@rvm1955 Oh gosh, thats my mistake. I'll set it out to the trash. They'll pick it up tonight ;) I'll kick it down the street first :P What a horrible piece of crap this thing is. Good lord, what was I thinking??????
Very Nice.. I have this exact model. I recently changed out the Pachmayer grips to Hogues and I certainly do fire mine. She's one of my daily carry options with 38 +P+ rounds. Oh, and your so right, this is one of the best firearms you'll ever own.
@faffaflunkie Mine came with the standard Walnut grips but I always wanted to Goncalo Alves. I might grab a pair now that you reminded me of that. I remember how great they looked. I'm not sure if those were made only for the N-frame of they made them for the K. It was BEAUTIFUL wood choice on S&W's part. I still have the stock Walnuts, box, papers and receipts ;)
Thanks mostly to the film The Last Boyscout, this make and model happens to be my favorite revolver, the lead character in the aforementioned motion picture used this particular handgun. I have never fired this gun, held one in my hand, or even seen one. But, it remains my favorite revolver in Hollywood history. Thanks for the tour. =)
@bertonglacy Glad ya liked it! Actually when you hold one of these in your hand, ya know you got something there. Its heavy but its evenly balanced. I liked Detective Specials and all the old hollywood movies from the 20's to mid-70's and I grew up in the 17's and 80's and this is the S&W I like best, even over the big .44 Clint made famous :)
@MURKYDEEP100 Ignorance can only be cured by asking questions and really the only truly ignorant people are the ones that DON'T ask questions ;) You're on the right track and its always great to see new blood interested in the vintage wheelguns. I just bought that same gun and its now my favorite carry gun over my normal Kimber 45 tactical Custom II. Mine has the red ramps though. I’ve never liked revolvers until I got this one and I’ve had several. This is my carry now. I like the Magnum feel and accuracy.
@excelerater Congradulations! You'll love it! (you already know that since you've picked it up and your fingers went around the grips ;) Toss up a video if ya can!
@excelerater You got one HECK of a nice deal on that gun. I like them up to about 1982 the best. Holster wear on bluing looks good. I have several Colts that wore great at the muzzle and below the crane. Its almost artistic, lol. I'd not change that wear for anything. I love wheel guns. If you carry that CCW it will be a heavy beast but still, VERY cool! As long as the gun is tight and crisp, wear never bugs me :) Those grips are worth every penny. I have them on several shooters.
@snarlingrabiddog5150 .....thx for the words,I really enjoy older used revolvers ...that was my first old gun ,I think I may need a few more......... :) . .the guy told me mine was pretty rare being a snubbie and pinned w recess.....
You're totally right. I picked one up that was excellent-to-mint years ago, for $350 cash. It's a 2.5" ins. 19-4 but still has the coveted pinned barrel. It's a real tack-driver, even at 25 yds, which isn't bad at all for a snubbie.
damn, i was speechless for half a minute since i started watching the video...i'm a young guy who's not all hung up on only autos..damn, i AM interested in it but i don't have the money your probably asking for it. i'll dream about it for now.
@paikmendez Glad you like her. Shes a keeper. I love both autos and revolvers but have always loved revolvers more. They seem to have more character :)
please stop making videos of your guns...making us jealous! Ha! kidding man. You have some seriously nice firearms. I love that you have kept so many new, unfired, and in their boxes. Thats a lot of temptation!
I just picked up a Model 13-2 that has been upgraded with a target rib, 6" barrel and Trigger. The 13 is the heavy barrel K frame or one of them similar to the model 10 and this one. My second SW and man I have to say they have the nicest trigger in Single action that you could ask for. Even Double is crisp and nice. One word of advice. I could see that the other 5 chambers were empty however a lot of people will complain on here if you don't do a unload check just a heads up but great vid.
