I "discovered" Molly Hatchet only 2-3 years ago. I do remember them from the late 70s. At that time, they seemed like just another hair band to me. But, as my taste has changed, I really like these guys. It appears Danny Joe Brown was a very good front man for the band and he had such really good musicians behind him as well. Frankly, I don't see why they aren't considered more seriously as a rock band (or southern rock band). Lynyrd Skynyrd aren't as good as these guys,
God bless you Mat for posting this concert. had it on VHS for many years. Can you believe it was almost 30 years ago.. DAMN.. RIP DJB, Duane.. You are still missed.
I saw them in the 70's, the guys from the band jumped off the stage and smoked a bowl with us. That was before the high prices and assigned seats. Still to this day, dreams I'll never see is one of my favorite songs.
WITH THE DEATH OD DJB,RONNIE VAN ZANT, THE CALDWELL BROTHERS AND DUANE ALLMAN AND BERRY OAKLEY MUSIC IS NEVER GONNA BE WHAT IT WAS BACK IN THE LATE 60'S TO THE EARLY EIGHTIES.THIS IS WHEN MUSIC FROM THE SOUTH WAS THE SHIT.I LISTEN TO THESE OLD SONGS AND FEEL YOUNG AGAIN ONLY IN MY HEAD BUT IT DOES BRING BACK GREAT MEMORIES FROM MY TEENAGE YEARS AND SPRING BREAKS IN FLORIDA.
What does Neil Young and Ronnie's disagreements mean too this vid.? Did ya hear the 2 dudes from Pink Floyd are "fighting" I think one of them is a guy last name Waters the other Gilmore?.
Oh did I mention, I'm on a 30 day diet. I've lost 15 days.
WHO cares!!!
Go to Neils songs on the tube, and tell him how you and your buddy feels.--
I'm with you 100% keinpostmann... too many sympathetic pussies out there to stand up for our ability to say what we feel, (people aren't as offended as they let on, they just want something to sue over, it's the new American lottery ) Say what you feel! If people don't like it....fuck em, let them toughen up...
It´s false that the relationship beetween Neil Young and Ronnie Van Zandt was bad. They were mutual friends and they admire each other. See on the live Freebird tube which t-shirt is Ronnie wearin? A Neil Young´s one. And Neil Young wrote for the Skynyrd "powderfinger" but the disgrace came to one of the best bands ever
I remember seeing Molly Hatchet and the Outlaws New Years Jam in the Lakeland Civic Center... Mmmm '75, '76, '77 sometime in that era. Long ride coming home on the Motorcycle back to Sanford. Nodding off on I-4... God Bless Florida and her finest bands, Skynyrd, Outlaws, and of course Hatchet!!
I found it strange when I found out Skynyrd are fro Florida after hearing 'Sweet Home Alabama'. Also didnt know Hatchet are from Florida. Heard 'Gator Country' and it mentions Georgia!! Confusing innit!!! Are all the band members from Florida?
If you listen to the words of Gator Country, they're actually putting down everything and everyone, except for The Outlaws because they're from Fla... 'He can ramble on back to Georgia, I don't give a damn... Outlaws down in Tampa town, it's a mighty fine place to be. They got green grass, and they got high tides, sure sounds good to me.'
What is confusing? Sweet Home Alabama was a response in part to the song "Southern Man" by Neil Young. From the Song: Well, I hope Neil Young will remember, a southern man don't need him around anyhow"...
@keinpostmann Neil Young wrote a song called "Alabama" and "Sweet Home Alabama" was written for that, which also included a shot at the song "Southern Man"
r1o2s3i4e What part of "in part" was not understood? Was it neccessary for me to refer to "Alabama" to get my point across?
When I was about 14, I won a Neil Young 33 1/3 Album at a school dance as a door prize, when I got outside I smashed it and dropped it in the trash much to the complete and utter horror of the girl I had taken to the dance (she was a fan). If I have been unclear so far, let me say this: I cannot stand Neil Young *or* his music, a Southern Man don't need him around.
r1o2s3i4e Don't cop a 'tude, I usually have to cut out some of what I want to say thanks to the 500 character limit imposed by YT. Therefore in the intrest of brevity, I don't include *all* details. My last reply was to underscore my point. However if you want to hate on me, feel free. I'm here whether or not you (or anyone else) approves. If anyone here needs an education, I'd suggest looking on for someone besides me. "I can not save you. I can't even save myself. So just save yourself."
