Well he seems to have made a slight mistake in this tutorial. Once you manually connected it as VX8700, you click on the Filesystem icon as mentioned and click the + right after without searching for device. Like he mentioned, it will take a couple minutes to retrieve everything. Once you've done that, continue as the tutorial says.

You will not turn your phone into a brick, he's protecting himself from noobs that will try to use this program for other things.

Is the disclaimer about bricking your phone something that has a realistic chance of happening, or is it just a butt-covering? If it doesn't work, can you try again, or does it lock your phone?

He means this program has the potential to ruin your phone, because there are specific steps to follow. The program basically breaks your phone down like a mini computer, you can acess any file in your phone, and manipulate factory settings, which is not reccomended because it will most definatlely ruin your phone.

theres no CD that comes with the phone so i go to check online and find software but none of them work for my LG shine . at&t said that in the U.S the LG phone doesn't come with a cd for software you have to buy it i think

I think a step is missed or mixed up ..

I scan for phone and it finds Other CDMA phone on port whatever port and thats when i change it to LXV8700 and click on VIEWFILESYSTEM then click on the [+]

Try that .. see if that works

I had the same problem, it wouldn't retrieve the files after I hit the find phone button. Sooo I went straight from setting the phone to vx8700 to my logfile and tried skipping that one step and it worked :D THANK YOU!!!

guys u do not need to use bitpim to make mp3 as ur ringtones. if u have a micro sd card and have a bluetooth usb instead, just click and drag files into ur micro sd card and ur phone will ask it to either "play" or "set as ringtone"

works for me. make sure u cut the mp3 file so its not too big first. Just cut the part u want to hear in the mp3 and make sure its the right kb size.
