  • my ti 86 boots in 3 seconds

  • Wy do you have a 5 1/2 year old comp....upgrade dude

  • Damn fast!!! Crazy man!

  • windows resume? my laptop does that

  • My laptop was identical to this.

  • LMAO don't misjudge that because it loads in 8 seconds mean it's better, remember this is beta, so 99% of the processes are not loaded yet, once u try out the full version it will take at least 30 seconds... Sources: From testing Win 7 Beta( load fast), now i have win 7 and it takes ~1 minutes to load.

  • @quangluu96 Did someone steal your lunch money every day? It's a new OS with some new developments. You really need to give it a chance to mature before you call it a Lisa.

  • I have win 8 DP on DEll Inspiron 1300 1,5GHz intel celeron m and 512 MB of RAM and it boots faster then xp...only thing I dont like is that you cant have look of win 95

  • WoW =D

  • 9 seconds

  • you just speeded at up, put a clock next to it, and lets see how fast the hands move

  • I used a Z-tec program application to bypass typical Windows XP/7/8 stack situational anomalies and reduced boot time to about 3 seconds.

  • 9 seconds

  • @arrdvarks You're just a pissed off Apple/Android fanboy who got traumatized by the speed of Windows 8 :-)

  • Microsoft has lost their mind. So I turn off the interface and I have Win 7. Why in the hell would a business buy a computer they already have. I have built an infrastructure around Google / Gmail services. NO COST. NO YEARLY UPGRADE. NO KEYS. REMEMBER ACCUSING US USERS FOR YEARS OF PIRACY. I have never had such a problem with google. Help your self. Fire Ballmer. Facebook, Google Android, Apple all had brilliant creative minds at the helm. Ballmer is a hack gopher for the retired Gates.

  • must be overclocked

  • @Metro4151 Overclocking has no effect on the speed of Windows loading...

  • Boots faster than my 3 year old Acer Aspire 7736g.

  • haha my computer is older than what i though. my computer specs are way lower than that... sad day

  • that is actually a pretty good pc

  • Actually, that's only the developer preview you didn't see the full one yet.

  • @Mantua64 I've got at least 3 internet security and antivirus programs.

  • Dude I have this laptop in my channel and it sports a SSD with readspeed of 200 mb/s and I got 12 second boot with Win 7, so you're telling me that you booted Win 8 in 8 seconds with an ordinary HDD.

    One word: Fake,.

  • @Mantua64 SSD is 6 GB rs, so

FAKE lol, see, don't yell fake if you're not sure.

  • HAHA. THE FUNNY THING IS THE D630 IS NOT OLD AND IM WATCHING THIS VIDEO ON IT.

  • @TheiPodBooklet The D630 is old in Computer and Technical terms. But still is a worthy laptop.

  • @TheiPodBooklet Too bad it's not your birthday too.

  • @TheiPodBooklet Dell D630 is quite old IMO since I had it back in 2007 making mine close to 5 years as well. Which is believe it or not a very old PC.

  • I have a 6 year old laptop running Windows XP home edition SP2 and it boots faster. It is only:

    856MB RAM

    55GB HDD

    Intel Inside Pentium 4 @ 1.3GHz

    wow...

  • @MrMinecrafterEXTreme Yeah and you've got yourself a totally exposed machine, with no protection against any kind of malicious software..

    Congratulations.

  • where do you get a release candidate for windows 8 like you could for 7 before it came out!!???

  • @WizzleThump

    Microsoft's website.

  • I don't see why Windows 8 is getting all of this negative attention. Whether people like it or not this is the way computing is going. Theres always been new things in each iteration of computing that someone somewhere hasn't liked but come on, at least give it a chance. If you hated Windows that much you'd find something else to use.

  • @TheBootington Unfortunatly thats not how computing works. Microsoft have a huge monopoly on PC OS's which leaves everyone to the whims of their decisions like it or not. I cannot buy a Mac they are too expensive and cannot run all the programs I need, Linux also cannot run all the programs I need. So im forced to use Windows no matter what kind of crap they force us to use.

  • @IksfNordrassil I guess will have to petition for Valve OS..

  • remember, this isn't a full fledged os yet, even though it's pretty close, so the boot times won't be so fast on the final release

  • @jumperIndustries Actually, it probably will be pretty much the same (and maybe even futher optimized for faster boots). The reason is Windows 8 by default loads to the Metro UI which uses less resources than the desktop, so even in the released version it will be faster. It also makes switching between the classic and Metro UIs pretty fast, especially if you're using an SSD

  • i hear u breathing

  • @Xtr3m3GFX oh i got the years mixed up but it still cant be 5 1/2 my computer is newer than that and it is older than 5 1/2

  • @collindiekvoss Of course its 5 and half years old. That computer is the Dell Latitude B630 series which were made back then.

  • that cant be a 5 1/2 year old computer windows 7 was made almost 5 years ago vista before that and that came with xp

  • @collindiekvoss You can install new OSs on old computers.

