  • Why are people talking about lamb of god and pantera on a meshuggah song? LOL meshuggah pwns both bands end of story

  • @tidusx665 Powns pantera?

AHahha this is a good fairy tale...

Btw Completly different genre...So no argue on this.

  • @Fuck1nMetal Pantera is a fairytale.

  • @FormerlyMrBean667

    dont be stupid faggot.

Listen to thomas itw and listen carefully what he said.

    Your'a prick.

    Meshuggah are something beyond amazing.

    But Pantera are GODS.

    End of the story.

  • meshuggah was my inspiration to grew my hair long..and doing psychodelic headbanging to a 7/8 beat

  • I don't get it.. when they were trying out to be in the band were they just straight up looking for fat hairy dudes that could play metal?

  • seriously expecting a cover here. im let down boys. really let down.

  • a part in this song reminds me of a strapping young lad song

  • Heaviest metal band,

  • hey stupid dumb fuck ,stoksie , what the fuck u r talking about lamb of pussy is better than PanterA????sjosjojajoajoajoajoOJAJOJOAJOAJOAJAJO GO AND FUCK YOURSELF

  • @tontocaredeadspace wtf lamb of god rocks and pantera rocks, all those stupid faggots with THIS BAND IS BETTER THAN THAT BAND!!

    stupid pussies

  • its all metal just different speeds lol bet most posers here cant even play guitar and lamb of god rules over all even pantera

  • @Stoksie01 i like LOG but they dont even reach pantera. your brain is too pussy to complain Shuggah' powah

  • @Stoksie01 goes to show just how pretencious some people can be. Son, Pantera was whoopin ass all over the states and then some LONG before those Pantera-wannabes even knew what the hell a guitar was. Don't ever make the mistake of saying L.o.G. is better than Pantera again.

  • it means a lot to me? im not the one nerd raging on my keyboard because someone said math metal. and for your information, i probably listen to more different types of music than you even know exist.

  • yes

  • ....now ladies......!

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS, SOUNDS FUCKIN TERRIBLE!!!! oops, i had a different window open playing Miley Cyrus

  • These guys took what Fear Factory were doing and, where Fear Factory failed, they succeeded.

  • this is more like technical groove metal if we want a genre categorization.

  • @entityfromthisrealm

    Metaphysical semi-hypnotic distractionbaseball apeshit metal.

I mean srsly, who gives a fuck.

  • @faselblaDer3te those who are curious about any other similar band. That's the only purpose of this genre labeling

  • THIS song is very, very FF! (love Meshuggah, just saw live some weeks ago here in Italy....woah)

  • This was djent before there was djent.

  • IMO its the thrash side of Meshuggah

  • where is the love button :-D

  • This is not "Djent" and its still mathy. Hell yeah!

  • This must be REALLY old! like 91???

  • I turned on the air conditioning on extreme cold because MY FACE IS MELTING!! :O

  • Could someone let me know if he has found any link that contains the lyrics to this song?

  • I was expecting a Gwen Stefani cover. j/k :P

  • Don't speak

    I know what you're saying

    I don't need your reasons

Don't tell me 'cause it hurts

Btw should Meshuggah be called avant-garde, since they spawned the djent "genre"?

  • ok love the band but as usual a shitty singer ruins another band for me

  • @ox0Jason0xo OK, remember to call Rebecca Black or Jonas Brothers so maybe they would sing in Meshuggah. How's that? Suits you better? Hahaha, just kiddin' man, keep rocking!

  • @PissingEverybody no thats even worse bands like this where its actually 100% the bands skill not the singer should be listened to for what it is you like and thats the instrumental if this or any meshuggah were instrumental it would be an awsome band but i guess wahtever pays the bills

  • @ox0Jason0xo Didn't understood a fuck out of what you said, dude. But, who cares... this is great music anyway huh?

  • best thing about meshuggah is that, in a good sick wierd way, fans of them look normal. you don´t have to shame about kiddyísh stylermetal boys. it´s a serious, funny, all lifetime band for raised people to enjoy quality made with instruments.

    art.

  • Is it just me or does anyone else think the picture of Jens Kidman on the Rare Trax album makes him look like a hamster?

  • @ThrashMetalMan1 that's not Jens. It's one of the band members relatives or something...but yea, kinda looks like Jens

  • @necromnous that's right madafaka :P

  • The description is like a movie title or something...

    Meshuggah!

    Band of Technical Death Metal!

  • meshuggah is not death metal !!!!!

  • they are not technical death metal :)

  • This is the most boring meshuggah song i've ever heard. NOT. hahaha. I really liked the song

  • quite boring imo

  • Meshuggah created their own style of music. Djent :D

  • these guys are fucking Gods.

