Thanks to this great athletes, men and women, who inspire all runners of the world to practice this beautiful habit. Look for the song´s translation here,
@bmxphenom50 its in the lyrics if you translate it to english... i believe a part of the chorus goes "haile im looking back for you, i cant do this without you" showing kenenisa's and haile's relationship as a student and master... almost as if 2 close warriors part from eachother in combat... might be scary if your teacher has always been there for you and you find yourself all of the sudden leading the front for your country
i cried watching this... Ethiopia and its people are truly BLESSED!!! i love my country it made me who i am today and im sure alot of ethiopians fell the same way! Bless
East Africa is the most beutifull part of Africa ...its time to fix the somali problem and get rit of the nototrious criminal and brutal meles and afwerki so we all can unite under one new flag and a bright future :D

@SuperBored10, Hi I'M Somalian myself and I do like Ethiopian people because they are polite and nice. I used to share a room with an Ethiopian lady for a year and we never had even a single argument. We lived side by side like sisters many years ago.
love this song! and u can see ethio's love for each other from this video..not competition. there are so many things that ethiopians can share to the world....but the only thing the world know or show about ethiopia is famine...even though it happened long time ago dat's the only thing the world know's or remember 'bout us.dat's bullshit! but no one gives a damn..cuz we got the most powerful thing that no other country will never have.......LOVE and CARE to each other.
Perhaps both environmental, and genetic factors can contribute to extreme human biomechanics. Most of all it is an individual bravery, and endurance under elevated stress that helps the Ethiopian athletes break their own records over and over.
Why is it that the one of the poorest countries in the world keeps winning long distance running? Could there be a correlation between poverty and long distance running?
Perhaps. Many of these world class runners from Ethiopia & Kenya (including Haile) credit their success to running several miles to and from school everyday when they were young.
one of the highest country, genetics, strong training , way of life. For example Haile gebreselassie had 10 km to school. He was running from 5 y old.
yes, it´s an intersting question. I think that running is the only sport that doesn´t require money investement to participate. The real top 10 athletic in long distance earn really good money. Partly is motivation and parlly must be genetic advantage.
@DerrenBrown100 I suppose you have infinite knowlege to know there is no being with infinite knowlege. To be intellectually honest, you can only claim - with your limited knowledge - that you don't know if God is real.
those stadiums are crazy, is that the olympic stadium earlier? it's packed to the rafters! and then later, the evening stadium, is like completely empty! anyways, bekele is the best

@eliasres u r right but remember i'm from kenya. we do have the best runners in this world too. i do solute both my country Kenya and Ethopia. ope one day i will carry that flag which is the best Flag in this world.
Basically it begins with the Ethiopian people proudly sending their runners to "battle;" the refrain is Kenenisa/ Sihine saying sorry to "the father of their dreams" (Haile Gebreselassie) for leaving him behind (in Athens 10000m); in the second refrain, Gebreselassie sort of says responds saying, "Go on, the people want this victory." The Athens 10000m was truly an enthralling race... more than a race, but symbolic of something even greater, as the song demonstrates.
The song's original title is "Tarik Tesera" which is amharic and means "History was made" in english (you can hear him saying that at 4:32) . It was written as a tribute to Kenenisa Bekele after he won the 2004 olympic 10 000 meters (you probably already guessed that already).
Teddy is also drawing lines from Kenenisa to Abebe Bikila, the first Ethiopian ever to win an olympic gold medal in 1960, by showing clips of Bikila throughout the vid - another time when "History was made".
I like kennenisa too, but I was REALLY impressed with Zeresenay's sportsmanship. He is so polite. He didn't want to pass Gash Haile G/s , because I think he admires him, but Haile was injured so he told him it's ok, go ahead. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT!!!
What a wonderful touching video and song. This is an effective video that shows the passion and respect Africans have to each other to the sport and their country. What a contrast from the selfish, arrogant mess we have in the west, not to mention doping and other crap.

SO proud that PM Meles & Obama are working together:
ie..the special invitation for Meles at the
G-20? not only did Meles get the 39bn for Africa from IMF; but to his surprise it was tripled to 1.1 trillion for all!!
MP Meles for months had spoken forcefully not to forget all the new developing economies that are being affected by this downfall economy..
well not only did he have Obama's ear!
OBAMA put his weight on it and the rest will be history!
