  • Is there a place where we can see the full resolution pics of these? thx.

  • Hur gör man för att få testa en kamera såhär? Vad får man betala?

  • To all those you yell for more MPs and lower noise. It's just impossible. The higher the MP on a standard cmos sensors (wether APS-C or FX) the higher the iso will get. You can't just put more pixels on a small sensor.

Thats why the nikon DSLR cameras with 12MP are leading in low noise at high ISO. the FX Format has a slightly bigger sensor but still lower MP than APS-C Cameras like the 1D Mark IV.

16, 21 or even 24MP Cameras are ok for situations with enough light and low ISO

  • @raulandrus The 1D Mk IV is an APS-H.

  • @QuencyJones16 oh, sorry ;) all those shortcuts are easy to mix up. btw I just got my new 3Ds :D This thing rocks!

  • @raulandrus Well, we can get more MPs and lower noise but not yet. We don't have enough tech to make such a sensor...unfortunately :D

  • good video, thanks!

  • hello, just wondering whats the name of that flash with an antenna on it, it looks fab...intersted on it...thanks

  • @micags

    Its an Profoto B2r :)

  • @micags I think its PocketWizard, don't know which one of them but it definitely looks like it.

  • please choose some nice background that will give more drama to your composition. it would be great if you shot it on a beach with a nice sunset.=)

  • not that this man isn't a great photographer which im very confident that he is. however i follow the philosophy of not being so tempted to take a look at the photos i just took on the back display. confidence in your work is key to success. i must admit sometimes i do look at the photos but mainly it's to assist me in making those slight adjustments and when doing fill flash. that i kind of have to do using a d1 with the old d-ttl which is so messed up

  • open your eyes and look at the image quality nikon camera produce, its colors is smudge by grayish colors it looks digital.

  • @rustynasty143 LOL thats why i ditched canons! i think its about time you just admit it buddy! at this moment in time nikons bodies and glass are superior to canons! hence why i have just purchased the nikkor 500mm f4 vr!

  • @quickshooter100 Good on you dude i wish you good luck for your collection, but before i cut this none sense conversation i will tell you one thing, photography is not all about camera gear or how good you are as a photographer, you gotta be able to know two sides of this of this so called "reality check" its not all about camera gear dude, you have to know the other side of photography to make you a great photographer. Now a days anyone can buy camera gear but you can't buy talent.

  • @rustynasty143 yep your bang on there ! i could not agree more:O)

  • @quickshooter100 yeah you have gear but wheres your talent?LOL!

  • @rustynasty143 my talent is in using that gear and getting the shot right in camera! unlike yourself, who relies on photoshop to make images! lol its ok you will learn in time! :O)

  • I've got some real world video captures with my Nikon d3s, you should check them out on my page. Also, that HI ISO sensitivity setting in video mode, is not as high as you can take it, there's higher but it's a trick setting on the camera.

  • I'm a huge Nikon fan, but this video is pointless other than to promote Scanout! Wasted!

  • Nice video! Can't believe the D3 can produce that good pictures in complete darkness.

  • Damnit! I can't win. This camera only shoots 720p video.

I wanted the 1DM4 but it's still a crop frame sensor.

  • @UndecidedBloodDoner Try converting the images to black and white? The noise looks less obnoxious in B & W.

  • @WhispererGTclub - depth of field perhaps

  • and what was the reason of using f/14 and iso 12400 shooting at night? Just for test?

    i would prefer f/4-f/8 or even f/2.8

Nice camera! thanks for test. I am using Canon 5D mark2 and it is a much noisier on hi ISO's than Nikon D3S, as i can see.

  • Brush you're stinking yellow teeth you're review SUCKS!!!!

  • He was showing an ISO test, he wasn't reviewing anything. Not only that, he works for Nikon, so eat it.

  • nikon should produce a fx camera with around 16-18mp and price it to compete with the 5d2, then reduce the price and number of their 12mp cameras

  • Or not.

  • For me, if nikon produced a "reasonably priced" 16-18mp camera, this would provide the best of both worlds - typically high nikon image quality, yet high resolution for my landscapes (aka canon 5d2). All without having to spend £5k on the d3x. Does this make sense?

