@syannmom08 nothing. It's teaching you how to used the swype keyboard.

That's what a Tutorial is.

2. You could be running it from the app keyboard. to fix this:

i. Go to Settings.

ii. Scroll until you see something with keyboards in it.

iii. Unselect the Default android keyboard and select swype

iv. Exit settings and enjoy swype! :)

How did you get it on the droid eris? I downloaded the one on the website but it isn't for the Eris. Does anyone know where I can get the one for the Droid Eris?

Shape Writer is just like it, and (if memory serves me) was available on iPhone before Android was released.

The company was bought and the new owners pulled it off the App store, but I still have it and without it being a system wide keyboard, it's only great. This could be a real distinguishing factor if it becomes an Android exclusive.

Swype rules! just installed the beta on my HTC 4G and it owns! one thing though is that you can only use one finger for it to work like intended.

@chrisreynolds789 I'm assuming it's going to be the same way that you do it on the motorola droid, if not i apologize in advance.

if you have already installed swype, then go to wherever you're inputting text, press and hold down until a box comes up saying input method. you should be able to choose from there.

@chrisreynolds789 you hold your finger inside a text box until you get "Change Text Input" there it will let you select keyboard, you have to do this to activate it as well so youd learn it before youd turn it on :)

Shape Writer Keybaord has been around for some time now and it works perfectly fine on my Droid Eris. It does exactly the same thing.

this kind of tech highlights the discomfort of the qwerty keyboards... look at the unnecessary thumb movements...

hopefully, there will be a dvorak version of these keyboards in the future. how long will we use qwerty just because we're used to it?

@VelocityTheory I agree, it is so stupid that we use qwerty, we only use it because some asshole wanted to slow down our typing speed. Dvorak is proven to be the fastest way to type in the world.

Do your research. QWERTY was invented because type writers have arms and if a person typed to fast the arms would get stuck together and jam the typewriter so we switched from DVORAK to QWERTY and from there on it became widely used and a standard. Now this may not pertain to computers these days however it is why we use QWERTY instead of DVORAK.

Look it up on the Redmondpie website. They have the file linked there, but they don't say if you need a rooted phone to use it. It's not in the market. I'll check out that shapewriter that dave mentioned first I think.

tried installing it.. don't need a rooted phone, but apparently, it only works on droid and/or nexus one.. but somehow a guy got it running on a droid eris.. wont work on my cliq.. oh well..it should come out in the android market sometime soon..
