  • RATM! USES THIS!

  • Eddie you have been busted..

  • Why is this JCM 800 SO HUGE? I thought JCM 800 was a home practice amp in the size of little box (I have seen on Youtube). I guess this model? comes in all different sizes. Also in Stackable style as well ??

  • Classic tone is an understatement....

  • and the 2205 and 2210 have 2 channels clean and lead and you can switch them

  • Hey guys, I love this sweet sound and im looking forward to buy myself a 22100 but some tongues say that the early 80s 2203 would be better and has other sound...

Which one of these would you recommend to someone who loves when he can play on his Strat and LP things like Iron Maiden, AC DC, Guns n Roses, Black Sabbath, Metallica and some other rock/ metal stuff ?

  • @dzava Unless you really feel you need the 100watts, you might be able to find a used 2205 head on Ebay for about $850. That's what I paid for one last year for my 82' 2205. Had some uprgades done on it for about $350 which included a Mercury OT, Caps, Fred Diodes and replaced the tubes with JJ's. So I paid about $1200 where I would have paid around $1600 - $1700 for one of the newer Marshall heads. I'd say it's much better suited for the music you want to play and more touch responsive too.

  • @Supertzar999 Yess Ive been thinking of getting the Vintage Modern, especially because its very versatile and has bigger sound range than JCM and also sounds good in bedroom... thats one of the major problems i have. I play live but Id love to practice with this beauty in my apartment too

  • I was wondering what the difference was between a JCM2000 and a JCM800

  • @muzikscud23 the jcm 2000 is more versatile and has better clean... the 800 is more punchy and crunchy in the distortion department

  • @plexilespaul thank you for the reply

  • @muzikscud23 jcm 2000 sounds like shit compared to 800

  • I have one, bought yesterday. Made in the 80's I Think, boughy for 650 euro with flightcase 400Watt cabinet (self buily) foothswitch and equalizer :D

  • what does the whole , 2204 2205 2203 thing mean?

  • @guitarsalert the jcm 800 line models. 2204- 50 watt 2203-100 watt and so on

  • @plexilespaul thanks mate :)

  • @plexilespaul the 2205 is also a 50 watt, but with a high gain channel too

  • @guitarsalert

    very simple. Jcm 800 2203- 100watt; 2204-50watt; 2205- 50 watt 2 channel; 2210- 100watt 2 channel

  • @guitarsalert

Sort of.. 2203-50 watt, 2204 100 watt, yes. The 2205 is a little different circuit. 2 channels, reverb. There is also a bridge rectifier type distortion added to the gain channel. Kind of a built in tube screamer. For this reason, it's often considered the first of the worse, or the last of best, depending on your opinion. IMO, it adds a nice little mid bump that'll fatten up a single coil guitar(cool), but'll take away some organic Humbucker crunch/squish.

  • hello. This is good amp for southern metal or some groove (pantera for example)?. I like this bluesy thig that jcm 800 have, but how about some hi gain metal like pantera.. ?

  • @Ango360 hi,

i don't think you would any trouble doing panthera with this amp..lots of gain unlike the jcm 800 2203/2204.

these amps as of all jcm 800 have good bottom end to them when turned loud

    cheers

  • @plexilespaul so i should search for 2205 model yep? maybe you can do some test and play some pantera/Coc/Down/Crowbar/Superjoint ritual song? you can do it for me, and post it on youtube? If you have time of course ;) It will help me so much. Sorry for my fucked up english.. ; / cheers my friend

  • Keep going, man.

  • 50 Watts on a Marshall JCM 800 is enough to remove your balls if your not careful.

  • Sounds very nice, bro.

  • Can you play on this set in home ?? i mean in low volume ?

  • What is the difference between the JCM 800 and the 900? I am new to tube amps nd I don't know much.

  • @FrosredZiggy the 900 are good amps but....notes on the 800 are more defined at loud volume due to better components like tranformers and build qualitty overall etc

giving the 800 better musical harmonics overall

  • @plexilespaul what amp would sound better for early 90's stuff out of the Jcm 800 or Jcm 900? I really like both, but can't make up my mind.

    Cheers

  • @teenangstbrigade i would choose the 800...better amp all around

  • @teenangstbrigade jcm 800 kick the 900 ass. jcm800-hand wired. 900 are circuit board mounted hardware (pot ect). the 900 is too fizzy/raspy sounding. the 800 gives a solid bark that will bight throught the mix. but anything under 3 on the volume and they dont sound as good.......and number three is f.hookin loud.