  • @SpeedyDrawMcGraw do you think i dont know that

  • @collindiekvoss There are some people that stupid.

  • a T7300 isn't really that different than a modern computers processor. for starters It's dual core so that's actually like 4ghz and the only real difference is the chip size and the amount of power it uses. 2.ghz isn't anything special. Now you go install your windows8 on a 400mhz computer with 64megs of ram and we'll talk. =D

  • How many times do I have to say this? Win 8 does not actually shut down. It just hibernates. Microsoft has even stated this.

  • HIBERNATION MODE!!!

  • @faxmanloveswaffles no thats not hibernation.

  • i saw windows 8 and wanted to puke...

  • does that count as boot?

  • Will Windows 8 run on my Victor 9000?

  • @barmybrummy1988 No. DUH!!!! You have a 640khz pc and you want to run an O.S. that needs 1.4 Ghz????????????

  • Yep it's 13 secs

  • thats faster than my motorola atrix...

  • I counted 13 seconds from the moment you pushed power button to a loaded win 8 desktop.

not sure how you got 8 seconds unless all you're counting is the time after bios and posting of the system is finished until win 8 desktop shows up. which is stupid.. You have to wait for your computer to post and whatever else anyways..you Must still factor that in.

  • its a developer preview, it's nowhere near the full build, nor does it require any real hardware to run, but still its nice to see.

  • wait.. what?!

  • Whats that robot on the right? I'm more interested in that thing

  • I can't imagine how fast this would boot on my 2500K+SSD system.

  • Thats still a pretty modern computer. I'd be impressed if it were something 10+ years old.

  • How about on an IBM Selectric? Or an abacus? @shaocaholica

  • @samnyc2 10 years ago would have been the trailing end of the Pentium 3 and beginning of Pentium 4 in the consumer space. The Core2 CPU in this video isn't even as old as the poster says. I mean come on, its a frigging Core2. You can still run high end production apps on a Core2 era CPU.

  • ubuntu beats all

  • boots on my Dell mini 10v (1012) in 3 seconds nah nah nah nah nah hahahaha

  • does this meen theres hope for my shity old laptop

  • that shit has been fast forwarded you idiots the camerashake suddenly gets more butal when its booting

  • @jord534 have you ever used windows 8?

this isn't sped up, it boots like a fucking beast.

  • Does it bother anyone else how long it takes him to press the power button? Why would you need to hold it that long?

  • @14pheti5h88 because some computers require it.

  • Should I be scared if it still takes over a minute on my year old PC?

  • boots on my lenovo in 4 seconds

  • My PC is shit and it boots fast. MS have done something awesome.

  • FTW this would be so fast on SSD :D 2 secs

  • WOW! I have a DELL Latitude D620! This is awesome! Definitely going to install Windows 8! Thanks very much.

  • windows xp on my 6 year old desktop with 986mb ram boot up in 10mins lol

  • I like the boot time, but the UI it seems too much a tablet interface. I have to try W8 yet, but I think I'll be with my W7 for a while, then I'll decide!

  • @alexlanza79 You can change the UI to W7 mode :)

  • This OS is freaking fast........ :)

  • Windows 8 is gonna suck :/

  • WTF! FAST BOOT!

  • that cant be right... it takes years for it to boot up on my scrap box :/ (pentium D 3 ghz 2 gigs of ram 80 gb hard drive)

  • Lol just wait till all the hefty updates and service packs come out, wont boot so fast then.

  • lol i haz 8GB of ram and an 8 core i7. let's see how fast this shit boots.

  • @GrimInstincts 4 cores*

  • @GrimInstincts you have a 4 cores which are hyper threaded showing 8 in windows but its really 4.

  • That's great, but I could care less about boot times. It's called "sleep" mode people. Saves energy and you can log back on within seconds. Why do people bother completely shutting down their system? Even on a laptop, there's only slight battery consumption when you put it to sleep.

  • @thphaca - Actually it's not sleep mode. Win8 uses a new boot process - after the initial POST it will literally boot in 5 seconds or less, and this isn't even the beta yet.

  • @jwd0808 I wasn't saying that the vid was showing sleep mode, but it might as well. Maybe I should clarify.. It's likely a variant of sleep/hibernation where the current state of the system is dumped to a file on the HDD. When you boot up next time, instead of loading up all the individual system files, it simply loads this dumped image to the RAM. It's like burning a DVD image vs. copying the individual files to it. The former is much faster.

  • @thphaca - Sure it might use a combination of technologies... whatever makes it happen... the point is that this is the fastest booting OS to date. Techies and geeks like to analyze it, but to the common user, it just boots really fast - regardless if it’s running on a tablet, or a desktop PC.

  • @jwd0808 I just find it to be an overrated feature when you can use sleep/hibernation on Win7. Sheesh, even Windows 98 had it if I recall correctly. For a mobile device, I can see the practicality of a fast cold boot (save battery life), but not for a desktop that's constantly plugged in. Power savings? Minimal. In sleep, only the RAM needs power. In hibernation, the whole system can be off.

