This Flyers' team was so well built and should have won the Cup that year...they just had the misfortune of having so many injuries late in the playoffs. Johnsson had a fractured wrist, i believe, Desjardins (our best D-man) was out, forcing Kapanen to play D and even Pitkanen out for some time. The Flyers just got unlucky. Had they been fully healthy on defense, I believe their PP conversion rate would have been much higher and they would've won the series. This playoff loss still hurts..

i agree 100%. desjardins was out and therien was traded to dallas(?) and that force management to bring in markov for williams followed by timander and malakhov and force pitkanen into the lineup. they flourished but just imagine if e.d. had played in place of seidenberg. also, had it not been for hackett and primeau getting injured the flyers wouldnt have gotten esche to step up, burke to be a solid backup and they wouldnt have acquired zhamnov for frasier. all in all great season
