I LOVE this! I didnt relize it was so easy to make and im sure to try it as soon as i can. Do you have a video on how to make blue mush too? I would also love to learn to make that as well. Thank you so very much for posting your videos.
& all these comments about Terry looking Asian, I wonder if those good people R aware that Terry is NECESSARILY (there is now tons of evidence of this point) descended from ATHABASCAN roots? The other commenters reading this should go look that up & find the amazing TREASURE TROVE of information on the ANCESTORS of the Apache Nation and the Navajo Nation. I never have enough time 2 learn as much about it as I would like. I think Terry BREAKs a lot of negative Navajo/Dine stereotypes, 2, BTW.
Full blood Native Americans have still Asian hair like this guy in the video but Native Americans lost the flat face after crossing the land bridge making then unique and different from modern day Asians from Asia.
So, the mountain (according 2 traditional ways, anyway) was supposed 2 B SACRED, right? Or something like that? Just checking on historical accuracy 4 myself here. NOT trying 2 give U a hard time about your publicly professed Christian faith, which I happen 2 share. I've heard those sumac berries R REALLY, really good! I NEVER got a chance 2 try stuff like that; the closest *I* ever came was prickly pear (berry) CANDY, which is quite yummy in & of itself. May God bless the Navajo Nation!!!
Wow, i cant understand a lick of Navajo or any Native American language for that matter ( I'm not a Native American ) but I love the way the Navajo Language sounds, you could probably curse me out in Navajo and I would think what you just said was beautiful LOL You have such a calmness to your voice that would set me at peace. I'm really glad that you know your native language and keep your culture and traditions alive, you truly have a beautiful culture .
I love the way you are are keeping your language and traditions alive and at the same time you are serving the creator of the world. I am fascinated by cultures from around the world and its great to see how native Americans live now as opposed to the Hollywoood sterotypes. Thanks and may God bless you
LOL...yes, we all know u have to turn on the stove to boil ingredients. Thank u! Will definitely try this. Just sitting here tying up my ch il ah whe..(spelling") wild tea.
amm ok i vever seen that bfor caz we do ours differnt over here in Alamo NAvajo!!we dont use Flore, or hot water!!We just dry it grind it then mix it with water n shuger!!!
I love the way Navajo is so descriptive... there are no "general" words, or so I've discovered so far.. everything is "described"..!! I wish I could learn the language.
Wow! I'm a "smallnavajo" and I've NEVER even realized we could use those berries for such a treat! I'm defintiely going to try you recipe! Also, since I'm from a different part of the Navajo reservation, I recognize the difference in your dialectal verbage, however I love the way you present it. Keep these vidoes coming! I'll be posting you on FB. Take care and MANY blessings!!
Very nice video...I liked the ipod vid. I told my family about it...I was wondering if you know how to spell "poop" in Navajo...haha off topic i know but Im curious...I see many people try and spell it.
I just spent time in Chinle and knew almost nothing about the Navajo people prior. You're videos will surely go a long way to preserve this beautiful language and culture.
Also, I think you have a great attitude in expressing love of our savior Jesus Christ. Christ is not "of" one people or another...Christ died for all people and all nations. We are all united and therefore one by and through Christ....and you, btw, represent Christ/Christianity very very well.
@jvjobi yeah, there are brothers and sisters here that look asian too, but then others look like east indians, i guess this is why Columbus named us indians, truth be each and every tribe usually, in their own language, call themselves, The People. Jari Naraski tata/nana, greetings to you man/woman, in pur'epecha! = )
dayum, dude. I love tha fact that you talk your language, teach and read it very well. i went to your home page, seen you on a lot of videos. I think your awsome. daybreakwarrior, is that your dineh name in english? I love guys who speak the dineh language its so sexy.
I don't speak Navajo yet. But I enjoy how you puts the tabs in English. It was really helpful. Also its nice you spoke it in Navajo. I have a Navajo freind that could use this. Hope you don't mind my posting it on facebook.
oh wow! that's like what we make back home in alaska except our word for it is atsiu'raq and we use fresh wild berries. some times we'll drizzle it with canned milk and sugar to cut down the tartness cause some times the berries are a little tart
Bee ił na'atsíhí- by means of it you stir or poke around...
When this word is used Navajos don't have to think of each word. They "see" the object immediately. For example, Rock Star... you don't think of a "rock" and a "star" separately before you think of a music entertainer. You think of a Rock Star.
@Medracin what daybreakwarrior is trying to say is that before navajos didn't have a word for most of the things used today so they just described it which make some words long
@Rochambeau1000 Amen! 4 example, let's C *U* try 2 describe an extraterrestrial flying saucer in one BRIEF all-encompassing word without sacrificing any accuracy. (Heh heh heh). :%)
Ya'a'teeh kesmmes to you and your family! I never knew of Chiilchin. Now I am very curious of the taste. Once I find some Chiilchin I'll try it. This is an awesome video, I'm learning alot from your videos. You are a gifted instructor in the Navajo Language. Continue your good work!
