Wouldn't it be easier to soak the shirt beforehand so that it's already wet and to use the squirt bottles instead of dipping. You'd get more dye on the shirt.

it's a dye, they're really easy to find in craft stores. I recommend fiber reactive die, not RIT because RIT really doesn't work well. You can also find fiber reactive dye in tie-dye kits :)
