I'm sure you'll be alright if you go, just as long as you know what's going on. I went to my first concert in May this year and it was awesome. If the crowd you're in is even half of the one I was in, then they'll help you up if you do happen to fall into the mosh pit. Also, the only real damage I ever got was throwing out my voice from screaming so much. Good luck convincing your parents, and always stay sic.
