  • Sorry mate I did not know that, Didnt mean to be a pain in the butt. You handled that old banger really well.

  • Did you realise that this rifle holds ten rounds in the magazine, you should not have to keep using the stripper clips.

  • Range rule of only three rounds in the rifle at one time.

  • your really really slow

  • Your Lee Enfield looks a lot like mine. The only difference of course is that I still have the wood color finish. I was wondering if you knew the year of your's. Mine has 1943 stamped on it but just about every other Lee that I look up has the wood all the way to the end of the barrel. Mine is like yours, the wood only goes so far then the rest of the barrel is on it's own. I was wondering if you knew any more about the weapon and why some where made this way and others made a different way.

  • Mine is a 1952 No 4 Mk 2 (F). Yours could have been trimmed like I did to mine. I cut the forend and put a monte carlo style buttstock on mine. The old bayonet style stock wasnt all that good for speed shooting, so I just modded it a little. The barrel and receiver are still stock.

  • I don't think people need to get majorly upset in sporterising enfields - if it's a neat, maintained one then you'd deserve a punch in chops, but if the furniture is all damaged or rotting, or whatever, sporterising it doesn't bother me at all.

Heck, it's much cooler alternative to a lever gun or pump (or semiauto for that matter) for something with superfast rpm potential. And if it tightens your groups, then you can really really practice at embarrassing ppl with .308s and .30-06s!

  • @MrHellyeah2010 Yeah the very front of the forend looked like something chewed on it. But the rifling is in like prefect condition, so I didnt see the harm in updating it. At least I didnt chop the barrel like most people do, so if I would find some really nice furniture I might one day go back. And I might be American but I fucking love the Enfield. 10 rounds of 303 that is faster than most bolts could ever dream of being.

  • @SamLFisher Yeah that's the thing too - you can always go back to the old timber furniture if ya want to.

And i love how you appreciate the enfield - from what i gather most americans don't like them much, or just don't realise their potential (i know .303 ammo is a bit scarce in the states though). They're still really popular here in australia coz they're just so good for knocking off big groups of feral pigs or goats in rapid succession - love that sweet bolt and 10 round mag!

  • @MrHellyeah2010 You are right about the ammo being a little hard to find at times. That is why I save and load my own shells. And since the tips are hard to find I just buy corrosive surplus 7.62x54mmR ammo and just use a bullet puller and take the FMJ tips. They both use a 7.9mm tip so it is a time comsuming process but I get to shoot my Enfield a shit load.

  • @SamLFisher Oh yeah i had never thought of that. Have you ever tried the .311 bullets that'd be normally in a 7.62x39mm cartridge? I read on a forum a post by a bloke (i'm not sure if he was american, aussie, canadian or what), but he used those sometimes in his handloading. i think they were 125gr bullets, if memeory serves me correctly... i guess you might be able to take smallish-medium sort of game (if you hunt with it of course lol) without blowing it to pieces... at least in theory haha.

  • @MrHellyeah2010 I just talked to my friend, who reloads more then I could dream of doing. He said that as long as your rifling is in good shape you should be able to use the 7.62x39mm 124 gr FMJ tip. But he does not recommend using the loading data because it will throw the bullet beyond 3000 fps which can destroy your rifling. He says using 10 to 15 grs less than the reloading data says and if possible to crono the speed of the bullets. Anything from 2500 to 2700 fps is good.

  • @MrHellyeah2010 I love my .303 too - live in South Africa. Question though - can you have these in Aus?? I thought that you guys were almost as bad as the UK in banning absolutely anything at all that can go "bang"...?

  • @rylan76 Hey mate. We're not quite as bad as the UK. It's semiautos, handguns, and repeating shotguns that are basically illegal here. So we can still have our bolt, pump and lever rifles, but basically only single or double barrel shotguns, and pretty much no handguns. You can get a H license to have handguns, but it's hardly worth all the redtape you have to get through :(

But when the idiots in the cities finally vote in the Greens, and guns are completely banned, I'll be hunting them! lol

  • atleast he is out shooting his classic rifle. instead of letting it collect dust on a shelf or a gun case. i also have a synthetic stock on my .303 good luck with your gun man. mine brought my groups alot closer.

  • Thanks. I can get about 5 inch groups at 100 when I am pumping the rounds through the Enfield. But if I take my take I can 2 inch groups.

  • @SamLFisher i was hitting around 5 inch groups at 600 yards with mine. i just realized yours is a mk2 mine is a mk1.

  • I dont have a range past 150 to shoot at, so I like to just speed shoot.

  • I agree with benny704......you ruined a once beautiful rifle...

  • The stock was made for bayonet charges not really shooting, I wanted to be able to handle the gun better so I put the Monte Carlo stock. Which now my group are even better.

  • dont say anything about cod either i dont play it

  • ruined the whole purpose of having one if its gonna look like that

  • I made my Enfield better to handlw and shoot. If dont like then dont do it to yours. And I dont know what you mean about call of duty??

  • @SamLFisher

He is saying don't "sporterize" an older rifle. If you want one to look modern buy a modern one.

Leave the collector rifles in their original form.
