  • My first German Shepard looked exactly like her! And her name was Roxy too! How funny...I had my dog for 14 years. She past away almost 9 years ago. I still remember the day I went to get her. She was so lovely. I still miss her very very much.

  • @sonaleer i hope roxxy is okay i loved your video, very touching. She looks like a very well taken care off dog :) How is she now with her hip?

  • @axelroach she does very well. when i overwork her, like 2+ hours at the dog park, we rest easy for the next couple days. but we never hit that point where she feels like she needs some anti-inflammatory meds. she's a great dog and loves to play more than i can sometimes.

  • @mitch231 Did you mean endurance*?

  • You have a beautiful dog, whines and yawning reminds me of my GSD who is snoring away beside me!

  • @americanpony11 Thank you :)

  • @sonaleer Your very welcome. :)

  • Hi I have a beautiful 6 month old German Shepherd, which I have had for 3 months. She is adorable except recently she has started biting my legs and jumping up to try bite my face (I think) when I take her for a walk. Is this normal?? Im not sure if she is trying to play as she doesnt growl at me but the last time, I got a little scared as she wouldnt stop for about 5 mins and it sort of hurt. This is my first dog. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

  • @tigerlili1234 Before I say anything, understand that I'm no animal behaviorist. I can only advise you from my personal experience. The biting sounds like she is getting really excited without you being able to calm her down. She could be excited about the walk or something else while on the walk. She could also be acting out by pulling on the leash. Many dogs do this.

  • @sonaleer

    Thanks very much for replying.

We are going to our first training lesson tomorrow, which Im very excited about!

She really is lovely and Im sure the lessons will help us both loads.

I wouldnt swap her for the world!

    Thanks :)

  • @tigerlili1234 Glad it's all working out for you!

  • @tigerlili1234 It sounds playful even though it hurts you. It would even be considered play if she play-growled while getting your attention. It's important that you nip these types of behaviors in the bud while she's young because it'll be harder to train a jumping giant when she's 100 lbs. I highly recommend reading some blogs or websites about GSD training. If you're willing to put in a couple hundred, hire a trainer to show you some basic commands.

  • @tigerlili1234 GSDs are VERY active learners and work well when they have a job to do. It would be in your best interest to have your girl learning simple commands like sit and lay with treats. Teach her as many commands as possible! It took me forever to get her to "come" while she was out romping in the grass. Commands work wonders in establishing your roles, primarily yours as pack leader. Good luck :) Hope this helps.

  • @tigerlili1234 it really sounds like they are bored. GSD are VERY active and need tons of toys. Also, be very consistent, don't tell them no one time then laugh about it another time. That will just confuse them. An easy way to get them to stop jumping up is: When they go to jump raise your leg up in front of them. Mine started nipping at my legs when she was about 6 months, so we got a back pack for her and put a water bottle in it. She felt like she had a job to do and was a lot calmer.

  • @tigerlili1234 German sheperds are sheperds so there trying to herd you basicly. It's natural instinct.

  • great dogs! mines great

  • talking =/= yawning

  • i have a german shepherd too and when he yawns, he whines like that, every single time. haha.

  • Say "Go out" and her head cocks over. Just like my King did.

    Rest in peace boy.

  • @71superbee3 <3 RIP

  • very inteligent and a very pretty girl

  • @MrDiamonds01 Thank you :)

  • @sonaleer your welcome, how old is she?

  • @MrDiamonds01 in this video she's two, but now she's four. i'll be uploading some more recent videos today :)

  • she's beautiful

  • @tdg7892 Thank you :)

  • Whenever your dog is doing that scared voice thing, I feel like reminiscing that Paranormal Activity scene... quite creepy. O____O

  • @KylaOyama AH! That part made me cry :(

  • @WithdrawKC it depends, if you want your GSD to be loyal to you, you shouldn't leave it alone so many times. But GSD are very good and fast learners but shed a lot of hair so groom him/her at least 3 or 4 times a week. As they are fast leaners they are not difficult to train but you need to tell them right from wrong, they also bite and chew a lot as puppies. GSD become destructive when bored so watch out. If you want more info just let me know :) hope this helped

  • I have a gsd named spencer we also put bandanas on him he is very vocal as well

  • So sweet!!! =)

love my GSD to death! shes spoiled!

  • aww i love PUPPIES!!!!!

  • Why do German Shepherd squeal so much ?

  • @1darkmesiah1 I wish I knew, but Roxy uses it as a true form of communication. It's how she gets my attention and tells me she needs something. Nine times out of ten I can tell what she needs the first time she whines cause I learn from her as much as she learns from me :)

  • Beautiful doggie :)

  • @xxplosiv88 Thanks! :)

  • Beautiful dog btw :)

  • @WithdrawnKC Thanks! :)

  • Hey, I have some questions about getting a GSD, and I'd really appreciate an answer :) I'm thinking about getting a puppy sometime. Would being home 5 hours a day on weekdays (school/sports/work take up other time, except for on the weekends, I have alot of time then) work out for the dog? I'd have a fence so it can be outside also. And when Im home id take alot of care of it and everything. But is that enough time for one? And also how hard was it to train and raise her when she was a puppy?

