  • i like your older reviews like this one better :-)

  • I was just on the phone with some guy at an RC shop. He told me it's the chinese that blew new life into the whole RC heli-market. low cost-production with the latest battery, RX and servo techology at prices we can afford.

I'm starting this hobby again after 20 years, these videos are inspiring

  • miserve il manuale di istruzzioni

  • Nice work mate , seems you've stuck with the hobby for around 20 years at least from what i can tell, and made huge advancements in rc heli's. I gave it away years ago and onlt just got back into it , gee what a difference these days ! , so much fun , nice vids , cheers

  • ive allways liked the look of the honey bee but i kept saving and i saw the blade sr so thats what i got and i think that was a better idea BUT the aluminimum tail boom is a hassell cuz every time i crash i screw it up and need a new one :"(

  • Great song!

  • Nice vid once again, what's the range on the controller please?

  • Could you post a video on how to fly this little bird?

  • Thanks for the vid. Could you made a vid. on how to use the transmitter? I want to know what it can do. thanks,

  • what is the Cessna in the back? looks good

  • @helipilot94 I think That's a flyzone cessna

  • I like your reviews!

  • Awesome soundtrack choice!!!

  • can i get this as a second heli after the blade cx2?

  • @ rcwilli1991

O ok. i was told something like a raptor or kinetic 50 size heli would be best to learn on. well a 50 size heli. but they are just so darn expensive. but i can do mild 3d on the sim and fly around and hover. so yea. do you mean the cp pro or the cp 2? thanks for the help.

  • what would be a good heli to fly after mastering the blade mcx, and flying helis on the simulator?

  • i think that would be nice. a great micro that you can definitely fly after the mcx is the blade msr

  • @SpartanDara117 Yes the mSR is a good choice! I have one, it flies great! After the mSR, you could think about getting a Blade 400 3D

  • @wtrcf123

the E-sky Honey Bee 4 is a great Choice after mastering the mcx ( i have it) but if you feel very confident on the simulator you can pick the Blade CP or stuff like that.

  • The MSR would be a good stepping stone

  • me gustaria que este traducido al español,el video es muy bueno gracias.

  • this is the honey bee cp2..

  • would this be a good next step up from a honey bee fp

  • i always liked RC helicopters but most of the helicopters are very expensive. does anyone know where i can get a good cheap helicopter for beginers

  • I would suggest the Alany Micro Mosquito. It's about $35 if you search "micro mosquito helicopter" on google shopping. I have one and it's pretty good but only really works inside. It takes about 25-30 minutes to charge the battery for an 8-10 minute flight.

  • I've got it (the real one, not a copy) and i must say it flies horrible.

I have had my fair share of mini heli's, and I know it's not me.

So far the best miniheli i've tried was the Silverlit PicooZ Deluxe, indoor flight only, charging time = 10min for 5min flight, 3channel like the mosquito.

Both these helicopters aren't comparable to the one in this vid though

  • ebay.

  • I think for beginners the lama V3 or V4 is perfect it isnt very xpensive and its very easy to fly

  • Sounds like it had to work a little harder to lift that camera. I am new to RC Helicopters and I like this one. Do they make a flight simulator for this craft that I can run on my computer to learn to fly it before I buy one?

  • night flyer i love your videos so i have a question for you because you obviously know wat your talking about. wat are a couple beginner helis around $175-200? i would like them to be customizable. thank you

    (electric helis)

  • i have a great one...even nightflyyer recomends it, but its $100 over what your looking for, the blade cx2...i have one myself but now im looking for one that i can fly inverted

  • Nice nice video from the athic.

Last sunday i crash my cessna so i need learn tu fly my heli, so im learning from you.

    saludos

  • would you reccomend this as a next step up from a honey bee fp or should i just go straight for a king 2/3 bye the way i live in the uk so cant get a blue ray

  • Is the blade cx3 a good beginner heli ?

  • Excellent trainer but i started with a cx2

  • cx2 and 3 virtually the same. I think the Gyro is new and some of the basic parts are improved, but mostly the same. New body too of course.

  • Would I be alright flying this after lots of practice on a simulator?