  • I've heard many people state the same things you have but in my opinion there isn't a big enough need for a 16-18mp and that's probably why Nikon hasn't made one. People who need truly need mp usually have the doe to cough up the 8 grand for the D3X.

  • What is the song called, that you use from etc 1 min out in the movie? I like that song.

  • Why does this guy need two SUV's full of equipment for a hand-held available-light shoot? Then he's off pointing at his screen while he misses the action. Then he's shooting at high-speed burst, where he should be using his finger to choose the moment. A crap amateur with lots of money, showing off.

  • 'cause he can. That's the deference between you two. You can't and you're simply jealous.

  • As far as i can see, he's using Strobes too (because he has a PW on his body). And you can clearly see the flashes when he takes pictures. So i would say: A couple of strobes, couple of lightstands, judging by the location he's also using some power generators (Battery packs). Cables, probably everything in cases.

And maybe the other car was for the performers themselves.. ever think of that?

A lot of possibilities my friend.

    Cheers

  • Trehvitt panel og østlandskengelsk, jævlig bra, Norge ruler!

  • no it doesn't. the mark IV, even with more pixels, employs a newer sensor with larger wells. Translates to better light gathering than even the d3s with 12 megapixels. personally, I think 102,400 ISO is ridiculous anyway. the pixel war is over so there has to be something else to sell cameras. at that iso, they both look like crap, but the mark IV does outperform overall.

  • How would and could a 1.3x crop sensor body like the Eos 1D MK IV beat the Fullframe D3s???

C'mon.. nearly every Canon user admits Nikon beats Canon in terms of lack of Noise at High ISO.

And Canon didn't stop in the pixel-race...they made the 18mp APS-C sensor Eos 7D.

  • true, but 16mp is plenty. IMO, i'd stick to 14 even. But comparing results back and forth the mark iv is technically a better performer. of course, we could banter all day, but no point. I am not bashing Nikon. I personally love nikon and especially their primes. In the end it's all about the art and imagery. I love every aspect of photography. Me being skeptical when I buy a point and shoot, I actually plunged and bought a tiny canon sd780. not bad images for its price point. cheers!

  • yeah the noise in my 7D at the highest ISO is pretty bad, i never crank it that high for that reason.. i actually expected better.

whats the point of a high ISO if your just adding noise?

  • Using high Iso isn't a bad thing.. if the electronics and sensor are good enough, and the pixel-density and size of the micro lenses is good, the ratio, between Increasing ISO and noise at those settings, is high.

And that was one of the reasons for me to choose the Nikon D700. Great high Iso performance

  • well if your using off camera strobes like his profoto it means that he can bring the power right down therefore making the battery last longer and the re cycling times faster.

  • am I the only one that noticed the shelf of nikon camera boxes at 0:49

  • what features would they be? as far as im concerned both cameras have all the usable features 99.9% of photographers would ever need plus 100 more they dont.

For me canons ergonomics have always been unusable for anything other that controlled photography, i.e studio work, where most of the time i will be only using one button (the shutter btw) So as for your statement the d3s is the way to go for me....and is the way i will be going.

    peace

    Brian

  • ISO 12800? amazing!!

  • Nice pics with the fire breathers & all, BUT you're not really challenging the high ISO capability very much.

These were shot at night yeah, but the fire produced plenty of light to meter & expose off of so it would be easy to get good, well exposed, low noise shots. With this or the D3/D700 before it. Or D300/300s.

  • whats that furry thing ontop his camera??? a mic?

  • Yep, dead on mate. And the other device on top of his camera during the fire breathing scene is a Pocket Wizard.

  • yep, seems like every single photographer has one, eh

  • the pocket wizard

  • Haha yep, ive used them before. they're great if you're into alot of remote lighting, otherwise though its hard to justify dropping two hundred on each one...

  • i was playing with the 7D today at bb......it was nice....but being a nikon fan, i really hope this takes out the canon heh. Long live nikon!

  • Nice :-)

  • Vallemyrene i Porsgrunn?

  • Awsome!