  • @WithdrawnKC Training roxy was a breeze, but that's mainly because I read SO MUCH on blogs and general dog interest sites about GSDs and training in general. It's important to be firm with puppies, especially GSDs cause they need boundaries and rules as much as love and affection, especially in the beginning. Because soon that 10 lb. puppy will be a 100 lb. puppy (or at least in my case) and it's easier to teach a puppy to not tug on the leash rather than an unruly, aggressive adult.

  • @WithdrawnKC I worked a lot the summer I got Roxy as an 8-week old puppy, so I wouldn't use it as a deterant to getting a puppy. The reason people tell you puppies need a lot of one-on-one time is because it's important to show them to use the bathroom a lot and as often as possible (live every 1-3 hours). Crating worked well for the potty training (I'd crate her while I was at work for 5-8 hrs and at night 6-8 hrs) but we never used it after that because she hated being so isolated.

  • Um can you use a dog door for a german shepherd? does the dog door have to be big because were thinking of using a dog door

  • I absolutly ADORE my pure breed german shepard (: shes so beautiful! but her artheritis is just saddening /:

  • beautiful creature.

  • i love german sherred

  • awwwwwwww~~ sooooo cute!! we have a dog, but hes k9 (police dog) haha

  • Nice looking dog

  • i love german shepherd :)

  • dumb video

  • GSD's are the best! Mine is named Trouble, and she is very vocal as well. I always say she is the most vocal dog I have ever met! And the only one in the world that I live more than that dog is my daughter! Lol

  • this vid doesnt make sence butt the dog is adorable!!!!!! so i liked it

  • My friends GSD is named roxy :D

  • i had to push the sub button on top of the video! couldnt....resist the video!!!!!!

  • Beautiful dog, but not talking, it's actually whats called vocalization. There is very few dogs that can actually vocalize and mimic understandable words.

  • LoL..She reminds me of my GSD Sasha RIP 2002. She would whine & cry the same way. It was like she was saying to the stupid dog owner (me), come on Lady, we've done this a billion times & I did those stupid tricks so, take me out, I got to go! I've not gotten a dog any type of dog since Sasha. No dog whatever the breed would ever measure up to her. But if I ever do, u bet it will be a GSD Mutt!

  • This is stupid

  • u should send this 2...klaatu42's Talking Animals channel..go 2 his channel!! ull c!

  • My dog always bites my (playing) and goes : OWwww. OOOwww. Owowow!

  • 1:00 , it sounds like hes saying " I wanna go downstaaaaaaaaaairssss "

  • Roxy is a sweethear, and so beautifult!!! GSDs are incredibly smart. They can get very vocal... to the point of arguing with you. LOL. I love my GSD, she is the best. To be fair, GSDs need more attention than some dogs. My other dog, a golden mix, is by far the most laid back perfect dog. He is so low maintenance; almost like not having a dog at all! The dogs get along famously too. They are total opposites, and I wouldn't have it any other way : )

  • i have a Q about GSD... (i might get one) do they do ok with cats? (as long as the cat doesn't mind them? PLZ ANSWER!

  • @arcticwolfdragon YES! i have one kitten who grew up with her and one who was introduced to her around the age of 4. they all get along well :)

  • @arcticwolfdragon

I've got a 15 months old gsd and when he was 5 months, i got my 1st kitten (a birman) and within a week or so, they were perfectly fine with each other and after that, many street cats were coming in my house to eat some food and he was completely fine with them and even the cats got used to him. They were allowing him to lick them, sniff them. They sleep together and sometimes, the cats go to his ball while he's eating to eat with him and he doesn't mind at all.

  • @arcticwolfdragon

Also just so you know, my dog is very dominant and has a very high prey drive outside. Yet when its about my cats, he gets very protective towards them and really loves them. He cleans them and does many cute things with them so what i can say is as long as you set limits when he's a puppy of what he can and cant do, u should be fine.

  • Comment removed

  • i might get a german shepherd and i am going 2 name it Roxy!!!!!

  • awe... what an awesome dog she is. She reminds me of my Shepherd. He died at 13. She sounds just like him. Except when I asked him if he wanted to go out he always got excited & happy even if he didn't have to do his business. Then when I'd take him outside he would just stand there and look around as if to say; "um, OK now why did I want to go outside again?" LOL. He was the best dog I ever had..... my big baby...

  • SO CUTE!! :3 ^___^

  • beautiful dog!

  • Ah yes, the infamous Shepherd speak. My 15 month old male whines and grunts and squeals just like your Roxy. It's quite funny actually.

  • I love gsds, I really really do. But they do have quite a shedding problem. When I move off base, I need to find an apartment or something where I can have a gsd. but like I said, they do shed quite a big.

  • hey i have a german shepherd too! however she doesnt really exist but she exists in my mind. her name is quagmire and she is untrained. sometimes i am scared because she snarls at little kids but she doesnt know enough right?

  • cant anybody else tell does dont get cameras and being video taped.
