This theme puts me in the Mindset of All the Belmonts reunited in one part of time and Charging Dracula's Final Army. I am logically assuming that the Belmont Family originated in Rome (or Greece) and the man who scourged Jesus took the whip that rendered the flesh of Christ and kept it as a family heirloom. The first Belmont became a Christian (watch "The Robe") and fought against Caligula who made it a capital crime to be Christian.

I basically think Castlevania was originally based on "The Robe" and the legend of Loginus and his Spear.

Richter is the most powerful. Period. His item crashes are why. However, his whip is a foot and a half shorter than Trevor's or Simon's.

So it's really up to how well one uses only the whip. If that's the case, it's Simon. No other Belmont can attack in all all directions with a full whip strike.

I personally do not accept anything from Lament of Innocence as Canon.

Lament of Innocence is CANON because the Sonia Belmont storyline sucks, which is why it was retconned or rather, THROWN OUT. Lament of Innocence does a great job of explaining the origins of the Belmont Clan and the power of the "Vampire Killer" whip. Also, since most CV games mention that only male descendants of the Belmonts can wield the whip , Lament of Innocence is plausible in creating the true progenitor of the Belmont Clan: Leon.
