Having played through the whole campaign twice, once with, once without patch, I can now safely guarantee that you won`t regret buying this one -

- if you patch the game.

With version 1.02, it is really good, almost all annoying issues removed, acceptable loading times, better graphics and so on. Gameplay is smoother, balancing better and much easier.

Last but not least - the story is one of the best in computer gaming.

BTW: I love the weird level design, too...

It's made with a $39 peice of software. Don't expect it to be the best game you've ever seen. BTW Did you get the feathered black edges from a custom HUD or was it an after effect?

It's made in FPSCreator yeah, i remember chatting on the toolset forums with the designers. I'm quite impressed, myself. Story driven fps has lost its way in the mainstream, favouring realism and teamplay with illiterate morons murdering each other for a flag, so this claustrophobic, atmospheric fan-made fps is a nice change.

I just read here in the pinboards that it got 64% in the review of the latest issue of "GameStar, the most important magazine around here.

While this may not be high-class, it has outgunned many huge commercial games and came close to "Dark Corners of Earth" which had 69%...

However, I`m satisfied and that`s hard enough to achieve ;)

@ ComfortablyNumb83 - You`re wrong, the story is very true to Lovecraft, and yes, the previews didn`t lie, its a GREAT story.

While the technical aspects are lost in mediocrity (and below), the gameplay, the suspense and the storytelling are superb.

If you can live with those horrible loading times (between 2 and 4 minutes per chapter), you`ll get a very unusual yet entertaining experience for less than 20 Euros.

It's not all in graphics. I read somewhere that the story is great (well, it IS based upon Cthulhu mythos), and this is fan made game. So I will give it a try, because I love Lovecraft's fiction! :)
