  • Great little video tip, thanks, haven't checked out media manager in FCP X yet, is it the same?

  • Does media manager move your captured scratch as well?

  • Just what I was looking for! Thank you!

  • im having the same problem and i read something about you have to give it a reel name and do something with the timecode??? Still need help with this because i cant figure it out

  • I think you've got the answer!! As a test I right clicked one of the media files, went to 'item properties' and then 'logging info' and made sure it had a reel name and timecode. I added a reel name and tried the DV sequence again - it went from 1.8Gb to 120MB!! Cheers! Hope it works for you too.

  • @bobbyladd this works great! thanks!

  • @Ps3Legend4U Okay I think I figured it out: if you have problems deleted the unused media: right click on the sequence and select 'Make Sequence Clips Independent' then try media manager. This worked for me!!! Don't have to hassle with that reel name BS!

  • bobby I have the same problem

  • I don't know what's wrong with mine, but it just won't reduce in size. Even when I click on a 4 second clip on the timeline and go to media manager, it says its 14GB - ie the original clip size! (delete unused media is clicked, so that's not the problem)

  • Make Sure the

"INCLUDE MASTER CLIPS OUTSIDE SELECTION" box is not checked, highlighted or selected then it will do it's job

  • @bobbyladd - After some experimenting, I found out what may be causing problems for you. I had to put the clips I wanted to import into my Capture Scratch folder, then import them, then give them a Reel name (right click>item properties>logging>click in reel name). Just straight up importing media clips to use, even giving them a reel name, didn't work. Thumbs up if this helps so others see it. btw, great tutorial!

  • Thanks man. If you were in the same room as me I'd give you a big man hug.

  • Good. Thanks!
