  • I was dating a guy once that was a diabetic... of course, I'm a diabetic also, so if we were both low at the same time, sparks flew! I get horribly mean when I'm low, and so did he... He acutally had to physically force me to eat once. Like almost have to sit on me and pry my mouth open.

  • This is great! Im 15 and I've been a diabetic for 8 years. How do you keep your blood sugar so stable? My doctors think it's just adolescence, but my blood sugar has been a bit wacky lately.

  • I love this video! I know im the diabetes police and I know my boyfriends HATES it, but i think this video might help him to see it from my perspective, and the fact that its comming from another diabetic I think means alot. Im really not just being a nag, Its because I care. I dont think he realizes that the 'diabetic' side of him isnt the easiest person to be in a relationship with

  • I HATE the diabetes police! They always make me feel like I cannot manage myself or I am irresponsible. If I have a hypo and the diabetes police come out to question me, I will get just like you described, but worse! Makes me feel like they think I cannot manage my LIFE!

  • ROLF! @7:15, he laughs at himself like, "Really, guy? Really?" Oh well, if he didn't have a sense of humor, the whole video wouldn't have been as good. Kudos!

  • hey! ok i work with a diabetic an its hell!!! i try to understand his constant mood swings wich are mainly erational rude abusive angry an hes a genaral prick! anything i can do to chill him out or somthin? coz its realy effecting me :(

  • diabetes police shirt would be awsome

  • i just want to say that this video actually made me cry! there is alot of truth in it... for both sides of diabetes. i just want to say Thank you for trying to inform some people of how diabetes affects our everyday lives. Thanks! Kudos to You!!!

  • Thanks so much for your comment. You are so welcome!

  • Yesterday my husband of 22yrs was diagnosed with type 2 adult onset db with a level blood sugar of 330. He was put on medication in the form of a pill. I don't know how to deal w/his moods& hatefulness towards me. He loses his temper all the time and acts like he hates me & if this behavior continues I will leave him as I'm crying all the time due to him being verbally hurtful towards me. I love him dearly & he has my full support, I don't know how to handle this........please help!

  • @4smokers1 Hi there, I can promise you that things WILL get better between you and your husband in time, I am sorryt o say that this is just the early stages of the condition, I have it,it has taken nearly three years to work it all out, I am on insulin now and I am much better for now and I manage it to the best I can, it will never be easy though, what I mean by this is that there will be good days and also bad, but don't be negative, you and your husband will get through this fine,

  • Sorry for waisting your time, but if you could give me an advie i will be happy to listen.Best of luck and good health !

  • LOVE this post! I identified with it very much, Bill. I can't wait to have sit down with my husbie and watch it with him! He'll think, "...this guy's JUST like YOU!" =) Thanks Bill!

  • You are so welcome! :-)

  • you're amazing ! x

  • amazing bill! sounds just like me. when my sugar is high or low im not myself. it sucks cause i look like a jagoff to my family, friends, and girlfriend, but im not, im just "being diabetic". but ugh i hate the diabetes police. like cmon ive been diabetic for like four years i know what im doing. but i guess its just my love ones trying to care...still, im the expert amongst them. no one understands unless they have the beetis.... *sigh* cure it!

  • Oh come on you love the diabetes police.... lol.... Yeah it gets annoying for sure... if you just cave in, its not so bad :-)

I think you are right, you know what you are doing but your family doens't. I just just ry to exlain it to them and what bothers you about your diabetes and what you've figured out. I'll tell the police to put the shots down!!! :-) Have a good one buddy!

  • I'm only new at all this, and someone complained about me at work, even though I'd explained to him that I'd only snapped at him because my bloods were dropping really fast and I was sorry. I hate him now and can't even look at him. So thanks for this vid cos you said it all.

  • Awesome video! I DEFINITELY can relate to this. My diabetes had a great effect on my relationship with my ex fiance. I was taking the N and R for a long time and having major lows frequently. I finally ended up going to the endroconologist and switching to Lantus and Novolog. I finally got my sugars situated and she ended up leaving me. That was about 3 years ago. I'm glad I'm not with her now, but I know I did put her through a lot of heartaches and scares with the lows. Live and learn

  • Thanks for your comment. No one coaches you through relationships and this disease. The lows can be beyond scarry. I feel so bad when my wife has had to help me with those, even seizures. I couldn't believe having someone you love, look like they are not going to make it. Thanks again.

  • You are awesome, Bill! Thanks for the DL on the 'highs' and 'lows' of relationship bG testing :) I'll be sure to give the "bG 101" course to the next suitor in line. Your video rocks and your lighting was perfect!

  • What is your BG 101 course? Thanks for the lighting props! I was having trouble posting this video as a response to yours. Not sure what was wrong.

  • gosh i know what you mean. my bf of 5 years knows when i am low and high!! and tells me to chill and check my blood

  • dude you rock!!!

  • first comment! oh yeah

  • No, DUDE you rock too. Thanks!

  • Hi Bill,

I am not Diabetic, but I do have a diabetic friend(Type 1), and I can't even get into how inspiring it is watch her manage her diabetes. So I somehow just found your video, looking for diabetes related info.

I am so glad to see that you are so positive, responsible, self-aware and strong. I am sure it's reassuring to your wife as well:). Thanks for spreading awareness; it's so crucial that people know about diabetes- more so non-diabetics.