No need to take fault, none was intended! Really! I deal with a lot of difficult people and situations and I am used to saying what I am thinking. I am one to say what I am going to do, and then I do what I said I would do. Honesty is in short supply in this country, if this stupid political correctness crap stopped tomorrow I'd be ecstatic. What's wrong with speaking one's mind and then straightening out the mis-interpretation later? I'm not a trouble maker (or a Troll), I am just honest.
Yo "Zig Zag" dude. Skynyrd was talking about the south in general, and since Alabama was the capital during the civil war,.....I think thats what they mean. The song was just a joke anyway, and a response to Neal Young's song "Southern Man". It was all in fun, but the public got a damn good song out of it. A song that will never be forgotten, from a band that will never be forgotten.
I almost forgot to mention Molly Hatchet since thats who's vidio I am watching anyway. If you listen to "Gator Country" all the way through without blazin' up a bowl, smokin' crack, or shootin' up. You might understand them better.
Thanks for the info! I agree a brilliant song. Another Skynyrd song that is brilliant, and , perhaps, not as well known is , one of my favourites, off the "First and Last" album "Wino" . If you aint heard it its brilliant!!!
I like to say this about Dixie,Confederate States of America,C.S.A.,The South. Whites and Blacks are one with Dixie. That is that it is not about White and Black when you hear Dixie. The division is a Yankee construct. The KKK or the like does not represent Dixie anymore than Hitler represents Germany. I am a White
Southern Gentleman and my Black counterparts are Southern Brothers. Long live the memory of the C.S.A. and thank you all those who died for States Rights especially N.C.
There is no white and black, or green and yellow, or brown or purple anymore. We should see that. There only was and still is the FEDERAL RESERVE vs. the PEOPLE. If you can start a fight amongst the people, you will be free to do whatever the hell you want while the limelight is off you and the f'n country is burning for 150 years

Just Danny at his best!! What a growl. What a man, he's my Southern Boy!! I love his whistle. Don't hate on Danny because he looks so good. Maybe he had been working out at the gym, ever think of that?
Reply to roadglidin62: I am a woman!! The hater's are the ones who put Danny Joe Brown down. We all make mistakes. Danny was just plain good looking and alot of people think his muscles came from an artifical source. I don't know what kind of drugs he did, but I have heard all he did was weed. Like so many other people out there do. Danny was the best. He died of diabetes complications and I am so tired of people saying he died from his hard lifestyle. It's not fair.
To LordGandor2: I agree with you there, whiskey is not good with circulation problems alright. Lucky you to have spoke with his Son, "Was that Jake you spoke too?" That must of been a special moment.
I don`t remember his name but its the kid in the video behind Danny with his hands on Danny`s shoulders & he kisses him on the cheek with Danny sitting on the stool cause he was too weak to stand. I think he said he was a singer as well. Its been probably 10 years & I don`t think his singing carreer ever took off ?
That was Jake on that video posting. I haven't heard if Jake ever made it in music. He tried to sing a bit at his Dad's last get together with Molly Hatchet. He had eye's like his Dad, but he looked alot taller then his Dad. Danny's Mom was supposed to be in that audience too, I wish they would of brought her on stage at the end of the concert. I would of liked to have seen her. He just said she was there and thanked everyone.
You seem to know about the baqnd, Is it true he was Glen Danzig's father? I have heard that and they do resemble each other, but I'd like to know the truth if you can help me out!!!
Reply...No Danny Was not Glen's Father. Danny was born on august 24, 1951. And Glen was born in 1955. Danny would not of been 4 years old as a father. Hope this helps.
He looks muscular, especially in his arms and chest. My guess is that he was doing a little weight-lifting back then. It probably helped with his stamina on stage. I agree with you. I seriously doubt DJB was doing steroids. LOL.
