  • what a legend. pity there arent more people like him in the world.

  • even though this clip isn't that sad, it made me cry... what a great man.

  • I admire this man for being an "ordinary man" (his words) that used words and smarts to save himself, family and all the people in the hotel. Remarkable man, remarkable story. We as Americans should never let our government turn its back again on genocide.

  • thanks God there are people like this guy in this world of indifference...

  • i'm sorry did i just hear the guy say 800 million dats got to be wrong

  • true bravery and courage right there. he is somebody we should ALL admire, support, and aspire to be more like.

  • Great man Paul is.

  • from hell to Hollywood?wow is rwanda hell now

  • He has a big heart ! and now god blessed him !!

  • amazing person..everyone needs to learn from this man.

  • TO THE IDIOT WHO TYPED THIS--- "Niggers are of no value to society, they bring diseases, and even those fortunate enough to live in a first world country cant control there testosterone levels because of lack of knowledge and undesirability to learn, they end up becoming abusive ppl who do drugs and just wanna have sex, i wish all of africa just got nuked... The world would be a much happier/drug-free place " GET A LIFE DUDE, ALL HUMANS ARE EQUAL

  • 2:20 , he says over 800 million people:P

  • A HERO ......

  • aaammm, the guy giving speech at 2:21, it is over 8 hundred thousand, not 8 hundred million!! 800 million is more than half of china's population!!! fucktard american...

  • is that all you can think about that, hmm cause i think in that subject that people are careless freaks of money and comfort and it is a shame that the people who want to help and will do ANYTHING to help are not in power

  • "I don't believe that I saved lives. I helped people who were in need."

Is there any way to express what you feel about those words? All I can muster up is a, "Damn."

  • 2:23 He exaggerated just a liiitle bit xD

  • Paul Rusesabagina = Absolute Legend

  • 2:22...."over 800 million ppl were killed"

  • its the ledge himself

  • Amazing man

  • and a very unselfish man

  • respect to paul

  • This man is a true hero! I am completely speechless! Absolute legend! You are an inspiration to us all Paul!

  • 2:22 he says, 800 million people were killed..

    1/5 of the world

    WTF? is that true..

  • @Fondrom hahah I heard the same thing, I just watched the movie in SS class and it was about 800000 to 1000000 people

  • paul u r a very good man and god bless u for that

  • We need God's intervention in this part of the world....only he can do some good....let's rely on nations anymore....let's pray...Amen.

  • nations, they aint gonna do shit, people are animals, the only thing they care about is money, people say oh i care and how awful it is these things in africa, and dont do shit, i want to i want to fight, i just need to grow a little, get some men, and high tech guns and im off

  • Paul, you are amazing... God gave you an amazing mind to help so many... I just saw your movie tonight... I cried... God will do justice to all that are worthy one day.

  • he is a real hero

  • his story was real?

  • based on true!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes did you see the movie? Its amazing

  • Yes.

  • ya ...

  • he is a hero bcause i would had took my family and role out he was offerd many but rejected and he insperierd a 8 year old child

  • Yea, I would have rolled out as soon as I got the chance to. He stayed because he believed in something bigger: his people. Love is a crazy thing. He inspired me, but to hear that an 8 year old was inspired by this movie, inspires me too! :)

  • GOD BLESS HIM!

  • He is a real life Hero,,,,, Well done Paul....

  • How can someone live knowing they killed someone?!?!?!

  • Paul Rusesabagina, The only Hero of Rwanda. At the time of the Rwandan Genocide. Every other government turned themselves away to Rwanda and just watch Black African People slaughter eachother in the most violent way. Respect due to Rusesabagina and Also Respect due to Paul Kagame. If it weren't for him, Rwanda would have had no Tutsi's whatsoever. The two Hero's of Rwanda. Kagame And Rusesabagina.

  • We need more people on the planet like this who knows we are all one and every man is your brother. Know that what you do to the other you are doing to yourself

  • ese si es un heroe no putas mamadas

  • Wow...man, he's amazing.

  • it was around 800 thousand speople !!!!!!!!!! 800 millions impossible

  • what we need is a rise to power to end all the suffering it would be an amaizing feat if Africa banded into one Large super power country- but it shall never happen due to language and ethnic disputes it is quite sad actualy may god help Africa

  • ... that's extremely naive thinking.

  • then teach them english. yes its a shame, but it had come down to english. teach them english.

  • listen. to. yourself. that is the single most stupid thing i have ever heard. the last thing this world needs is another super power. in case you haven't noticed, but the more power a country gains, the more likely it's going to implode with rebels. no one likes an empire, except the rich

  • i agree

  • where did the man in this video get 800million rwandans killed from? it was 1million

  • do u really believe all the heroic tales from this movie??? I have the right to question its integrity

  • so what do you think really happpened?