  • no, a simulator is just for the basics, it can give you a false sense of security, buy a honeybe FIXED PITCH! or a blade mcx

  • You have been a big help just wondering what kind of camera (or recommendations) were you using

    much appriciated

    TED

  • While Im very comfortable flying a 6 channel heli on my Clearview flight simulator which I purchased and love, thanks to you.

However, Im not comfortable yet with the real thing, except for the co-axial heli's (theyr're very easy.)

So what do you think of the Honey Bee 4-Channel RC Helicopter? I dont need to do loops. Not yet anyway.

  • now u can get them for 69.99 or 89.99 with lipo at xheli.. and a hbk 2 for 155 with lipo and 2.4 ghz

  • but with the 2 lipos thats a pretty good price!

  • no i got mine at xheli for $130

  • Hope everything is going good Dave, and If you ever need a place to store your rc stuff, I'm always available lol !

Keep up the good work, and

    RockOn \m/

  • that is the CP2-version. The non CP2 has black main rotor blades.

  • Is this the CP2? I've just ordered the Honey Bee, but' it has only got 4 channels and a 8,4 v NiMh battery (and no cyclic-pitch).

I'd like your 9 heli flying tips to help me learn the art of helicopter flying. Please

  • Would you recommend this as a first helicopter?

  • No buddy i wouldn't way too sensitive i would HIGHLY recommend the Blade Cx2 cheap and easy :D that will give you good experience time to then move into the Fp plus if you crash at all this chopper will cost you $20 every time the Cx2 if fairly durable that's your best bet

    Hope it helps

    TED

  • Cheers for the info.

  • Hey, i got the old version of the honey bee i think becaus i never got lipo and al that in it and it looks a bit diferent, woud you tel me wich batery the old version had and tel me where i can order it. Thanks

  • Try Hobby-Lobby(.)com. It had a 5 cell, 7.4 v NiMh.

  • do the electric tail helicopters have a gyro or is that just the shaft and belt driven helis?

  • They have a rate gyro, but remember, the motor and blade turns only one way for yawing to the right. The motor slows and stops using body torque to yaw to the left.

  • can you do flips and funnels with this heli

  • Yes, just mild ones.

  • can these fly upside-down

  • Not very well in the winds, but yes.

  • oh yeah i seen my entire flight deck crew do the ch-46 shuffle dance when it wound up .. ok thats just not normal for navy guys at sea for 6 months.. oh wait yes it is.. boredom comes in many forms.. i also played basketball alot on our ship and when the ball got away .. GUESS WHO HAD THE KEY TO THE SUPPLY ROOM FOR THE BASKETBALLS... moi.. yup ..

AKAN SOTTA REPORT TO THE FLIGHT DECK ... AKAN SOTTA REPORT TO THE FLIGHT DECK. .. IT SEEMS WE LOST A BASKET BALL ... LOL

  • Haha. I love my tour on the USS midway with the Navy Hosting us for 6 months with our RF4b Phantoms. I even made a video on it, as you know. Great times. So that was you. We had boxing smokers too.

  • yes helicopters vibrate.. oh lord i seen those suckers do more then that .. seen a ch-46 seaknight dropa pallet of pepsi in the med... heheheh.. ever see 150 guys on a flight deck pointing to a pallet of pepsi and me yelling.. YOUR STILL PAYING FOR IT USS SARATOGA. LOL

  • Haha. So true, so true.

  • Fantastic video! I've been thinking of getting on of these and it was nice to see it in action... Thanks!

  • Thanks for the kind words.

  • hey mister your sexy

  • LOL. Thanks.

  • Hey mister! Yur the best!!

  • Thanks kindly. It takes one to know one!

  • what do u think about the esky lama v3 ?? they seem pretty good what do u think?

  • They are good Helis. Ive not seen any bad ones. They fly good.

  • refering back to your old school photo with the 1st motor tail.

    Was that on cushion?

do you mess around with hovercrafts at all?

    Smitty

  • I never had luck with hovercrafts as they ate batteries pretty fast. See my video on Stealth helicopters to see how I made those Orange Pontoons. "Cushions"

  • is this a 4ch heli?

if so, how can it fly 3d?

  • This is a 6 channel heli, using 5 channels and since it is collective pitch, it can fly simple 3d. That is just a fancy acronym for stunts like loops, rolls, inverted.

