Are they here in "out of the box" condition? 2209 seems to have a bit more vivid colours. Which one you would say has more natural colours tho? I wish you had the viewsonic vp2365wb aswell for compare, as its tad cheaper, but uses the same screen as dell u2311h and nec ea231wmi, the lg screen. u2311h have been rated slightly better than viewsonic tho. Cheers!
i'm considering both of those and i really can't decide which one. and i'm also on the look for a S-PVA monitor, or should i wait for PLS monitors from Samsung? any suggestions? from your video looks that 2209wa is way better in almost any situations...
i'm considering both of those and i really can't decide which one. and i'm also on the look for a S-PVA monitor, or should i wait for PLS monitors from Samsung? any suggestions?
@63Jax I can't help you much with this question. What I knew (when I bought them - 8 months ago) was that the e-IPS were cheaper then the S-PVA, about half the price.
Generally, the S-PVA were told to be better, cost more and there were more brands and sizes.
I know nothing about the PLS monitors. Anyway, good luck.
I have no idea... But, almost all components in my PC are energy efficient. Also, I'm a Greenpeace volunteer, I'm eating tasty vegetables and sleeping in the haystack.
@singernaloa Make the room as dark as you can, and then show a completely black screen on both monitors (while on! ;) ), that should make it easy to detect it.
The 2209W seems to be the better monitor, hence why it's probably a priced a little higher. I also prefer the 16:10 aspect ratio. The U2311 would have to have a lower quality IPS panel, but front on, the different in image quality would probably be irrelevant. I've just got a 2209W at work, and I'm impressed. The viewing angle is better than my U2410 at home. It looks great. You definitely can't go wrong with a 2209W.
I can't believe you did a monitor review, yet somehow failed to format the video properly, such that it isn't stretched. If you don't believe me, compare the monitors' width when they are oriented vertically with the same width when they are pivoted horizontally.
@precariousgray You are right. the movie is stretched, it was formated automatically for youtube by Windows Movie Maker, I didn't bother to get into it.
The movie was made to answer a request I've got by a forum member.
I did it also for my joy, not to satisfy anyone or get any profit from it.
Anyway - thanks for pointing it out. Hope you got SOMETHING from it.
@singernaloa Ahh alright, maybe I'm confused. I was under the impression that U2311H went through a revision from the first model. I'm probably mistaken, I've been doing so much review-reading that my head is going funny... =D Thank you for the vid btw!
@singernaloa I find some postings on a german site (prad.de) where some users reporting noise on lower brightness but some others hear nothing and there are also reports from other models (hp, fujitsu...) with noise troubles, so i am not sure if there are differences in quality or it is more a individual problem.
@silentzero7 Well, this specific two monitors makes no noise. No matter which brightness I choose. If there will be such a problem, I'm sure the Dell worldwide warranty would cover it....
Have you tested gaming on these monitors? I want to know which is better. I know the 2209WA has a slightly faster refresh rate, so I wanted to know if there's any ghosting on the U2311H. I heard there's some turbo mode for gaming though. Can you see any ghosting on either display?
The U2311H gives you wider working space(higher resolution-HD), sharper display(smaller pixel size) but condensed to a bit smaller display area.
If you sit far, like bigger fonts, and don't mind High Def as a native res -> 2209WA
Maby more convinient for text, brawsing, word processing...
But if you're willing to pay a bit more, watch HD media (Movies, games etc.), or work with graphics I would choose the U2311H. Sit a bit closer and see clearer.Colors are the same.

@63Jax Well, see the the answer for the first part below.
For the last part - both are great, The 2209 has bigger fonts in the native res, but the 2311 has higher res-more info on the display.
Check my answers to Janet8425 and growingup2204 below.

so which is better for films and games?
janet8425 1 year ago
@janet8425 From my feeling the U2311H got few advantages over the 2209WA for video display,
like more viewing area(more pixels) and better ratio hight \ width->for HD wide films.
For text \ browsing I prefer the 2209WA.
Both gives great value and great picture.

@singernaloa Do u agree with me that the 2209 looks better ?
growingup2204 1 year ago
@growingup2204 Well, probably It's obvious that I prefer it, as you can guess from the movie.
Currently I use it (2209WA) as my main display and the U2311H as secondary.
U2311H function better for watching and editing movies, graphics, and probably gaming.
Text (mostly internet) on 2209WA is bigger, hence more pleasant for the eye.

Viewing angles on the 2209 are far better. WHY WASN'T IT 1920X1080?!! ARRGH.
Benjomatic 1 year ago
@Benjomatic The difference is not so big as it seems.
Since most people doesn't watch their monitors in extreme angles, from my perspective, you shouldn't worry about it.
Both have a superior viewing angles to the TN displays.

i considering to buy u2211h which is the smaller version of the u2311h
since you have the 2209WA i wanted to ask you if you feel any ghosting
in games & movies since the u2311h/u2211h have a 8ms refresh rate while
the 2209WA have 6ms refresh rate
nyny99ful 1 year ago
@nyny99ful
In movies - I can't tell the difference.
I'm not using them for games so I can't tell...
But if You like to hear my advise, invest a bit more and take the U2311H.
It's like buying a HDTV of 25" - you need to sit as close as 1 feet away to see the HD benefits.
The extra inch in size worth the money.
My next monitor will be probably the Dell UltraSharp U2711 27”....