  • ye....maybe they SLIGHTLY as its a movie added a few things, but basicly the whole movie is true, there were what 1200 survivors to tell the tales

  • I don't,the movie is half fictional,I just believe this man has a real kind heart and didn't take part in the genocide, people really got saved staying at the hotel whatever ethnicities they belong to;actually he never asked for anything, the movie made him an hero,I don' t care, thanks God these people get saved

  • The thngs that happened were all real and the things he did were too but hollywood always exaggerates. If you see pictures you will see that this was all real, and the roads were really covered in bodies.

  • this is a genocide based on a true story. In movies things are altered, but their made to look real and truthful so that people learn

  • i'm sorry but no matter what movies are meant to entertain. maybe they'll send some message, but really, in america, they're meant to entertain.

  • i had a friend called lawrence mogishu who was one of thousands that fled rwanda through uganda after his whole family was murdered by hutu militia. he came to london as a refuge and tried to apply for asylum. from 2000 to 2004. i havent seen him since nov 2003. i heard he was deported back to rwanda. till this day i dont know weather he is alive or dead. all i know is that he managed to locate his sister who he found out was alive. i only hope and pray he is alive and well.

  • ure the best man.god bless u.

  • I was so lucky to have had a one-on-one session with him. I even got an autograph and shook his hand. He was so courageous and heroic that I cannot even imagine!

  • your incredable not many people would do that me included. God bless you

  • i probably wouldnt have either, only thoise close to me

  • black's jew's and other races have been victims of war and judged because of there race..yes there was white people there, but the haven't suffered liked other races have..they didn't help much because it was black people killing out them self's..we all have two hands and two feets..and we use it they same way.laugh get mad, sad, and yet we will never be all counted as one human race..and speaking as a black woman..some young black men these days is not making it any easier.

    it's time to change

  • Thanks for this vid - I'm really worried about what's happening in the Congo right now, this video helps encourage me to feel justified in trying.

  • The reality are real. Rusesabagina is a true hero and an inspiration to many of us. I speak first as a Rwandan and second as a citizen of the world. We should condemn injustice and genocide regardless of our color, tribe, nationality or status. Blessings and respect to Paul Rusesabagina

  • This Africans claiming that Paul did nothing are being too much of assholes. That is why saving an african life is simply not worthy it. they never appreciate. Now, they are spreading lies and propaganda about Paul. What is his crime? accusing Kagame of committing atrocities. Yes, Kagame and his cronies should face justice. one of them has already been arrested in Germany. Carry your cross and stop blaming Paul Rusesabagina. Ungrateful pigs

  • at 2:22 there's a huge fact flaw - the speaker say in the 100 days, 800 million people were killed. This is not true. 800,000 people were killed. Still a lot but 800 million is almost the population of china!

  • yea ur absolutely right, and cmon 800 million? thats just ridiculous.

not even the natzis killed that many.

  • cmon man! 800 million is a ridiculous amount! About 1 million ppl died!

  • half of the population

  • paul is the definition of a true hero,

risking his life and the lives of the people he loved to save so many people.

we need more peole like this in the world.

africa is a beautiful country, and it is unfortunate things like this that make people think otherwise.

  • just wanted to make a correction africa is not a country but a continent.thanks

  • Fox news actually giving a black guy props?! Oh my God, has hell frozen over!!!

  • He inspires me.

  • White soldiers died, Rusesabagina did not. The whole thing was in africa. Now the white people are the cowards?

  • God bless Paul Russabagina, God blass Rwanda and Africa

God damm Canada the United States, Belgium and the rest of the racist white western world for turning its back on Africa in its time of need. The Nuremberg Trials have confirmed in actual fact that genocide will never happen again in white society. But until economic superiority comes to Africa their lives and their dignity will have to wait.

    Former Canadian Peacekeeper

  • I agree in principle that primarily "white" wealthy nations have raped the world for its resources while neglecting to actually help the people..but I think you're making enemies out of friends with such general statements.

I am Canadian, as was Roméo Dallaire, who did the best he could to persuade the U.N. that action was necessary. You'll find many of us willing to stand up and yell "no more!" at these self-indulgent institutions.

  • Hey buddy the

UN solidger in rhwanda that saveed those lives was canadian

you have to get all the facts b4 u cuss

of course the superpowers dont do enough it would seem but they cant fix the entire world.

    BTW where did u serve

  • Pfft. UN soilders didnt do shit. They stood around with their guns while they died, because they refused to attack the `innocent` civilians.

Tutsi rebels are the ones that drove the Hutsu out, not the UN forces. Yes, they may have transported some refuges, but they mainly, from the Movies point of view, wanted to get the white people out, so they didnt have to get involved.

  • On the contrary; the (extremely reduced) UN peacekeepers did a lot to save the lives of Tutsi. The events of the Ecole Techniques were deplorable, though.

Blame the Secretary General and the Security Council at the time for specifically banning the use of force, as well as preventing the peacekeepers from confiscating the Interahamwe's main weapon cache.

Not that I'm particularly disagreeing with you about the UN's failiures. It failed Rwanda utterly, same way its failing the DRC now.

