i have a POF*usa upper on a RRA lower, fantastic rifle..and POF has IMO the best customer serves of any firearms company i have delt with..chris their CS rep. is fantastic and helped me out with a problem with no charge no to me even after my warrenty was long gone, they are a company that stands behind there rifles..and the POF system uses no prings unlike the HK system which i perfer due to the lack of wear..I would buy a hk over a POF unless it cost less... and i HAVE fired and striped both
There are some physical differences between HK 416 and POF-USA. The two systems are not identical. Which is better? Good question! Since you do not have the hot gases reaching the bolt carrier area, it stays much cooler. It does not get dirty and hot as much as in the original DI design.
@BestLaidPlans POF is better, much better. The Gas Piston system can be removed in seconds with just the twist of the Piston lug by the end of the barrel (not that you would ever need to removed the Gas Piston System in the combat siuation because POF-USA rifles function flawlessly without lube all the time). In the HK416 us must remove the entire hand guard, which involves removing two screws that must be unscrewed with the "teeth" of it's M4/M16 style extractor.
I originally tried mating the POF upper to my RRA lower but they would not mate. I tried a DPMS lower at my local gun shop and it fit perfectly. So I ordered a DPMS lower through my gun shop and put the sweet RRA two stage trigger in the DPMS lower.
one of my friends (cop and getting the ffl lisence) is getting the 12'' barrel m4 with a silencer and he said i get to shoot it! yayy!!!

ahhh the patriot ordnance copy of the HK 416 upper system...

I bump-fired four 30rd mags through the P-415 in about two minutes. I then removed the bolt-carrier and was surprised to find it cool to the touch.
