It starts out with him waking up the following morning with his girlfriend in bed with him, how he "strokes her hair with his hand and she doesn't wake up - like usual". It's basically unrequited love. Unappreciated love at the cost of the guy Claude is singing about.

It's really more a French tune than a French "song". The French lyrics have nothing to do with My Way. Basically the French song's about a disintegrating relationship and all the things you still have to do and all the appearances you have to keep up day in day out even though deep inside you're falling apart. "Comme d'habitude" means "as usual". So, love is as its end but it's still business as usual.

This song is about his weariness when it comes to his relationship/life in general. It's a poignant tale of how he's only living his life out of habit, and how he's suffering and pretending to be okay. My Way, while having the same melody is a completely different song. I personally prefer Claude's version because of the lyrics, which IMO are more touching.