  • what would be the best way to get a hold of a club or group nearby me that deals with rc helicopters or at least can teach me more on how to fly mine? i have a local hobby shop that isnt too far of a drive, i am assuming they might know something to help me or do you know something that is better? ty for all your other videos i truelly appreciate them =)

  • All the local hobby stores know where the closest clubs are. There are not many heli pilots so make sure you find someone who is not bs ing about being able to fly. Most clubs are AMA affiliated, and you can find them all on the Academy Of Model Aeronautics website. Good luck.

  • Hi Dave, thanks for all your reviews. I had earlier bought a mcx which i greatly enjoyed till i broke it. i recently bought a honey bee mk3. my progress on this heli will be largely thanks to your elaborate reviews and suggestions. Could you also please pm me the heli flying tips. greatly appreciated. thanks

  • Thanks too. Tips away.

  • Dave Id like your 9 heli flying tips, for more insight please send.....most of the progress I've made is to your credit!!!

  • Thanks kindly Tips are away in a PM.

  • Hi Dave, How about doing a comparison test amoung the Honeybee, E-flite Blade CP, Heli-max Axe CP or maybe some others.

  • Well they all fly close to the same. If I get any of those helis, I will do a separate review as I can.

  • would this be a good first CCPM heli?

  • Yes.

  • awesome thanks

  • Thank you for the help. I think i will go for it... do u have any more tips that where not in your r/c helli tips vid ...

  • I'll send my 9 heli flying tips, for more insight. good luck.

  • hello i have some r/c helli experience and i was wondering if a E-Flite blade cp+ would be a good helli

  • They are not bad, but not really for beginners. If you are flying tail rotored helis ok, then I say go for it. I always say, learn on a VW, and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche.

  • Hi Dave, would moving up to a honey bee FP, from a CX2 be a better transition before going to a CP heli? Or would jumping into a Trex 450, after mastering the CX2 be ideal? I really value your expertise & any info would be great, thanks for your time.

  • Any 4 channel Helicopter is good for learning on beginning with coaxials like Blade MCX, Blade Cx2, Blazing stars, etc.

Yes. My next choice would be the Honeybee Fixed Pitch. They are cheaper and can fly nice circuits around and can handle mild breezes well. Even better is the CP2, but this one has more parts to break if you crash. (see my honeybee videos)

Simulator practice will help to learn controls and orientation.

Learn on a VVW, if you never crash it, then get the Porsche. :-)

  • Mr. Herbert,the man :)

  • :-)

  • Is the honey bee a mark 3

  • No, this is a CP2, however the Mk3 is a great choice to transform from coaxials to a tail rotored heli.

Learn to fly on a vw, and if you never crash, then get the Porsche. LOL.

  • Ive about 23 videos on the HB. One of them should help. See my vids on how helis work, and the one How to fly RC helicopters. Good luck.

  • A step by step of what the heli is suppose to do & how it indicate it is working/starting up would be nice also. This would be a question of newbies like me will be asking for & searching for. =)

  • Try watching my video, "How to fly an rc helicopter". Hope it helps.

  • I have the same heli, it now still sitting after 1 year ago I tried to start it up. it went up & down few time scared the crap out of me. How do you start it up to start spinning. The book is vague on how to start it up & in forum that I asked this question just say read their instruction which did nothing for me. any help would be apreciated. sorry for spelling error trying to keep chr count down. If you hv a vid let me know. thx

  • First study my 9 heli tips. Second, always turn the tx on first, then the heli. Make sure the throttle hold and 3d switches are off and throttle trim lever and stick is down. Then connect the heli battery and dont move anything till the light turns ready.

  • Do you have any xheli coupons?

  • I have found the if you sign up for xheli's mailing list, you will regularly get coupons in email newsletters from them, just as I. I do not have any now. Click the link up in the description box for more and good luck.

  • hi great tips ,iam new to helis ,i bought on of these honeybee cp2, i found when switched on and you go to switch it of ,even toucing it can send it mad, while trying to disconect the wires it can start up full speed ,very dangerous, any ideas please thanks dec

  • First study my 9 heli tips. Second, always turn the tx on first, then the heli. Make sure the throttle hold and 3d switches are off and throttle trim lever and stick is down. Then connect the heli battery and dont move anything till the light turns ready.

