  • if you continu shacking your legs like that your not geting enywear with your feets

star Practice at a slower speed. because when you shacke your legs like you do you want get a clean note of the kick drum.

keep Practice so i can see you on stage behind a big fucking drum kit(Y)

  • Is this Ddrum defiant 6?

  • Practice makes perfect. It's sloppy, but it's practice, stop dissing. Keep going dude. Good luck.

  • Rumbling noise! ;-) Just try to play something slow and synchronizing especially the feet and hands. And then increase the tempo. Sounds just not as good when the hands are at a different pace than the feet. Use a metronome! Nice kit btw

  • Nice kit, the Defiant is sick

  • SOS UN MUERTO!!!

    TOCAS PARA LA MIERDA

  • twinkle toes full on ballerina shoe

  • Loosen up and relax. Your speed is developing well. I take the shoes off and play barefoot to feel exactly what the pedals are doing. Dribble closer to the floor and shorten the strokes will make you go faster. Use the weight of your leg to keep pressure on those short strokes and compensate for power otherwise lost. Let me know how it works.

  • For speed, I think that's pretty damn good. I do think you are getting tense though. relax and don't force the pedals!!!!! Other than that, speed seems amazing. Just a tip, Not sure it will work for you or not, but I play barefoot. This way, I can feel what the pedals are doing and it allows me more control and to shorten the strokes by dribbling closer to the floor. Use the weight of your leg to hold down the dribble and that will compensate for lost power.

  • a bit sloppy.. are u just tensing up ur legs and twitching them or are u using all ur ankles? how long u been playing double kick for?

  • i noticed how close ur throne is to ur bass drums. not saying ur too close by all means be comfortable, but wen ur legs r at the angle they r in this vid ur losing power. at high speeds, ur legs from ur thighs to ur shins needs to be at a slight obtuse angle. the throne height seems perfect but ur legs go inward from ur knees as opposed to going outward ever so slightly. just a suggestion. reference from flo mounier, george kollias, and derek roddy. stay metal friend \m/

  • @Bostonbird733 Thanks for the suggestion dude.....this is an old vid but I am still trying to figure out double bass and harness it...it has taken me longer than most I believe but I haven't given up yet. I'm always trying new setups throne height/spacing, etc.

  • @Bostonbird733 Actually dude, It's perfectly fine if you sit that close. It all depends on throne height, playing style and technique. But essentially, the closer your throne is to your drums, the lower you're gonna need to sit. This works well for heel up technique. i have this style, but look at Shannon Lucas from black dahila murder. He sits low and close and he drills like a mofo.

  • try starting off slow at first. it takes awhile to get up into the 200 but if u practice at like 160 and progress u'll do good,

    btw sic kit

  • This is why it says practicing. to work out the kinks. God job keep it going post some of you playing with the band would love to check it out.

  • flamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflamflam

  • Faggots, he is practicing speed and stamina. Means he doesn't have them but is trying to get there. Of course it's sloppy. The whole point is to push yourself over the limit and develop some brain synapses. Then when you move down a notch in speed, you see a huge improvement at lower BPM values where you used to struggle.

  • i love your drum set dude

  • @LitleDedBunnies

    Thanks alot!!!

I actually have a second Defiant kit now that ddrum decided to hook me up with after putting me through some trouble and over a year of waiting for one drum.

I got to choose a custom solid color,..so of course....lime green with black hardware

working on getting some vids up of that kit soon

  • @Dameeks16 fuck yeah dude, whenever i save up money from a job i'm going to upgrade my kit

  • just play the fastest double bass u can go perfectly with no fuckups for like an hour straight ull get fuckin good my friend

  • muffle ur snare a bit ..but still really good foot work ;)

  • Practice with a metronome when going 180 + it helped me alot with timing and training my feet

  • people are such douche bags. Yeah its sloppy. But as the title of the video says "Double Bass Practice - Speed" Glad to know no one else besides me and this dude play "sloppy" when we practice. And why the fuck would he slow down? That would defeat the point of trying to get better at playing faster.