  • @markyellowseries3

the jcm 900 sl-x isnt. thats handwired and warmer sounding than te dual reverb

  • @plexilespaul and JCM 900 has reverb

  • @FrosredZiggy Some of the JCM900 have clipping diodes added, so the distortion is not all tube, but you will probably get one cheaper than an 800

  • @FrosredZiggy Some of the 900 use clipping diodes to generate the distortion, so they are not really all tube. but you can probably get one cheaper than a 800

  • @MikeModulus The later 800s have clipping diodes as well. I'm talking about the two-channel 2205 head and its combo versions. They also use circuit board mounted hardware (I have one).

  • omg i love this...!!!

  • Marshall JCM 800 are they top of the line amps?

  • Just like Zakk Wylde says: "JCM 800 = TONE OF DOOM"

  • i have this same amp but mines a 88, great amp, i use mesa boogie tubes in mine, and to screams, I use mine live nearly every weekend for the last ten years, ive played with rhythm guitarist who have used everything from Randals, to Marshal Mod 4's currently my rhythm guys uses a jcm 2000, and my amp blows his out of the water as far as tone, i use original 71 greenback celestions in my cab and they give me a wonderful tone,

  • tom morello uses this amp

  • how is the 4210 in tone quality comparing to 2203-5?is it worth it and does it have the classic jcm tone?

  • this is simply the best amp produced ever =)

  • big diff between 50W and 100W head? is the 50W loud enough to play live? im thinking of buying a jcm 800 2205 50W amp + cab

  • @DJBackslick the 2204 version (50wt) is definitely loud enough for gigs.

  • @DJBackslick the 100 watt is a bit louder but you will be fine with a 50 watter. you hit the sweet spot of the amp a little earlier while playing live...

  • @DJBackslick The difference in volume is 3db (barely noticable). The 50w will break up slightly earlier :)

  • @DJBackslick . tom morello always uses a 50w jcm live. he doesn't seem to have volume problems. whenever the pa is loud enough to overpower a 50w head the amp is always micked

  • @TheJHimself yeah, i got the 50W head now and im happy with it!

  • @DJBackslick i bet you will find that 50w is way louder than you need. 50w does not mean it is half as loud as a 100w. i gig fairly large shows with a 30w 212 combo and i usually have to switch it to 15w

  • @DJBackslick 30 watts plus is loud enough to play live dont let anyone tell u otherwise.....the main difference between 50 and 100 is headroom...which basically means a 100 watt amp will stay cleaner at higher volumes while a 50 watt will break up sooner.

  • @DJBackslick 30 watts plus is loud enough to play live dont let anyone tell u otherwise.....the main difference between 50 and 100 is headroom...which basically means a 100 watt amp will stay cleaner at higher volumes while a 50 watt will break up sooner.

  • what stands the model no. for? it is changing on the jcm800. is it somthing about the tubes?

  • what is the mod on jcm 800 good for? what did they change when they're talking about a 36 mod or something???

  • I've yet to like a JCM800 I've played, but you seem to get some great tone out of one.

I must need to pump it more ;D

  • @Umaiketsu : Add a DOD EQ and turn the LEVEL to MAX... All I ever needed to get her to sound just right ;)

  • what are your EQ settings at? i just got a 1989 2210 and i'm still trying to get the best tone out of it. any tips?

  • sounds good

  • With or without extra effekt?

    Never buy a JCM900.

  • What do you guys think about the Bogner Ecstasy 20th Ann. for metal?

  • what is a good marshall for thrash metal?

  • standard JCM 800 or JCM 2000 or the JCM 800 Kerry king's signature if you're looking for really high gain, plus the noise gate is killer!!

  • @rodrigozamo

They recently discontinued the Kerry King sig I believe you'd have to go used.

  • I didn't know that haha, well yeah, used is the way to go then...

  • but marshall is not really the best for thrash, check out a mesa boogie mark V, Dual Rectifier or Road King. The bad thing about boogies is that are very expensive or check out bugera 6262, amazing tone, high gain and incredible price

  • a jcm 800 thats unmodded won't get in that region, but a jvm, jcm 900, jcm 2000 tsl or dsl are all fine.

  • are you using any pedals?

  • no pedals on this video

  • wats the set up?!!?!!!

  • It is this type of repetative playing & sound duplication that makes the "edie's" of the world stand out.

  • Well he really just needs to work/ mess around with the amp's knobs and settings. Other than that it was fine.

  • That amp sounds exceptionally good! Nice job buddy!

  • i agree MG15CDR MARSHALL like yours is a better amp :)

  • MG better then tube? your joking right?