  • i'm very upset by your comment !!! God bless Africa you say ?? also the african killers of millions of innocent people ??? who killed children and women in the villages and in the streets ??? white or blacks ?? are you stupid or just racist ??

    Hugo

  • hulead, i'm very upset by your comments ! God bless Africa ?? also for african killers who killed millions of innocent people along the years in the whole Africa ?? are the killers white or blacks ???? who killed the babies and the women in the villages and in the streets ?? Blacks or whites ? are you stupid or just racist or both ??

    Hugo

  • políticos cagones

    aprendan de este tipo,

    doctorado en AGUANTE

nah, no lo van a aprender

  • Paul is a man who would give his all , for the lives of others.

    A true inspiration and legend.

What a man. Truly one in a million

  • There are Wikipedia articles and other sources on the facts. I suggest people that really want to post something well concluded, try some.

Always keep in mind that the facts are there, but you can only discover them using sources. *choosing* sources is totally subjective, either you see the movie, listen to Mr.Rusesabagina speak or read youtube comments.

The one fact we can all agree upon is the death of many people under multiple excuses of people guiding blind armies.

    Keep that in mind.

  • Paul is real hero

  • "There were many people who died trying to help their neighbors. And all of those who died, no one calls them heroes. Because if there are many Tutsis who survived, they were saved by their neighbors. To me, those neighbors, those victims, are the heroes. And, unfortunately, they seem to be forgotten."

-Paul Rusesabagina's take on heroism in Rwanda.

  • so are u saying that paul shouldn't be recognized for what he did?

  • no this is pauls words, what he believs

  • What a great man..God bless him..

  • your incredable not many ppl wld do that me included. god bless him xxxxxxxxxxx

  • At 2:23, he said over 800 million people---that can't be right! It had to have been over 800 thousand! Right!?

  • yes you're right

800 milion would be 2/3 of the world populiation

    Paul is a Hero!

    i could never do that!

  • 6,687,368,150 is the total population as of a few seconds ago. You may be interested to look at the world clock site on the web that shows birth and date rates as well as oil usage.

  • As much as i enjoyed this movie,&admittingly also loved the Paul Rusesabagina that we see in the film,i must admitt that Hinga's& Faust's opinions DO have a positive impact on the overall debate about this particular story& it's always nice that the story is many-sided. At the end of the day though,it is NOT really his person that should be the central issue here, but instead a whole range of issues regarding what kind of steps we can take to help Africa in the future!Thanx for ur fresh inputs.

  • He is a HERO. wish there where more PPL like him. Good Bless you!!

  • God Bless that man. He is such a hero. He is someone I would love to meet. He shows that One person CAN change the world. He even changed me...be4 I saw his movie Hotel Rwanda I didnt care about the rest of the world. But he made me realize that there is more to care about than the US. He is one hell of a man. The true hero. We should do something about Darfur. It makes me mad that people keep lying about "never again"

  • I just saw this movie in school, and I still can not begin to fathom the fact that this actually happened to a real person. If everyone in the world could show that kind of bravery and compassion, we would all be much better off.

    SAVE DARFUR

  • i would do anything to be like that man

  • Hotel Rwanda was a great story but what Rusesabagina forgot to say is that he made Tutsis pay money so that they could enter the hotel and those who had no money were chased away to be slaughtered and tortured on the streets.

  • For real!?

Is so, give me some resouces. :)

  • Respect.

  • Paul Rusesabagina is one of the most amazing me in the entire world. He's done so much to help people, yet he's still so modest.

  • wow. he's like superman in real life. (except so much better cuhs he doesn't wear panties over tights.)

he's so humble about it too. he's not like going around saying I SAVED A BUNCH OF PEOPLE AND GOT FAMOUS but he's like yeah. .he's awesome.

  • The movie was ok! Situation in Rwanda was like that by the time. Tutsis (like Rusesabagina,s wife)hiding to escape planned extermination. But the Hotel was not a target since they had a French communication team operating from there and the French were allies to the regime committing genocide. So Rusesabagina is just a Hollywood hero. Only the ones who could pay were admitted in the hotel. But I understand... It's not easy when you discover that Santa Claus is not for real.

  • Hotel Rwanda the movie, was close to the real events as they happened. But Paul Rusesabagina being a real life hero makes all Rwandans laugh. He refused entrance of his hotel to the ones who couldn't pay! Lucky businessman! But Hollywood is better than the truth isn't it?

  • Paul Rusesabagina is the true figure of a hero and a Saint, what he did was so moving there should be more people like him.SAVE DARFUR!

  • Paul Rusesabagina is a true inspirational person. NMot only for saving his family but also saving other lives.

  • He is a real hero, a brilliant person.

  • good man

  • This guy is an inspiration of what we should strive to be as people. That's what truly makes him a hero.

  • Rusesabagina, the greatest man ever to walk on the african Continent ... Keep up with the good work ... keep speaking for those who can't speak and you will be a great man.

  • A truly beautiful man
