Im making a WAD in which you start in a jail, for that reason I would want the player to start without a pistol, how might i do that?

I have one question that i cand find answer.

i am drawing my sprites and textures in PNG with truecolor but in doom palette they look ugly.

Is there any way to make a wad using my own palette, or something that help my problem? (i am using Zdoom and xwe).