  • ofcourse i am joking i just replied to the clown before you

  • ahhhh sighs.. Well that is some serious ampage you got there man. Keep rocking!

  • i got an MG but im sure as HELL its not better then a tube. but still MG is a good model.

  • Yea ill agree for solid state amps they do have balls

  • most but randall rg 80=100es amps and marshall avt and mode for are the best sounding

  • I am big fan of the JVM. I auditioned 6 different Marshall amps and decided on it. I need the versatility. But the ones you mention are good as well.

  • its no way shape or form as good. marshall make it for beginers or dudes that are great guitar players but dont want to dish out 2100 for a tube stack.just average but if thats what u want for your rig enjoy but u never get marshall tube amp sound from a slid state if people say other wise they are lyingb to there selves

  • yeh ive got two of them as well ive grown sick of it thats why im gonna get a new amp

  • MG sucks. I have one :/

  • @Zeoilvia

    i know how you feel

  • Les Paul and Marshall....all I need....

  • Is there a better combo?

No they are a perfect couple just like Ozzy and Sharron

  • what are your knobs set too? good sound

  • Sounds great! Got an 2203 '83 myself =)

  • awsome tone what year is this amp

  • an 83

    thanks

  • Came back for more bro! Gibson Les Paul and JCM 800... say no more...

  • i am checking your videos as well bro :)

    jcm 800-a legend!

    cheers

  • Sweet tone Bro! Rock on!

  • why aren't they anymore in production?? I WANT ONE!!

  • they are.. (again)

  • and what's with the jcm 800 combos? they're not I think xD

  • this is where ebay comes in

  • me to:P

I saw one.. but haven't got the money for it on that moment:(

  • ebay

  • they stil are

  • Not the original growl from the early 80's...

  • Perfect.

  • hey that's great..post a clip for us!

the early ones remind me the jmp's or early jcm 800 single channels but a bit more saturated and sweeter (i just got my self a killer jcm 800 2203 model from 83) ...the later ones 87 and on i think they are more on the metal side and that's not a bad thing

  • Is your 2205 modded in any way, or stock? ? Thanks.

  • stock

  • @utubefloyd not modded

  • Hi, just picked up an 83 2205. I've heard opposing opinions on which is better (tone wise), the early 800's, or the late (85 and later) 800's. What's your opinion, and is your amp all stock, or has it been modded. Thanks.

  • Is it just me or does this not have that warm sound?

  • it depends on the settings of the eq.

  • Largely volume related, I think, when you often play at low volumes. A JCM 800 at a low volume will sound thin and tinny, at least compared to when it's turned up.

  • hey, have the jcm 800 channels?

like clean, dirty, crunch und so on?

  • yes... models jcm 800 2205/2210

  • it has two channels; normal and boost

  • i don't think that's possible

  • I know the JCM 800 is a great amp, but dude you own a Jubilee and owning a Jubilee and playing an 800 is like fucking your girl friends not so hot easy sister when you got the fucking Queen of fucking at home doing nothing!

Awesome tone anyway, love both these amps but the Jubilee is deffinitly the hotter of the 2 sisters :)

  • actually the jubilee is sold and the jcm 800 stays. i got anothe jcm 800 (2203)for the jubillee

  • Hi! i want to get slash's tone in Appetite for Destruction, i know a guy who has a JCM 800 2204 and he wanna sell it to me! do you think i will get slash 's tone with that amp? thank you! antbofy plz

  • i think you'll get close enough...the jcm 800 are in the family of tone as the superleads (slash had his jmp tremolo head modded)...

  • Oh yeah! and also i will get that next week :) but what bothers me is that there is two Jacks for High and low sens... can i buy an amp splitter to go from high to low? thanks !

  • not on jcm 800s. if there is something pluged into the igh sens jack then the low sens jack is ignored. :S

  • Well thank you for informing me i think i will still want to get that amp though i can not switch sens. But can i get clean tones out of the High sens without lowering the pre-amp just 6.5 pre-amp and lower volume on guitar?

  • oh yeah defs, not fender reverb clean but that sweet marshall clean.

  • I bought one of these new in 87 and it went thru hell for years. Good rugged amp but it finally fizzled out in 97 or so. I just ran a rack EQ in the loop. Got a new JVM 410H now. Shit it will put all these to shame.

  • how much is the amp

  • hey

Im thinkin of gettin one of these, but everyone says they're too loud...

is there anything wrong with putting a power brake or an attenuator in it or something??

    thanks

  • great amps for band sessions and live work...in bedroom try a hotplate attuenator

  • thanks for the help

yeah ill try the hotplate and reply again when ive got it sorted

  • Got one in my room and it ain't to loud.

