@DeltaPearls and only a handful of undergrad AKA's were left in the chapter in the spring of 1912. this is why your founders were initiated in the fall to ensure the sorority wud continue to grow. those handful, after Nellie contacted other members once she found out wut your founders were really up to, stayed. most of them (4) became our incorporators. your founders are the only ones that bounced. so that's another lie u just told.

McNealy, your centennial website, or google the founders and early members of AKA and you will see that they all graduated by Spring 1912. Also, there were two line of that my Founders were made on Fall/Spring of 1911 and Spring 1912.

@DeltaPearls It wasn't Alpha chapter yet, i agree. & thoughts were emerging 2 go national with the Sorority, so..why didn't they just do it? Changing the letters to make it look Greek in appearance? Please. Your founders were initiated in the fall of 1912. They hadn't even took time 2 explore the mechanisms of the sorority good before they started scheming to change it. It wasn't even a whole year before the division in 1913. So, sounds to me just like some power hungry women whose plans failed.
@preciouspearl1908- (Part A) My Founders were not power hungry because they were in a SOVEREIGN undergraduate chapter were they were only officers and only members. HU required all campus organizations to be made up of undergraduate students only that is why HU required a constitution. Nellie was invited to attend the meeting because of the changes my Founders wanted to make. My Founders stated that they did not intend to become Founders or create a new sorority.
@preciouspearl1908-(Part B) There intention was to make changes in Alpha chapter of AKA. The changes included change projects to service projects, change name, motto, colors, incorporate, expand etc.,. Despite the changes the Founders of AKA were to be the same group of sixteen women who founded AKA and that would not have changed. So the sixteen founders of AKA would have still been the Founders of the sorority with the new changes.
@preciouspearl1908-(Part C) The first 5 yrs of AKA history would have been preserved as well. Nellie felt those changes took away the specific characteristics of AKA, while my Founders felt that the changes were necessary to make the sorority a service sorority and a greek identifiable sorority whether initials of the sorority were used or the entire name of the sorority was used. Plus other reason, but there is not enough room to discuss.
@preciouspearl1908-(Part D) My Founders did not fail nor did they want to destroy AKA. My Founders understood Nellie reason for wanting to preserve AKA, but my Founders could not be content in a sorority that did not promote service agenda. My Founders were very honored, satisfied & proud that Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded as a service sorority from day 1 that marched for women suffrage, lobbied for anti-lynching laws, fought for justice & equality, gave scholarships & loans.

@PreciousPearl1908 - DST was the 1st sorority to use pearls. Of course you would lie. Your 1st pin in 1908 was a green enameled ivy leaf with the greek symbols AKA in gold in each leaf with no pearls. In 1921 was"embellished by a rim of pearls ab out the ivy leaf." Also, there is a documented interview with Nellie Pratt Russell where she talks about being proud to wear her plain AKA pin before it was embellished with pearls.

All people and groups who marched in 1913 had to register and march. No documents exits where AKA marched because your sorority did not participate. Anybody can say the marched without proof.

@preciouspearl1908- Pearls have been DST national symbol and used by us since 1913. We used pearls before AKAs. As members of DST we stress SERVICE not pearls. I read public histories of all of the D9 sororities and AKA started using Pearls in 1921 (Pearls of Service). My Founders did not bounce from Alpha chapter AKA in 1912 they voted to change the direction (motto etc.) of their SOVEREIGN undergraduate chapter. No graduate chapters existed. Nellie objected. Then the spit occured.

@MzPecanRican926 Although i know for a fact that AKA and DST at TSU get along very well the history behind the rivalry is that DST's founders were AKAs who branched off and formed their own sorority...but in most chapters there is no real bad blood just a little friendly competition. However there are individuals in BOTh orgs that genuinely dislike each other. But for the most part its greek love and unity.

@cutierednk03 - Its in Pearls of Service book written by your Soror Earnestine McNealey that AKA pin was modified in 1921 to add 20 pearls on to the pin. Also there is an interview with Nellie Russell where she talks about wearing her plain AKA pin and how she was pleased years later when 20 pearls were added to the pin.

1. Regardless of which organization started what, the fact still remains that the founders of Delta Sigma Theta took binding lifelong vows to Alpha Kappa Alpha but unethically broke their vows. Plain and simple. Loyalty is everything which is why Delta is a non-factor. Now, this is me speaking mundanely. @DeltaPearls and only a handful of undergrad AKA's were left in the chapter in the spring of 1912. this is why your founders were initiated in the fall to ensure the sorority wud continue to grow. those handful, after Nellie contacted other members once she found out wut your founders were really up to, stayed. most of them (4) became our incorporators. your founders are the only ones that bounced. so that's another lie u just told.

McNealy, your centennial website, or google the founders and early members of AKA and you will see that they all graduated by Spring 1912. Also, there were two line of that my Founders were made on Fall/Spring of 1911 and Spring 1912.

McKinzie she talks about the split and says that their was not an AKA present on HU campus after the spilt, but Nellie gathered graduated member of AKA and the sorority later returned to HU campus.

Please. Your founders were initiated in the fall of 1912. They hadn't even took time 2 explore the mechanisms of the sorority good before they started scheming to change it. It wasn't even a whole year before the division in 1913. So, sounds to me just like some power hungry women whose plans failed.

@preciouspearl1908- (Part A) My Founders were not power hungry because they were in a SOVEREIGN undergraduate chapter were they were only officers and only members. HU required all campus organizations to be made up of undergraduate students only that is why HU required a constitution. Nellie was invited to attend the meeting because of the changes my Founders wanted to make. My Founders stated that they did not intend to become Founders or create a new sorority.

