I love La Sombra...I have good memories from the good and bad ass dances in Homestead, Florida.....Have some nice pictures of gavino and me and tiger...those were the good old days...I have a daughter 16yrs.old and tell her about La Sombra...She said Mom they look so cute...Old school the best....
la sombra got famous on the johny canales show,in the 80's along with the mafia,other bands did not make it that big, like,lalo y los descalsos, fandango u.s.a., jaime y los chamakos ,estrella,pegasso,oh,brindis did make it big, but there not tx mex.

They got the name "Windy City Boys" because Illinois is automatically associated with the big city - Chicago. To avoid any confusion on the band's origin, promoters in the state of TX began calling the band "Windy City Boys", which sounds way better than "City of Lights Boys" - another title placed on the town of Aurora IL.

They were a Cumbia band, but also were a show band, they covered and write alot of english songs....A majority of there shows since they begain performing, they would start the performance with a rock, pop, or even rap song...........
