Brilliant score! Many, many tearjerkers have been made but this might be the tops because you can really relate to these guys as men, and friends. Billy Dee Williams and James Caan made it real, their characters so likeable. The movie itself tends to get lost in the shuffle of great movies because it wasn't theater released but it deserves the same honor as any one (particularly sports movies) that has ever been made.

@sjgorek ~ I never got to see them play, but I heard Gale Sayers was a great runner, and I was just about to see a video of him playing.. I think I did see him when I was pretty young, 7 or so.. This movie still stands as one of the greatest.. especially for a TV movie of the week! They can try at remakes, but none can top this, the original, the best~

I never cried watching this movie, but I still remember how it hit my father that Brian Piccolo was only 26 when died. Great film.

I cry every time. He died too young. I am from Omaha. My mom went to high school with Gale Sayers. This movie makes me weep.