  • Holy shit a Messhugah song that has a fairly normal time signature ...... For about half the song anyway

  • @KlonkaDonk

did that make you happy that it's somewhat an easier task to cover? :-p

  • @taxi911 Nah man i'm not a drummer, I just get talked to death about offbeats and all that shit by drummer friends.. This songs not to bad on guitar to be honest though

  • @KlonkaDonk

Yeah, no shit, eh? Everyone I know also says the same thing. I feel like breaking their fucking face.

  • @taxi911 Yeah and to prove a point break it to the polyrythm off bleed... That'll show those fuckers lol

  • Take an iron skillet, a drawer full of silverware and a see'n'say. Toss it all in a dryer and run it in 12 different cycles and BOOM!! there's your next Meshuggah album.

  • I used to hate Meshuggah, then they grew on me. Now they're one of my absolute favorites.

  • i do love me a nice piece of No Doubt!!!!

  • @BmGeoBm I was pissed to find out that it wasn't something to do with that song, haha.

  • "Meshuggah Band Of Technical Death Metal..."

    "Technical"?

What the hell is wrong with you?O.o

  • @lailolol he's right about the technical part, wrong about the death part

  • @macadoolahicky When a band is "Technical"...what does that mean then?:s

  • @lailolol technical metal is metal that uses complex riffs and rhythms, sometimes referred to as progressive metal

  • @lailolol

It means they have a degree from Metal Tech. Institute.

  • dubstep is gay. another mainstream fad. and now i cant go to clubs or raves without hearing that shit

  • @SuperScree yeah, great point there man;clubs are just pinky pussyweed places where brainwashed humans step into;the 70's rock'n roll clubs were the real deal

  • 1:02 til 1:34

  • @LashByLash69

No. 1:02 to 1:34. It's like dubstep with guitars.

  • MATH metal??? ....nooooo, that's not how they go about it....you tards are mistaking polyrhythms for math....watch the meshuggah interviews and you'll eventually hear "HAAKE" laugh at the idea thyat they're math metal.... it's "HEART" metal....pure and simple...they don't sit and actually do the math to make things fit together....they follow thier hearts...all you non-musicians wouldn't understand...i've learned about 95% of the material on the guitar, at high volume, of course....

  • This song makes a bastard out of me !!!!!!! fookin ownage :) i just got music fucked lol and i'm a geeza, at least it was by something impressive tho :P

  • was that even english

  • Ok to my metallic bretheren - I've been really checking these guys out and I'm gonna start with Chaosphere and Nothing Albums. Prob go to Catch 33 and the album with Statue of Liberty on it. Any other suggestions for albums after these?

  • @holygroove2

Future Breed Machine is very decent. The first one, I find it Meh. Nothing and Chaosphere are definitely my favorite albums by them. Oh, and their EP called "I"

  • @holygroove2 Obzen, I (EP), Destroy Erase Improve, have fun friend:)

  • @holygroove2 future breed machine and obzen and that'll do ya

  • you could refer to any rock as math rock since music works in a very similar manner to mathmatics, but as far as musical genres go, the term refers to post punk/rock bands originating i think with 'don caballero' others include the japanese band 'lite' and battles. who play mostly instrumentals and use odd time signatures. though bands such as meshuggah and tool do use awkward time signatures i would say they are just metal. metal doesn't need any other labels it speaks for itself.

  • i think meshuggah is just meshuggah. not sure if i like classifying these guys. yeah its heavy but there is some jazz progressions in the later stuff

  • Good. Music.

  • Like this song. I am a Mehsuggah fan from their thrash days of the 80's to their mind blowing, technical crunching riffs of now!

  • 1:04 мазало

  • ok what album is this on? anyone know?

  • @danielbowlin9

    u fuking prick...

the album cover is here!!! in the first secs of the video, u stupid mongoloid.

    it's a rarity, though.

  • this song has really good moments. I wish it was a slightly better recording

  • if you can not count the beats hat he is playing and right them down, then i suggest you learn how to count to 4 and then learn to split it into a million different rhythms before you try to play this.

This guy kicks ass for being able to play what he can. its not just about being fast and suddenly you are good. you have to learn how to count and learn a lot of theory on rhythm before attempting to write anything like what this guy did.

  • There are obviously very complex polyrhythms everywhere, but what they are very good at is bringing them into more of a "hook" related context - very few times in any of their songs do the beats not add up to 4/4, whilst they may be playing in completely different time signatures themselves. Meshuggah are a band that lead you into a false sense of security, and I love that.

  • @shotgunjoe Actually, alot of their songs are in 4/4, they just use different ryhtms. Rythms are NOT infact time signatures. :D

  • @shotgunjoe They do? >.>

  • @shotgunjoe Some call it "math metal." I just call it, "bad asses who know about music theory but don't give a fuck!"

  • @trouble1macker202 There's no music theory more complex than your average 12 bar blues going on here; what's being explored is rhythm and syncopation. It's the syncopations that jiggify the muzak.