  • not very good...

  • Nice set O_O

    nice foot work

  • Can you play slower with ur feet, without going offbeat?? try play littlepit slower in ur next video.. nice doublebass!!

  • yea man youre fast, and just as sloppy as you are fast... slow it down a little

  • keep practicing, you're still sloppy, maybe go a bit slower, and work with metronome! :D:D

  • very tense...

  • feet=siiiiiiiiiiiiick. yes, it is a little sloppy, but god damn dude, crazy feet.

  • god damn thats sloppy

  • You're doing great up to 2:56, but I think you should focus on precision first then build up your speed. Good job.

  • You got speed but before speed try to make it more even, its sloppy

  • i give this guy some credit but he messes up alot he needs to work up his legs and use the swivel tech.

  • Couldn't agree more...thank you

  • Pain ! Listen to you wimps. Remember when just doing a roll made your fore arms hurt? Being sore is part of it. I've done swivel for years, it works...so does heal toe and dbl toe, dbl palm etc, but next time your in the principles office and your leg is bouncing on the palm of your foot, make the other foot do the same. Yeah, it's hard to control but when ur feet oppose each other, you won't believe the speed. With practice you can control it. It's the fastest most effortless speed youll get.

  • goddamn....

your obviously not in control of your own legs!

how do you gain that speed?

  • I think your legs will get cramps after 2-3 minutes of playing??

  • and the explain?

  • man..get more beater distance, and use swivel whit your weaker foot

  • You have no idea what your doing dude! You have no control.

  • I agree

  • damm what are you doing do that a few jear and your feets are wreckt

  • he's using a heel up technique..

men i can see your muscles

wow you really use ur legs...

men gonna give u a thumbs up for that...

you use ur legs heel up and you force it..

    for about 4:00..

men that's sick and that's gonna cost a lot of pain..

don't listen to that damnshit you do the right thing;; posting your video on youtube.... BE RELAXED AND PLAY SMOOTHLY...

  • your forcing it bro

  • Yes I realize that now..

I've been working on proper technique and everything for a while now but still no luck

I'm starting really slow and patiently

  • yea, i find myself doing the same time to time, its hard not to though.

  • Nice! Great speed! nice sound! Evrything's nice! :D

  • Ddrum??

  • ok, so your double bass isn't that "consistent" but your video says stamina practice, and this looks like you have tons of that to spare, and your foot speed is amazing too, but now stop practising stamina, get a metronome, and try some slower beats, and try to master it perfectly before you get faster, so there wont be any flaws left when your at speeds like this (although it's faaaar from bad :) )

Anyway, don't listen to the haters, practice makes perfect, and you practise a lot ;) keep it up

  • dude u really suck bad try to get better before u go on u tube

  • thanks for your input....i just went on youtube for this reason....to get negative feedback from knob gobblers like u...so thank you for giving this a purpose :D

  • rofl knob goblers, I'm robbing that:P

  • good luck walking after ten years of doing that....

  • Love the snare sound. Cool video!

  • i love watching his lessons ...very helpful....i wish they were on dvd

  • i start off with my left but wich ever is easiest i guess

    *im right handed also*

  • can ne 1 tell me i started to play double bass and i play right handed do u lead with the the right foot or left fot to start the doubles

  • hey dude, thats nice, ists hard at first to get the strkes even, but u r going good, doesnt matter if it perfect, just make sure to practice and youll get it

  • you gotta learn to float your legs and let the ankles and toes do the work, it gets pretty messy at parts, but hey, who the fuck am i to tell you! im not critiquing really, im just saying youll go just as fast and more efficient with less effort. nice job so far though \,,/ \,,/

  • hey i really need your help man

your the only person on youtube tht has a video on this drumset where the sound of your drums are good

i have the same set but i really need help tuneing my two bass drums the same and your sound pretty good soo i would love the help

  • hey man umm i'm not the best at tuning the bass drums myself...it might have been the camera i used that just happened to sound like that. Just try your best to get them as close as possible...make sure u try to even them out as much as possible with the stuffing u put in the drums and tuning the resonant and batter heads....tr using a drum dial...it might help to tune them perfectly

  • never use dial, they suck tbh. the real tune comes from your own head and ear, all you motherfuckers who thinks that a drum dial get the tune perfectly, your not a drummer, only a cheater. LEARN to tune, it takes ALOT of time and alot of PATIENCE. man...

