no cbs theme is it has been out since SB XXI in which is was the theme of the Super Bowl but instead of using it fr the NFL CBS decided to use it fr college football and it has been used for 23 years.

Best college football theme music outside of the SEC on CBS. I loved this theme and especially the remixes that were played before commercials. Just got me pumped up.
If I'm not mistaken the ABC broadcasts use this song all the time now... well, the primetime game anyway... and during most if not all halftime segments on games shown in ABC.
That's funny... because during the halftime segmes on ABC you can hear it... and they use the slower, more pageanty song, i.e. the one that they used to use when doing the intro to the BCS National Championship game, during today's UT OU game as well as last week during their primetime broadcast.
ESPN should just go die in a fire for not still using this song. I remember I muted all games and hummed this song for a year or so after they got rid of it because it's so badass.

It is an absolute crime that ABC/ESPN stopped using this theme song when ABCSports was rebranded ESPN on ABC before the 2006 season. This song is outstanding. Now they only use this song sparingly. It was such a stupid idea to blend ABCSports with ESPN. It's part of the McDonaldization of sports that ESPN has started to do. You think the head honchos at ESPN would recognize the greatness of this song and bring it back. ESPN's theme isn't bad, but there's no reason it has to be one or the other.
This is so classic I think this theme and The NFL on CBS are the two best themes in sports history

I'm trying to find the marvelous highlight music for college football that one of the networks used in 80's and 90's. It's not used now, but was great -- sort of haunting melody. Anyone know what it was?

Best college football theme music outside of the SEC on CBS. I loved this theme and especially the remixes that were played before commercials. Just got me pumped up.

If I'm not mistaken the ABC broadcasts use this song all the time now... well, the primetime game anyway... and during most if not all halftime segments on games shown in ABC.

That's funny... because during the halftime segmes on ABC you can hear it... and they use the slower, more pageanty song, i.e. the one that they used to use when doing the intro to the BCS National Championship game, during today's UT OU game as well as last week during their primetime broadcast.

It is an absolute crime that ABC/ESPN stopped using this theme song when ABCSports was rebranded ESPN on ABC before the 2006 season. This song is outstanding. Now they only use this song sparingly. It was such a stupid idea to blend ABCSports with ESPN. It's part of the McDonaldization of sports that ESPN has started to do. You think the head honchos at ESPN would recognize the greatness of this song and bring it back. ESPN's theme isn't bad, but there's no reason it has to be one or the other.