@Marc329 Thanks :) Noppers, I'm going to keep it :) If you have a video of yours, it would be really neat to watch if you get the time to put one up :) I really like this gun a lot :)
Actually every one of my Colts, I have Walnut grips, the stock ones tucked away.....I even bought brand new Walnut ones from Colt for the new Detective Specials. ALL of my Colts have factory wood tucked away. Thats the biggest mistake people made in the 80s.....trading wood for rubber.....I wasn't one of them thank goodness!
@snarlingrabiddog5150 thats good because when i got my model 19 it came with some rubber grips that were nice but not origional and i ended up spnding $80 for smith and wesson to make me some new origional style grips
@00000stephen I just slapped down $70 bucks (great deal btw) for a new set of Colt factory Walnut Python grips for my 2 1/2" python. It has the new factory grips on it that are flawless, but those grips aren't going to be around forever so I grab them while I can! Rubber will NEVER replace wood, but as far as shooting guns, I actually like rubber. Recoil kicks my @ss. I don't have big arms and man the heavy loads kill me, lol. Once I zero in I'm fine but those first few shots....DUCK! lol.
Your Model 19 is a nice gun but you should shoot it. If it were a pinned and recessed model I would tell you to leave it in its Like New condition. Although Smith is reintruducing their "Classic" series they aren't as good IMHO as the originals due to the pinned barrels and recessed cylinders. Along with the locks as you pointed out in the video. My guess is you have a 19-5 there. Again a very nice gun.
@Nitnyline Thanks. I have considered may times to shoot it, but I want to keep this one unfired. The S&W model 66 is a great gun for that in stainless. While they may not be quite the same as the originals, I'm glad S&W offers the "Classic" series so that everyone can at least get something pretty darn close and have fun with them. I really wish Colt would do that, but I don't see it ever happening sad to say.
@snarlingrabiddog5150 I agree with you on that. Colt should do a run of snake guns and regardless of the dollar amount they put on them people will line up to buy them. 1 other thing about current Smiths compared to the older ones like yours: the hammers. You have a real hammer there nowadays everything is set off with that transfer bar contraption. Take it easy and again thats a real nice guin you have there.
@Nitnyline I carried a 4-inch .38 on my duty belt for a while and it was the new generation type with the lock. I liked it a lot but I never cared for the safety lock. It was a very good shooter but I had to switch to a Sig 229 .40 cal. I'll always like wheelguns better though. Thanks for the comment :)
@snarlingrabiddog5150 I love Sig and my personal favorite is the P229 in .357sig. I have a nickeled P229 in .40 that probably looks a lot like your duty gun did. Take it easy and shoot that gun!
@pancho0022 They sure are. I always loved the look of this particular model and the features are just really well done on this gun. I never liked the insert change on sights for guns of this nature. I think it kind of detracts from the gun and its intended purpose and breaks the lines of the design. I used to know how much just about every handgun brought up until a few years ago. This one, I haven't looked into. I know the Colt values but Smith's I just haven't looked into lately.
Yea I really like the way it feels in the hand really comfortable, and i agree with you on the sights I think they look a little bulky for the gun. But other than that I think it looks great. Thnx
@pancho0022 Thanks :) I may have mis-spoke about the sight change. I was referring to Smith & Wesson adding inserts on the front. I'm actually crazy about the sights on this gun. While this one is unfired, I DO shoot others and I have found the sights that have inserts on them don't make much difference. The adjustable rear is nice. This one doesn't have dots or a white outline on the blade in the rear, its old school. I'm a big fan of old school, haha. I love the 66 model a lot.
Yeaa the sights are great, but to me they are kinda bulky with the slim mod 19 but i still think its great. Old school is great I love the colt .45's "peacemaker" lol maybe thats too old school haha, but i still hope to get one when ever i have enough for one of those beauties.
@pancho0022 I really want a Peacemaker bad in .45 LC. My uncle had a mint Buntline that was amazing. I have a Vaquero. Its just not a Colt, never will be. I'm hoping to get one someday. They just keep getting harder to find and when I do find one, its always at the wrong time for me to drop the cash down for it. The longer I wait, the more I'll pay, but I hope I can get one for my western rigs. They deserve the real deal :)
@Mr291229 I still have it. I'm going to keep it. Its just too nice of a gun to sell. It will remain in my collection until long after I'm gone :) Glad you guys like it though! :)
Snarlingrabiddog: I'm glad you wisely refuse to part with your .357 Legend.