  • what do you think about the hb king 2 and can you fly the hb in the video inverted

  • I think it is not as stable as I thought it would be. It will fly inverted, but not if you don't know how to fly regular, because most never make it past hover before giving up. Learn on a VW, and if you never crash, then you can get the Porsche. Study my 9 heli flying tips for more and good luck.

  • hi just a quick question i have had only 1 rc helicopter before as i am more of a plane kind of guy and i was woundering if the honey bee was a good stable aicraft or would a co-axial heli be a better choice? just to say i would not say i was a beginner even though i only had 1 before. thanks

  • Study my 9 heli flying tips first of all. Second the HB FP MK3 is a good step forward from Coaxials, but I would start on a coaxial first like an MCX or CP2 or Blazing Star.

  • i am considering getting the hbk2 as an step up from the axe micro is this a good idea or you would recomend another heli

  • I say learn on a VW, and if you never crash it, then get the PORSCHE. HB King is quite a handful for a beginner.

  • do you think im ready for a hb? i have flown the havoc, micro mosquito, reflex, robo copter, and the s001. the thing is that im 10

  • Age has nothing to do with it, so go for it. Study my 9 heli flying tips first and good luck.

  • Most helis vibrate at low speeds and smooth out at higher speeds and will still fly. You would be surprised, but I have been able to grab the whole head and put slight pressure on it to straighten out the shaft. It takes a little practice, but you can get it pretty close without taking anything apart. Otherwise, go for it.

  • Dear Dave,

I think I've VERY slightly bent my main axis for my CP2. It spins up with a good amount of wobble, then goes to almost none close to 1/2 throttle when the servos kick in to increase the pitch. Is this normal, and am I O.K. to fly with no repairs?

  • er..I got no understanding about RC,I wanto ask,is ESKY a nice factory?ill buy a ESKY heli for my first fligt,is it a nice choice?

  • Esky makes good stuff as far as what I have and done reviews on. This is a good choice or even the HB MK3 is good for learning.

  • Hi, I have seen you do repair and setup on the honeybee king 2, but no review of it. I recently purchased one and have not flown it, and have it upgraded to aluminum head and tail, and purchased a headlock gyro and was curious on your thoughts on the honeybee king 2? A rating if you will, I am a noob..Thanks!

  • I probably wont do a review on it, as after seeing and flying this one, I am spoiled with my Blue Ray. If your a Newbie, you will find the King II quite a handful. I always say, learn on a VW, and if you never crash, you can always get the Porsche. I say park the HB King and get a MK3, if you must have a tail rotored heli. Then memorize my 9 heli flying tips. Good luck.

  • Thanks for the reply. I have been simulating for months, maybe over a year now, and I just went out on a limb and jumped in with both feet I guess, but that is my nature..I flew the air hogs BTW for a bit. But I am confident in learning quickly, and I am soaking your knowledge up like a sponge so thank you for doing all the legwork you've done in the RC community. I look forward to posting my exploits with the HBK2 and look forward to your future posts! Thanks!

  • Night Flyyer, could I get a airwolf cover for my honney bee? Trav

  • I dont know. I will check.

  • man i just got a new honny-bee from xheli and they have made lots of changes

  • Yes.

  • How did you modify it to be less responsive?

  • I reduced the throw by moving the control rods in closer to the servo arm shaft on all 3 servos.

  • ESKY SUCKS!!!!!

  • ESky rocks!!!!

  • They were first and still around, so I agree.

  • Yep, most people who crash, always blame the Manufacturers. I love mine and after 2 years, it still flys great. But I never crashed it ever.

  • how many flights you have on that heli nice 2 years no crash.

  • Hundreds. Same main motor, but I have replaced the tail motor 6 times.

  • i have a axe cpv3 and ae-sky fp i like them both i think the axe cpv3 is made a little better

  • really cool. is the the Honeybee Mk3?

  • Thanks. The MK3 is best for learning to hover and has no adjustable pitch. THe CP2 has collective pitch for doing mild 3d.