The changes included change projects to service projects, change name, motto, colors, incorporate, expand etc.,. Despite the changes the Founders of AKA were to be the same group of sixteen women who founded AKA and that would not have changed. So the sixteen founders of AKA would have still been the Founders of the sorority with the new changes.

Nellie felt those changes took away the specific characteristics of AKA, while my Founders felt that the changes were necessary to make the sorority a service sorority and a greek identifiable sorority whether initials of the sorority were used or the entire name of the sorority was used. Plus other reason, but there is not enough room to discuss.

My Founders understood Nellie reason for wanting to preserve AKA, but my Founders could not be content in a sorority that did not promote service agenda. My Founders were very honored, satisfied & proud that Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded as a service sorority from day 1 that marched for women suffrage, lobbied for anti-lynching laws, fought for justice & equality, gave scholarships & loans.

Your 1st pin in 1908 was a green enameled ivy leaf with the greek symbols AKA in gold in each leaf with no pearls. In 1921 was"embellished by a rim of pearls ab out the ivy leaf." Also, there is a documented interview with Nellie Pratt Russell where she talks about being proud to wear her plain AKA pin before it was embellished with pearls.

Your founders graduated before the campus chapter of the YWCA & NAACP were at HU despite what your sorority claims. Your Founders once graduated no longer associated with Alpha chapter of AKA. Nellie only came to the meeting because she was invited. Read Judge Quanders book he says no undergraduate AKA could be found to save alpha chapter of AKA thats why Nellie had to step in.

AKA could not march in the renactment because you did not march in 1913. Independent Suffrage commitee found out that AKA did not march and AKA was not allowed to march in the renactment. @striveforthe9 we slay u, cuz the real truth hurts! u hate 2 come 2 grips with the fact that ur founders were initiated in AKA to continue to dream, do wut they had pledged 2 do after my founders graduated. so again, if the service had stopped, IT WAS Y'ALL WHO STOPPED DOING IT!!! Since the beginning, it was about service! so if that was the case, then they should have gotten off their asses and go SERVE. Not try 2 change everything about AKA! wut colors/symbols/letters got 2 do wit SERVICE???

"Following our mother"? Who is that? Certainly not AKA. If we followed you we'd be headed for disaster like your sorority currently is. OUR pearls have more of a significance than your 20. You want to talk about DST "copying"? Oh okay! SOME members being involved with SOME acts of service doesn't consitute a Service Sorority. What service projects were AKA(as a Sorority) involved in from 1908 to 1913? Furthermore, it took my 22 for AKA to manifest into what it claims it is today.

@striveforthe9 DST had had more suspensions, expulsions, AND YES LAWSUITS on a regional level to make up for one of AKAs unfortunate incidents. So please research your own org before u get on youtube making urself look dumber with every sentence you type. and like i told the other duck, u dnt have 2 establish a service title or project in order to actually SERVE. it was always about service since the beginning!

@preciouspearl1908- Pearls have been DST national symbol and used by us since 1913. We used pearls before AKAs. As members of DST we stress SERVICE not pearls. I read public histories of all of the D9 sororities and AKA started using Pearls in 1921 (Pearls of Service). My Founders did not bounce from Alpha chapter AKA in 1912 they voted to change the direction (motto etc.) of their SOVEREIGN undergraduate chapter. No graduate chapters existed. Nellie objected. Then the spit occured.

Interesting. I noticed on there other vid all the AKAs were raving about how the AKA was spitting facts and it was so cold because she took a long time & they were dissin the Delta that had the shorter comeback but on this one they're complaining about how long the Delta rapped and cheering about the AKA keeping it short weird, then on there 1st vid I noticed a lot of The AKA won cuz she was spitting facts. so was the Delta. They both were spitting facts so why can't it be a tie or something?

I honestly like both AKAs and Deltas bc of what the organizations' purposes are. What I don't understand is why does it seem like there's animosity between the two sororities? I mean, every step show or yard show I've been to, they're constantly at each other's necks! "AKAs are this" or "Deltas are that". Instead of dissin' each other, shouldn't it be more about greek unity? I'm just asking. =/

@MzPecanRican926 Although i know for a fact that AKA and DST at TSU get along very well the history behind the rivalry is that DST's founders were AKAs who branched off and formed their own sorority...but in most chapters there is no real bad blood just a little friendly competition. However there are individuals in BOTh orgs that genuinely dislike each other. But for the most part its greek love and unity.

This "child" you oh so call has a 3.7 GPA majoring in Marketing with a minor in Accounting and will be graduating in the year of May 2012. I'm 20 and I D0 pay my own BiLLS. I also do community service and raise money for other young black children to get a degree instead of arguing on youtube. =]

@cutierednk03 - Its in Pearls of Service book written by your Soror Earnestine McNealey that AKA pin was modified in 1921 to add 20 pearls on to the pin. Also there is an interview with Nellie Russell where she talks about wearing her plain AKA pin and how she was pleased years later when 20 pearls were added to the pin.

I give props where they are due... Jada(the K) did well, but EVERYBODY at Tennessee State University, 3500 John A. Merritt Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209 KNOWS who as been running...and I do mean RUNNING...not only the yard, but the community through service and a academics. Since 1932? Oh ok! They just got back on the yard after 3 years and before that they were gone another 2, so to run the yard you'd actually have to be ON THE YARD. Just stating facts. No need to get angry.