-A most respectable independent source, -The Russian Military, -Have a whole range of weapons; -AS Val; 9A 91; Gyurza pistol; -All intended specifically for combatting terrorists & hardened criminals. -And all based on what US Sources already long knew: High energy 9mm (ie, .357 Magnum).
I'm glad you chose to keep your best investment & defender close to your Heart.
@wifebeater756 Hi, I've decided to hold on to it as well as all of my guns and weapons. I'm glad you like it! Its the most beautiful Smith & Wesson snubby hand-cannon they produced, in my opinion. I love their .44 snub in stainless, but this bluing is really deep and its more controllable than a .44 in 3-inch. I haven't fired it and bought it new. I have a couple other Smiths that I carry and fire. I ALMOST carried this on the job but I decided to carry several others and kept this mint.
@Mr45Bullitt I think it has the most beautiful lines of any snub revolver, even sleeker than my Python and Diamondback snubs. Theres just a streamlined look to the shrouded ejector sweeping forward to the barrel. I may get one in .44 Magnum stainless, 3" . Recoil would be stiff, but one made in the 80's would be great to have. Cocobolo grips :)
Thank ya! When I bought it new, I paid $325.00 for it. I loved the K-frame snubs. I wish I would have grabbed a S&W .44 with a 3" barrel. I think that may have been an L-frame, it was just one hell of a big handgun. There is a video of one on here thats just beautiful. I saw one on Gunsamerica, but those are pretty easy to get a hold of even today. This particular model was really popular. I just loved the way that it looked and loved the deep bluing that came on it.
(Case hardened trigger & hammer, unpinned barrel, uncountersunk cylinder & mirror polished blued -A la US Secret Service Issue.)
One of the All-Time Great Handguns.
If you're lucky enough to live in a civilised country that ensures the right to personal freedom, then make That Man a VERY SERIOUS offer for his 'unfired' S&W M19.
Thank you very much for the comment! I've decided to hang on it. It would be a shame to let it go. Since it is new and is one of my few Smith&Wessons, it is a classic that I really should keep in my collection. I'm glad people still appreciate these wheelguns. My first love is Colts, but this is a neat one and has beautiful lines and finish. Have a great day!
I picked it up at a gun store in 1981 if memory serves me right. I still have the factory box and all the paperwork, even the receipt and of course the original wood grips for it. I replace them on most of my Colts to preserve the wood and too keep them from getting damaged. I also am very careful about storage and avoid box wear. Glad you like it. If I decide to sell it I'll let you know. I will probably keep it. Its a beautiful gun and I really love the K-frames S&W makes.
Not that vintaged....No pinned barrel or recessed cylinders!

Behold, The Smith & Wesson Model 19-5
(Case hardened trigger & hammer, unpinned barrel, uncountersunk cylinder & mirror polished blued -A la US Secret Service Issue.)
One of the All-Time Great Handguns.
If you're lucky enough to live in a civilised country that ensures the right to personal freedom, then make That Man a VERY SERIOUS offer for his 'unfired' S&W M19.
-Beautiful video, Snarlingrabiddog5150 !!!

PM me before you list it... I'm curious how much you might want for it. Late 1970's, early 80's?

I picked it up at a gun store in 1981 if memory serves me right. I still have the factory box and all the paperwork, even the receipt and of course the original wood grips for it. I replace them on most of my Colts to preserve the wood and too keep them from getting damaged. I also am very careful about storage and avoid box wear. Glad you like it. If I decide to sell it I'll let you know. I will probably keep it. Its a beautiful gun and I really love the K-frames S&W makes.

Sounds good... Thank-you for showing off some of your collection, too. It's not everyday I get to see one of these in minty condition.
