Good God the hopeless middle class inspirationalists have finally landed..Thank you Mr. Martin. we are so impressed and blessed with your need to share your idiot impersonations.....Yes might have a role for you.....You never know ..It all comes round again. I am so disappointed in Brian Eno right now. Never thought he'd sell his talent so cheaply.
I like all versions of this magical piece by "Erik Satie"...this version is brief & distorted..so its hard to judge it.
I got to give Coldplay 5* for even trying to play this piece, which is a technical nightmare. For those who judge this as an "abomination"..realise it will lead many to hear the original. STFU snobs.!
I am a huge fan of coldplay and also of classical music, and I have just started listening to satie's Gnossiennes, which i LOVE, Now i've found this video and I can believe thissss! It's so great that he actually has played this beautiful piece on one of the shows !!
L'ha uccisa praticamente .. con tutto il rispetto per i cold play , che mi piacciono non poco .. cioè quelli di ora mi fanno a dir poco cagare... ma i primi tre album sono pazzeschi !!!
Cold Play impressed me the first time I saw and discovered who they were as I record the Grammy's every year. Of course we shold all realize that great musicians have borrowed greratly from the classics. Have you listened to The Beatles [Paul McCartney's] Elenor Rigby lately? Then listen to Mozart's K516-1 Mozart String quintet in G minor movt 1. Although a little different tempo, you get the idea. See Elonor Rigby in Wiki. Read it all. Then read Greek Dorian Mode in Wiki. What a lesson!
You know, Satie didn't put "You must be atleast THIS good to play my pieces" in any of his manuscripts, stop being so stuck up. You give a bad name to classical music fans, the snooty ones that boil inside when something mainstream uses classical music. Who cares if it's not a polished performance? A rockstar just played a little bit of Satie to a packed audience, introducing the music to them. Also, "covers"? Haha, do you get upset when the Berlin phil. "covers" Mozart?
you know, satie didn't even consider himself that skilled at music anyway, which is why he called himself a gymnopedist and not a musician
on the contrary, classical music emulated by other groups and genres is perfectly acceptable to pretty much anyone, but i mean, if it sucks, it sucks; it doesn't matter who is playing it if it sucks
i love coldplay even more when i see that they are also open to this kind of music. i love both satie and coldplay

As we can see in this video, it´s easy to play the notes of this piece. Destroying its magic is even easier .

rofl, coldplay isn't good enough to properly emulate the emotion in satie's pieces
stupid "covers"; why not make your own minimalist piece, you silly band?

and it just so happens that coldplay sucks, so

@JohnEBPiano It's a bit like Jimmy Page lapsing into J.S. Bach during his solo at "How the West was Won".

I applaud the effort. The sound quality in the stadium probably doesn't give him justice. But you can feel he loves it too.
