Even so, I'm still upset that the princess couldn't marry one of the other princes. It's such a sad ending knowing they can't be together because they're putting others before themselves. ;c

@MOREfunXD the ending isn't stupid. you just don't get it. the point is making the sacrifice to selflessly put something of greater importance above yourself. had they ended up together the treaty would have been broken and many lives would have been pointlessly lost.
Asian films usually tend to have a bitter feel around the end ("Hero" is a similar example, or Warrior, ect.).
To be honest, I like this ending a bit better. This shows how politics even in that time owned the life of the nobility. Literally here :P Plus, life is not as happy-go-around as portrayed in the Disney films X) True, they are made for different audience XD
I am glad for the bitter ending because this is reality. Not some sort of happy ending every time Disney comes up with. Compared to the cartoon version, this one reveals the realness and horrors of battle. Which makes me like this version of the movie better.

Brilliant movie. It shows the true grim nature of war. Something Disney dudnt show. Much better plot and a much higher depth of characterization. The Cast were great. Bitter-sweet ending. It really makes you think; yeah they won the war but at what cost