  • @trouble1macker202 couldnt of said it better, trouble. these are the godfathers of djent. and i wouldnt give a fuck if it was called fagblaster genre, this is for the more versed of the mind.

  • I have always thought of them as a jazz metal band, because the polyrhythmic ideas they ise have existed in jazz for a long time.

  • They just work their music around a rythmic concept that isn't actually that hard to get, and expand it differently on every album.

  • Some of it isn't too hard to get.

And even that is complete greek to unenlightened ears.

I've played the riff of NMCC for people, that just unscrew their head. They can't make any sense of it, and yet, I stew to it's groove.

  • Don't call them Mathcore. Or math anything for that matter. It's closer to death metal than anything else so let's just call them that, or call them Meshuggah.

Also, if following a tempo or counting beats in your head is math to you, you probably think of Youtube comments as litterature.

If you read Meshuggah interviews you can often read jokes about how people think they actually use maths to write songs.

I don't really want to get into another math metal argument about Meshuggah but shit...

  • They aren't closer to death metal either, but I agree about the math thing. Might as well call them nerd metal.

  • Never heard this song. Fucking dope.

  • Tomas can make a thousand different timings off of one constant tempo. How cool is that shit.

  • There are very few bands that I find to have their own unique sound... One being Gojira (fuckin' love 'em!) and Meshuggah. I like it.

  • The greatest thing about Meshuggah is they're unique. Some people say that it's deathmetal but I say those people are ignorant. Another great thing about meshuggah is they're music is intricate and mathematically composed. If you like Meshuggah you have great tastes and like REAL music.

  • TRUE DAT

  • @sLObZenOnMyNObzen You have the best username ever.

  • @juggalosticker Sure, if you think that all music should be engineered.

  • @juggalosticker By "mathematically composed" do you mean that they can count to four? :P

    Also, ICP sucks.

  • @elysium735. No that's not quite what I mean. Maybe if you actually knew shit about music you'd understand. And yes I know ICPenis sucks. That's why I stick juggalos - dumbass.

  • @juggalosticker I've been playing guitar for five years and I fucking rock. Everything is math if you wanna get technical, and if you don't then you're just talking to hear yourself do so. Either you, you're retarded and this song sucks.

    Go fuck yourself.

  • @juggalosticker your kidding right… seriously all music is mathematically composed. every time signature is a fraction just because you change the time signature alot doesn't make it crazy . >___>

if you want real actual created time signatures and compllecated composition listen to anemia by tool. the song i mean.

  • @ButtasRandomized. Yeah I know that music = math, But it's not as obvious as in the music. Like the riffs all have a mathematical pattern that you can actually hear and it makes the music epic. And I love tool. Meshuggah makes most other heavy metal bands look stupid.

  • @ButtasRandomized Thank you for explaining it so beautifully. And Tool kicks ass, Danny Carey is god.

You want "math rock" (if there is such a thing)? Then listen to Tool. Masterful time changes. Now "Lateralus" is "math rock" if anything is.

  • @elysium735 no problem im a drummer myself and i read all these comments saying how masterfull a group or a drummer is and it bugs me because everyone believes them because to there ears it sounds so crazy. now im not saying i can play this stuff but i wouldnt go as far to say its crazy technical math lots of meshuggahs beats use very fast breif secound double bass rolls wich is unique. and yes i forgot about lataralus good that was prolly a better choice to say!

  • @ButtasRandomized Well the idea of math rock pisses me off when people talk about it like a genre. All music is math. Almost everything is math technically. Sure you can employ math in music, but when people talk about it like its a genre it seems like assholes trying impotently to make their metal seem more sophisticated or complex than it actually is.

  • @elysium735 its called mathcore because it requires thought to play its not slow paced or easily remembered. There's nothing to do with numbers in it, god you sound like an idiot lol.

  • @elysium735 math metal is a term to describe music that is numerically complicated. weird time signatures, weird patterns, complex rythms, things of that nature. so in a sense it is more sophisticated because someone without at least a basic knowledge of musical theory is less likely to appreciate it. meshuggah for example, uses mostly 4/4 time signature, but some people dont like it because the patterns they use make it too complicated for them to listen to

  • @aPOTg It's not more sophisticated, just less usual. By your shitty definition, everything from Pink Floyd to Radiohead is math metal. By your definition, I believe you're referring to prog.

But hey, you can listening to shitty guitar riffs and excuse them as "complex." "What do you mean this sounds awful?! I'm so-fist-ick-ate-ed!!!!!!"

  • @elysium735 that would be true if we were talking about genres outside of metal (math metal pretty much sums it up to METAL, not rock.) and yes. prog is math metal. prog is jazz. prog can be anything. but when people talk about metal, its math metal. and since when did the fact that you dub a guitar riff as shitty mean that the music is not more sophisticated or complex? did someone die and make you overlord of shitty music?

