We were so lucky to grow up with this music in Manchester - it is a shame so many found it too difficult to deal with. The legacy lives on though & the youth of the world continue to discover Joy Division - 1 million stars!!!
If you love Joy Division please check out The Deep Transition on facebook. They are heavily influenced by The Horrors and Joy Division. You will not be sorry you checked. Thank you

I've lost control before. I'm on the same meds Ian Curtis was on carbemazepine. I know what it's like to lose control. This song does justice to losing control. It's brilliant. I wish Ian stayed longer, if he only could have hung on just a little longer. But, he lost control. :(
This song isn't about Ian Curtis. Ian wrote this about a girl he helped in the employment office he worked in. She had epilepsy and when he called her to check in on her she had died from an epileptic fit. This was even before Ian found out he had epilepsy which is completely mental.
This song is about a girl, not Ian. But I feel for you brother.
@addylewis nope- granted they were conventionally known as the MADchester band, Joy Division was a for-runner of this since it was started by Tony Wilson and Factory records granted not known THE MADchester bands but helped start it, they helped Create the magic.
Cold Wave? What the fuck is cold wave? Okay, listen, you kids can't keep making up new classes of music. You can't decide thirty years later that some band is "blah blah blah" instead of what they were classified as when they were around. What the fuck is cold wave anyways?
Nope - "MADchester" was mid-late 80's with rubbish bands like the Happy Mondays and Stone Roses...who incorporated house music into the Manchester sound
A 5 star song: She's Lost Control - Joy Division [Salford, Greater Manchester, England] - 1979 - "AMG Pick. The song centres on Peter Hook's cool, droning, minimalist bassline formed over a methodical and mechanistic drum beat, courtesy of Stephen Morris. Live, the song would be played at a faster pace, and much more aggressive,..." - Substance 1977-1980 (Qwest)-1988.
Its too late but Joy Division has a new fan :-)

Ian Curtis y una chica que perdió el control (presumiblemente en Manchester: o sea que perdió el control a la inglesa; una loca...)
florpaltrinieri 3 months ago
I once lived with a student girl just like the one in this song. In S. Manchester too.
Her name was Amanda.
She was a schizophrenic, used to hit me in the street for no reason.
I used to take the bus out to Alderley Edge ( the edge of life) to get away from the stress.
Therefore this tune quite, er, pertinent you understand.