  • Hey dude I am a drummer and If you want to sound nice and heavy and brutal and shit tune your outer skin really tight , almost as tight as you can get it without breaking anything .

On the Beater side of the skin, Have it loose keep going looser and kicking it as you go until you find your perfect heavy sound.

To duplicate it for both skins just repeat , tighten your outer skin as tight then loosen up the front till you get them sounding brutal \m/

  • what kind of set is that?

  • im pretty sure its a ddrum defiant or ddrum dominion

  • defiant

  • Nice man, could you possibly post a video of your technique?

Looks like your half using your legs and ankles, cause im having troble

  • Real nice playing my friend!

IS it possible to do this on say.. regular iron cobras?

or to go fast do you need some longer board?

  • I will post a new video soon demonstrating the level that my double bass is at currently, now that I've had enough time to work on it immensely.

I've come to learn that in this video, I was playing solely with my nerves...my feet could not pull of this speed everyday...only when I would sit there and work them up for 5 minutes and then would tense up my legs/feet and would play using nerves...very bad technique..but had no idea at the time.

  • i just got my axis pedals and at my bands last practice i learned something. axis pedals are geared more towards hell down drummers. i have been plaing heel down for 11 years. my drummer has been playing heel up for about the same legnth of time. he had the hardest time getting used to them whereas i instantly felt at home with them. when i tried them in the store i was accidentally using heel-toe and couldn't stop. apperently that is common for heel down players to experience.

  • very interesting to hear and learn...and I think i know what u mean..I'm beginning to notice how playing heel up on them u naturally seem to have to lift your foot completely off the pedal and stomp on them (which some may consider poor technique)...but soon after you seem to find this midway point somewhere between heel up and heel down that allows you to do all the patterns you need.

  • axis pedals lack NOTHING they are amazing pedals and if you change the beaters to your prefered beaters youll be better than set i used the sonic hammers for 3 days b4 i said screw it and threw on rubber iron cobra beaters i am a heel down drummer and have always had to strain to be heard over any bands i play with but i gotta say that when using iron cobra beaters on axis a pedals you will have no shortage of power i have to take it down a notch now lol read my next comment if you play heel up.

  • lack of power? i don't think pedals that cost $400+ are lacking anything

  • it doesn't look so clear, but the speed is very high, impressive..!

  • dont axis pedals lack power or sumthin i have used it and doesnt it suck or sumthin?

  • No, they provide plenty of power, that's just some propaganda someone made up.

  • i found tht it didnt have the power tht most drummers want

  • propaganda? you know what propaganda means ?xD

  • Haha xD

  • have you ever played them? They're the best out there!

  • At this point I'd say harder .....I'm almost losing more feel for them...But haven't lost hope that I'll get used to them...maybe some more tweaks with settings and I'll find the sweet spot.

  • pretty good effort man... did u find the axis were a bit easier to play faster than convensional pedals??

  • are the axis any good ?

  • yea they do the job, they are a different feel and do take some getting used to though I found. I think I still am getting used to them.

  • Sick man im getting this kit too i have the same trouble as you maintaining speed with power people say its cheating but get some triggers as george kollias says "anything over 200-210bpm sounds impossible to hear on normal bass drums" try some bike riding aswell keeps the ol' calves in shape :) xo.
  • Great kit man! im thinking about buying it.. the same grey sparkle kit

  • this guy is actually my boyfriend! OMG I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

  • if this dude keeps practicing he might be able to try some of mighty max weinberg's rolls. keep drumming dude!

  • insane

  • dude, I have exactly the same kit,.... Grey Sparkle?

can you send me a picture? I wanna see how do you have your rack set up!

    Thanks!

  • this guy is crazy on the double bass