  • @aPOTg Yes, Chad Kroger himself came down from hell and placed the "shitty music arbiter" crown on my head.

If you feel like inventing another meaningless genre that sounds the same as metal, but calling it something else, you can go ahead. Seems like you're doing for no damn reason but fun really. When I feel like taking part in such a masturbatory activity, I just masturbate and get it outta the way.

Also, prog isn't jazz. Your ignorance proceeds you my nigga.

  • @elysium735 well first off i didnt invent shit. second off, "genre that sounds the same as metal"... well of course its gonna sound like metal because it IS fucking metal. and third, we do agree on one point. mathmetal is a made up term and in no way an official genre. i just explained what it is. and prog is a general term that spreads across all facest of music, and many other things. so prog is jazz when its proggy jazz.

  • @aPOTg Wow this pointlessly specific yet inarticulate naming of shit sure means a lot to you.

"Proggy jazz" rofl, you don't listen to shit but metal do you?

  • @juggalosticker I agree with you, but I recall Meshuggah saying that they dont use math to compose they're music. Approaching riffs the way they do just comes natural to them

  • @JaeSwift87 That makes them even better!

  • @juggalosticker Meshuggah is one of those bands that cant be labeled or defined because they made something unique and have inspired 100's of metal bands to date.. They are just Meshuggah. The quantum physics of metal.

  • @juggalosticker i love you for this statement

  • @juggalosticker bulshit, you are just fucking mad in your brain, if you like Meshuggah.

  • @juggalosticker Their music sure is intricate, but there's nothing mathematic about it as far as the members themselves have told us. There''s no calculating the music, they have ideas, write them down and record them just like any band. Their ideas just happen to be batshit crazy!

  • @Ragnarockalypse yeah I just discovered that today after being a fan for a really long time. One of the guitarists did a video with another drummer and it's just demented. Doesn't look like they planned it but just came up with it.

  • @juggalosticker I know this comment is old but meh, the thing is I don't think people understand what they listen to when they hear Meshuggah. The thing with Meshuggah is they're a band which takes a good listen, even for seasoned Metalheads. But once you listen to an album like DEI Nothing or Chaosphere a couple times you really get it. Plus it helps to be a bit drunk...you get it that much more! :D

  • @juggalosticker Their styles is widely referred to as Djent.

  • @juggalosticker thank you lol

  • @juggalosticker meshuggah is :Soul Disco Metal From God..yes i believe thats right

  • @juggalosticker mathematically?

  • @juggalosticker I am getting sick and tired of Meshuggah/metal-fanboys like YOU saying Meshuggah/Metal is the only "REAL" music. All music is real music. I love metal myself to death, but I can allso be mature enough and understand why other people don't like metal; The same reason I don't like Hip-hop and R'n'B.

It's good we have many different music genres, or else this band would never have happened.

Metal comes originally from Rock who comes from blues who comes from....yada yada

  • how about rape metal, this piece of art just fucks your ears so hard that you get an eargasm every fuckin second!

  • agreed.

  • @SLACHTBEEST147 fuck uuuuuuuuuuuuu!

  • @SLACHTBEEST147 fuckk offffffff...

  • @SLACHTBEEST147

RAPE METAL! EARGASM! jajajajaja te pasaste de verga. Respect

  • pssh, you have the same taste in music AS a cunt leedobney.

  • @Destapadore42009 you are a fucking retard... go find a job you non educated deliquent!

  • @leedobney LOL

  • Most impressing guitar solo ever ... At least to me!

  • Bass5el is right..

Meshuggah unique music style, i dont know any band which sounds like meshuggah :D

  • animals as leaders, meshuggah still came first though...

  • Storm Metal

  • Fuck your music genres. I listen to sounds.

  • amen.

  • Hell yeah man! Pisses me the fuck off when people go into all this "core" and that kinda bullshit, when they should just listen to the music.

  • I'd still call it "Meshuggah".

No one else sounds quite like this band.

  • It's as heavy as Death Metal, but I don't think it really classifies as that (don't want to be a genrebitch either)

More like Extreme, Progressive Metal? Help me out :P

  • Technical Post-Thrash

  • the picture from 3:03 onwards tomas haake apears to have blured his face with and up-down motion without moving his hair

  • The execution of Jens facial expression at 2:38 is so perfectly performed. He must practice in his bathroom for hours.

  • Yeah if he didn't have the beard, he would look like Dr. Manhattan

  • LOL 2:15 looks like he is reaching to cup a ball sack. your balls would probably become 24K gold coated after such an event.

  • hahaha tomas at 0:49

  • the part at 1:13 sounds like the theme of "laments of an icarus" by textures... i know its not the same but nearly...

  • You meant Laments of Icarus sounds like this. Dont Speak song is way older.