  • Fantastic tone!!!!!

    1. What level of pre and master volume did you put?

    2. Can you get this beautiful tone in low levels of master volume?

  • can't remember the settings ...i think the gain was high up and the volume was just a little loud to get the tubes working

  • great sounds!.. igot 4 of these heads with four 1960 green back cabinets..2 slants and 2 flats. Swapped all the old tubes For groove tubes..works for me! processing ? ya i got a bit..lol Marshall RULES!

  • Excuse me i'm french ^^ can you give me your settings please ?

  • i can't remember but try to watch back the responses on this video maybe i answered to someone...

    this video is very old...sorry

  • OMG unbelievable sound :D

I've got a JCM 800 too and a Les Paul Standard Gibson but i don't have this sound, can you give me your reglages please ? :)

  • thanks...

    "reglags"???

  • muy buen sonido, si señor, the best sound i have ever listened.

  • muy lindo amplificador suena muy bien y la gibson les paul es la mejor guitarra en toda la historia felicitaciones

  • whats your gain on the amp during this demo

  • what amp cabinet should i get with my jcm 800 2203 though its not the 2205

  • get a jcm 800 4 * 12 cab model 1960 A

  • omg the tone.

  • Hello! i have a line 6 tube amp and i am a slash tone detective lol. i want to sell it an get a JCM 800 combo will it sound good like slash? also some guy is offering me a MArshall 3203 head he says its a 30w jcm800 is it true if yes is it better to get the combo or the 3203! anybody answers plz

  • just buy a vintage modern or look on ebay for a slash model currently slash is using the vintage modern series from marshall that should cover ur basis for his basic tone that and a LP with SD Alnico II Humbuckers Good Luck

  • Great sound my friend. What were the amp settings? Do you go for a scooped sound or higher in the mids?

  • thanks...higher on the mids...it works on the jcm 800 series...very musical mids

  • is your guitar plugged directly into the amp, how did you get the distortion on the amp? i

  • yes directly

  • how expensive are jcms? im very close to buying an mg100hdfx,ive got a budget of about €5OO. any suggestions?

  • aorund $2,000 U.S, so about €1,550

  • I picked up a JCM800 2204 last year for $800, and combo (4010) version last month for $725. Worth every cent.

  • is that 2000 for the head and the cab or just the head. im looking for one in australia and its pretty expensive for my limited budget :P

  • wait, is there really a big tone difference between the 2203, 2205, and 2210?

  • omg i just found a 2210 on ebay with roadcase and footswitch for $1099, im so f%#*en happy, without you and slash's tone i wouldn't be buying this beast. THANK YOU! 2210! awesome :D

  • you welcome allthough....in my opinion any jcm 800 is good enough for a slash tone but the jubillee/slash head will nail it to the bone

  • if you cant get hold on a 2205 would you go ahead and get a 2203(reissue) or wait and try to find a 2205?

  • i would go a head with the 2203 allthough

i would not give up searching for a 2205

  • I got one and all I can say is 10/10

  • Killer amp dude

  • thanks to dr. jim marshall :)

  • That IS the true sound of ROCK. I can spot a JCM800 a million miles away - it's the sound of enchantment.

  • amen!!!

  • Hey man. I dig your tone. Is Marshall good for heavy metal such as Metallica, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, and stuff like that but a little more high gain. Thanks in advance and KEEP ON ROCKIN!

  • Yes in short.

  • this amp is heavy metal allover...and i am not just saying that .... i had lots of amps including superleads, jubilee and such

  • Is the JCM 800 Marshall's best amp?

  • tone is subjective...people say the plexi"s( late 60's and early 70's ptp marshalls) are the best sounding amps and i tend to agree but i think the jcm 800 has that magic tone that works ...and it's in the same quality range as old plexi's.

  • hey, what settings are you using here?

  • haha just by the soound of the very first chord you play, FUHUCK!!!!!

    so nice

  • truley is a classic amp

    thanks:)

  • Best model of Marshall

  • veeery bad cab.......it isn't sounds good

  • are you retarded?

  • is there just more gain on these then say the 2202

  • Thanks for your nice work!

By the way, melodyboys com*cn can help you get this wonderful guitar at a rather low price. Have a try!

  • This would be perfect for some Judas Priest. You really have to be a clean player for this amp, because mistakes are very noticeable even by the best of players.

  • i have a jcm 900 hi gain thing witch sounds crap with ma eds 1275

i mite get a new head 1 day

  • is a mesa triaxis better than this jcm? or a dual rectifier
