  • Take that POS Stromberg off and put dual SU's on....much better setup

  • hand er voor huoden voor het gat

  • Did you get some spanners out and fix it or just run it till it died?

  • @macspud28 the car was sold as a parts car

  • firing order wrong

  • Sticky valves no doubt, run it with some detergent oil will loosten them up.The problem is it will loosten up everything holding the motor together.

  • Hey do you know if on these old euro cars if the chassis parts such as the ball joints, wheel bearings, etc are sealed or can you inject them with grease? Cause I know on old American cars you can but im not sure about these old euro cars.

  • @mrdestoryit That is a very good question! on these old Volvos you don't have any grease fittings, but many old european cars had grease fittings. It's more common on american cars, and they continued with it longer, mostly on light trucks in the 90s-2000.

  • 67 kick ass

  • Surprise it even tried to crank

  • plenty of room for a swap

  • the backfiring is probably caused by a sticky valve, when it runs for a little while it will start to move easier and it should be fine

  • wtf the waterpump is stuck? oh, the belt is missing :>

  • wtf the waterpump is stuck?

  • I have the same MSW rims on my Volkswagen

  • at 0:26 it spat in youur face like IM TRYING TO SLEEP STOP TRYING TO START ME

  • hi mate nici video very cool car

  • i'm going to buy an Amazon like that, 1965, B18 engine, which has lied in a barn for at least 20 years

  • @joorua95 Very COOL! If you can, please make a video of the first look at the car or first start and put it on youtube, it would be very fun to watch!

  • @kiarra00 i'm glad to hear that, and i will put a video to YouTube.

  • I want to run, I want to run, Crap.. I can't seem to stop sneezing... Hold on.. Gimmie a few... LOL!!!

  • Cross firing across the distributor cap.

  • actually It's not a backfire. That's called a frontfire. No joke.

  • @corvettels9 That makes a lot of sense! Backfiring comes out the tailpipe.

  • dwell angle too small, or timing to early

  • The old girl has a bad case of the sneezes. It's probably the timing. It wouldn't be intermittently backfiring if it was a wrong fire order as suggested below. I love the sound of a B18/B20 starting.

  • ich würde ihn doch erst mal im standgas laufen lassen

  • @002121541 würde ich auch aber dazu muss er ja erst mal laufen

  • you give too gas !!!!! let the motor turn

  • The firing order is off. Its firing on intake on one of the cylinders. coroson would have nothing to do with that.

  • This thing has the most unique cranking sound i've ever heard. Especially right at the beginning. And also, the backfire at 1:45 looks like it startled you lol, the camera kinda wobbled when it happened hehehe

  • This thing has the most unique cranking sound i've ever heard. Especially right at the beginning. And also, the backfire at 1:45 looks like it startled you lol, the camera kinda wobbled when it happened hehehe!

  • Sounds like its coughing :D

  • good old SU

  • listing to that . thats music to my ears old trusty dependeble volvo engines it just need some TLC

  • the engine slot has cobwebs

  • I didn't know Volvo's used SU carburetors!

  • Isn't that a Stromberg carb?

  • @Volvoamazon62 Oh okay sorry, looks kinda like an SU but I dunno lol.

  • Had a 69 131, the diaphragms go in those stromberg carbs. Easy fix with a rebuild kit, and a good clean. I'd recommend new plugs as well, at the very least.

  • should have give it some choke

  • I'd say retard the timing a little bit, and give it a good shot of MMO in the oil and perhaps clean the carb and it should be golden!

  • thats a really cool looking car for a Volvo

  • use choke than starts easyer! and the ignition is not timed! i have an 65 amazon with b20a engine!

  • Definitely looks and sounds like a carb or fuel/mixture to me as well....sounds like its possibly not getting the right mixture, etc. Either that or it could have a possible partial blockage somewhere in the fuel system??

  • And I thought my engine mounts were bad!. The backfiring could also be from some intake valves not seating right, possibly stuck/bad lifters from sitting a while.

  • lol it backfires through the carb!

  • The fan isn't moving... isn't that connected to the crank?

  • @Corollaboi

Yes it is but the fan belt is missing

  • Comment removed

  • the belt is of

  • its coughing man give it some aspirine

  • Spray some throttle body cleaner in the carb. That always helps...

  • sure does fart a lot...

  • volvo engines are pretty easy to work on, you should get that one working pretty good if you just start it a few times and let it run till it's reached the optimal temperature, meaning when it's done heating up.

  • put you face where the back fire is

  • Cool car. Should have had a air filter on it. Everytime it backfires it lifts the piston in the carb and gives full throttle. Thats whats killing it. But also a general tune up.

  • @Zachry86 Actually, I believe that piston in the carburetor adjusts the venturi to keep the mixture constant. There is a butterfly throttle valve if I'm not mistaken.

  • @n33d4killz The main piston in the adjusts the fuel flow. The butterfly valve controls the main airflow? The mixture is controlled by another little jet? Im not sure about this though. Mostly working on EFI cars and simple motorbike carbs now.

  • I belive the carb works the way you explain

  • Seafoam!

  • thats a good start for sitting for 15 years

  • Volvos are so tough, to get that thing running good, a new set of plugs and wires, oilchange, clean the carb, timing, and clean the fuel system out.

  • cool project!

  • Why don't you think about an electric motor??? The internet is full with plan's and description's. I planning this too, but i don't have so much money to do it, so I will not much help in this right now. SRY for the English.

  • Sounds like it could stand to have the points filed & regapped. *ignition system is wead due to bad point corrosion or gap or both. Good sounding starter motor ! Nice car! Good luck getting it on the road!

  • maybe once it warmed up a bit try spraying some carb cleaner down it might help a bit?

  • sure u dont have a crossed wire or ur timing isnt off,my gmc did that cause i had a crossed wire.

  • Lol I had an 1986 volvo that I just sold. I love those lil engines. Mine had the red block with 350,000 miles on it and it just had a little blow by but still ran very strong. LOVE IT!

  • i would say rebuild the carb put new spar plugs and check the timing on it lol but im sure its the carb, its probally really dirty from sitting that long

  • nice rims, and i like the color too :D

  • For sitting that long and still turning over and running, you cant beat it!

  • Your timing is probably off, or you've got a bad plug.

When my plugs were old, I was getting backfiring.

Also, I think you might want to put a new coil in it, because at the end, it didnt look like it wanted to start again.

    Good luck with it!

  • cool my new free mower back fired a bit lol

  • the backfire would scare me too!

  • what a farter! lolbetter check the distributor it must be off a tooth or something and the dwell on the points and all

  • clean that fuckin carb

  • I know! Damn...

  • Looks like the timing is off.....

  • I would have to say the backfiring is the timing is off

  • maby stuck valve or bad timing

  • wow definitely needs some work!

  • Ah..Amazon. My dad had two of 'em.

    Great car!

  • very cool, backfires alot lol

would love to see that on the road again :)
