Ok so, after going to several dermatologists, allergists, general practitioners, NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE! omg!!!! No one has even taken a biopsy!!! I came home last month from a dermatologist and just broke down crying because he literally brushed me off and wouldnt even let me tell him my symptoms. He just did what every other doctor has done and gave me a prescription for a cream! So tired of this! One doctor actually mentioned Angioedema, but he said he wouldnt know without a biopsy.
@PinkFloydCa I feel your pain. I started having this problem last year and went straightaway to an allergist, as I have a history of several allergies. It was the biggest waste of time and money ever. They initially thought it was a thyroid issue, but then acted like my crazy numbered test was no big deal, and I ultimately got the brush off. I get them from my collarbone down to my thighs, some the size of golf balls or larger!
I have had urticaria for ten years. I have had rashes on every part of my body. They itch horribly and then they swell and it feels like a big bruise after the itch goes away. My eyelids, my lips, my fingers, my toes, anywhere can swell up, itch, and become very painful. It can come from tight cloths, tight shoes, sitting on one spot too long. Yes I know EXACTLY what you are going through. The only thing I have found to help is Zyrtec (Citerzine). Very warm water sometimes helps too.
As a long time sufferer of this I feel for any young person experiencing this. The problem with the meds your daughter is on is that it's a short fix for a long term issue and will eventually have adverse affects on her health, especially the steroids. Try Zyrtec (Citerzine is the active ingredient) You can get either at most drug stores OTC. If I take one a day it pretty much controls it. SomI have found it the most effective, least expensive, medication with the least side effects.
Currently, I have it on my left hand, the back of my right thigh, the back of my right arm. I have noticed that often times my asthma acts up in conjunction with the rashes either before, during, or after which leads me to suspect that the rash is in reaction to something I eat, wear, or breath but I have not yet figured out what that is. I took myself off of wheat about 35 days ago and that has had a great affect on how often I suffer from rashes and/or asthma. Hope this helps you guys.
so I'm wondering if maybe a fluke thing might be happening with me. Maybe since I have this virus of common warts, my body is attacking it, but in a horrible way lol.
I have been to several different types of doctors and still no solution, I am not giving up hope though and am still getting different opinions from other doctors. I have noticed though that in the spots I break out, I seem to have VERY small common warts, I didnt even know they were there. I guess you can get them from even touching a store door after someone who has the common wart virus has touched it.
...ran out of characters, ha! :) But anyhow, I had to research it myself finally, and it took me forever to come across this, and all I've learned is that there is not much knowledge about it, and it is rare. For me it is familial, because my Sister has it too, I discovered recently, and when I told my Mom that I couldn't ride a bike because of it, she recalled her Mom saying the same thing! So it skipped a generation, cause my Mother has never had an issue with it.
It took me six years to figure out on my own that I have this! I thought it was just a symptom of my third pregnancy that never went away! LoL :) It's awful, just today I went golfing, and everywhere the golf club touched with an ounce of pressure, is now swollen and profusely itchy! I have lost jobs because they couldn't understand why I couldn't walk cause of a golf ball sized lump, and I didn't understand either. Doctors treat me like I am nuts when it comes to it, and didn't have a clue!
I get this too and I also itch like crazy.