  • wats the diffrence between the honey bee cp2 and the mk3 they seeem the same except the cp2 looks bigger and has wooden propellers....

  • You are the best instructor I have ever seen. Clear, understandable, and you clearly understand yourself too :) some people talkin and talkin mixed shit, and they dont know anything about the case. YOU SHOULD BE MR RC HELICOPTER!! One time I would like to visit your garage, and discuss all aircrafts you have. :) I hope!!! you got a lot of money from manufacturers when they have started to use your ideas!!!! ??

  • Your comments are kind and appreciated. I never made much money on my ideas, just a few, because so many companies overseas, simply copy, ya know. No control over them. But I feel good with myself and what I have tried and know what I accomplished. Again I thank you.

  • how much weight do u think it could lift? lol

what do u think about the honey bee mk3 heli?

  • I can lift my 4 ounce Pocket cam x with it. I think the Mark 3 is the best to learn on.

  • so is this a pretty good heli for the price is it fast going forward???

  • Yes. And if you do know know how to fly, it will be very fast for you. See my other vids on it for more.

  • Lol i found this one on Dealextreme and gues what FREE SHIPPING

  • good price since it comes with 2 lipo batterys i might get this someday lol

  • how much do you bought dat thing

  • $129

  • What is the weight of the camera on the helicopter???

  • It weighs about 4 ounces.

  • ok thank nightflyyer im planing on geting it

  • HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?

  • Thanks. Battery lasts about 10 minutes if you let i cool after 5 minutes.

  • NICE CHOUSE OF MUSIC

  • Hey, when i got mine the tail rotor gear was bent and so was the main gear. Can you help me pls

  • THose gears can be warped slightly, but will not affect the flight, unless they are so warped that they un mesh themselves. This is common.

  • thanx

  • how long does it take to charge and how long can you fly it for? how many channals does it have?

  • Technically, this is a 6 Channel heli. It flies about 8-10 minutes per charge,(longer if you stop and let the motors cool for 5 minutes every 5 minutes), so a couple of extra batteries are nice to have.

  • is that a king II

  • probebly not.. if im not wrong the king II has a belt-driven tailrotor

  • No. King II has a belt driven tail. This is an ETRM Heli.

  • my lhs has those for 88 bucks. and the ones that have belt driven tail roters for $129 are those good prices and is the 1 with belt better?

  • Belt drives are more controllable and very sensitive. If you do not know how to fly at all, I would start with The ETRM helis.

Learn on a VW, if you never crash it, then you can jump into the Porsche.

  • but would that be a great price

  • $88 bucks for something that actually works is a great price to me.

Either are good prices. A simulator is also a good choice as the planes and helis last a long time! LOL.

  • thanx

  • hey nightflyer, i was wondering if you could do a review on the walkera 4#3 helicopter

  • If I buy one, I might, but I am not seeing that kind of heli on my horizon in the near future.

  • Hi there nightflyyer, I have just bought a Honeybee FP, but i'm only a beginner and i've only got experience with 2 channel helicopters. I also have the simulator transmitter from e-sky. But, can you send me your 9 tips of heli flying? It would be great if you could send me them

  • On the way in a PM. If this is a duplicate, I apologize.

  • It's arrived, thank you :)

  • hey im 12 and i think that the helicopters are really fun and i was look for something for my birthday and i cant find anything do you have anything to suggest

  • Yes, get a good simulator and an Esky CoCo Lama or Blade Cx2.

  • to make the controls less sensitive, why didn't you just move the balance weights inward on the rotor balances? Your a good RC pilot though!

  • Yes, well I like them out on the end, because the amount of difference is hardly noticeable, compared to what I did.

  • okayy...well i put me cellphone on my lama v4 and lama v4 couldn't lift it.seems like Nokia 3500c is too heavy for lama v4 ;)

  • Bummer.

  • brillant review thanks so much for posting 5stars

  • Thanks very kindly.

  • Heyy dave how much weight lama v4 can lift?

  • Not much. Maybe 4 ounces.

  • Um...this isnt a toy. What do you fly? A picco Z or something???

  • Helicopters are my favorite flying toys

  • hey, is this thing powerfull enaugh to lift about 50-60g of payload?