  • Your pc have 2gb ram that isn't so bad..

  • @ilovefolgers i know. same with my CArd, but they will probz take support out ,,,, bastards

  • @ilovefolgers yeah, same with my VIA P4M800 with no driver right

  • And then you install/uninstall, work on it, install some more, and it becomes slower then windows 7.

  • of course it boots in 8 sec... 1 its basically a beta... to show what it will be like when was the last time you went to by a computer and they let you demo a shit computer that freezes? 2. its a preview... its not a full os... 3. you probably haven't done anything with it... its still a fresh os...4. i highly dought that you have a 5 1/2 year old computer with the original parts... seeing as 1 gb of ram certainly was standard 5 1/2 years ago

  • The D630s are awesome machines. My school still uses them for lending to students in the library. The only downside is they have no webcam.

  • Windows 8 has something called Kernal Hibernation, this is why it boots quickly. Im far amazed by how well 8 is doing.

  • How much is even on the computer, though? For all we know, the hdd could've just been formatted then windows 8 installed

  • Yeah because this PC is know same as the best tablet now!

  • @PhotoshopFunStudio the OS is like tablets! Hardware on the latest PCs are way more powerful!

  • What the.... Slate 8 PC has the intel i5 processor, but that is pentium 4!

Slate 8 PC takes 15 seconds and that old PC takes only 5 seconds!

What the hell is the problem to slate 8 PC! does i5 processor lose from pentium4?

  • @MetroAtrain123 The Intel Pentium Sires Was The Most Efficient Line Of Processors I Know Of Pentium Duel Cores That Can Beat Quad Cores In Windows Experience

  • people should keep in mind that this will slow down a tad as development nears completion. How much? Can't say.

  • it boots in only 5 seconds in my old pentium 4 2.8 ghz with 1 gb of ram (with a 5200 rpm sataII hard disk took from my died samsung nc10 for trying windows 8 without touch data on the original hard disk of this pc)... faster than windows xp xD

  • So this probably will be the first Windows OS that boots faster than any high-end Apple computer?

I'm no Apple fanboy, wish I could afford an iMac. So this is great news for me

  • @9Lucario9 *facepalm*

You do realize that with a decent hard-drive (or SSD) Windows 7 will boot faster than OS X will on the highest-end iMac?

  • @IAmSomeoneOrOther Yeah, I know. But SSD's are new and very expensive ATM...

  • @9Lucario9 Eh.

Not really if you're just going to get a SSD for your boot drive, and a 1TB< hard-drive for the storage drive.

  • I have a dell latitude d610 i wonder if it will work

  • NASA called thy want their Laptop back. Ahahahha

  • @ripstickriderocks the first rockets were launched by pcs with less than a gb of RAM

  • @JakeBackmanTutorials 200mb right?

  • Put this on a Core i7 with 8GB 0f ram and SSD and watch the boot time. :-)

  • @an65001 you mean try to watch* XD

  • @an65001 0.0000000000001 seconds xD

  • Im a Apple Fanboy and I own all Apple Products, and I tried Windows 8 on bootcamp on my 27" quad core iMac. Im impressed. Microsoft seriously did something awesome here.

  • @TheMacCommunity come to the dark side..it is easier..more seductive

  • @TheMacCommunity cool story bro

  • @TheMacCommunity it means alot to hear that i am just get a mac and dual boot windows 8 and os x lion

  • @TheMacCommunity Seriously? those old bootcamp drivers still WORK on newer windows?

  • daayyuuumm

  • and thats why its called windows8!

  • when the full version comes out microsoft will make sure to extend that time to 5 minutes

  • @McFhurer . . . . . . . . . . . . .

  • @McFhurer i lold off my chair

  • @McFhurer Laugh My Fuckin Ass Off, You deserved more than just an abbreviation :)

  • Wow.. oh myh fucking god. Imagine a SSD

    phew fuck

  • @NickLaz0r

You'd press the on button.... then... WTF BLARRRRGGGGGHHH

  • @NickLaz0r thats what im doin haha boot time is around 5 seconds :)

  • Holy....

My laptop cant RESUME windows that fast.

This is VERY dangerous for the current tablet market; one of the main reasons people buy them is the convenience of instant access. And its not like people are jumping to ditch their laptops to buy tablets in the first place...

  • my 8 year old pc boots windows 8 in 5 seconds and xp in 15 seconds

  • My laptop was WINDOWS ME on it then install windows 8 and just went :(

  • Accelerated video :D

  • i'm having trouble. My windows 8 loads for f*cking 55 SECONDS! HELP!

  • I just installed in a latitude d505 and it boots but the screen is grainy HELP!!!!

  • lol booted like a ssd :)

  • Duh, I just posted a similar video (much worse quality) with my own Dell D630 doing effectively the same thing. :) Pretty damned cool these old workhorse machines can get the job done, ain't it?
