He was so miss used in the WWE. He did the Tombstone Piledriver better than anyone in the history of the WWE, even the over-rated has-been Undertaker.
@Whyisthisthat SuicidalDragon usually uses puroresu footage for copyright reasons - the Japanese (and Mexican, to an extent) promotions don't seem to care if fans use classic footage on YouTube whereas American companies always put in complaints and get videos taken down and uploaders banned.
@toadman842 Dean Malenko is a real wrestlor he as like 1,000 moves-these guys today on the WWE or not real wrestlors they are just well conditioned athletics-Randy Savage's only move was jumping off the top rope-which is not wrestling-Hulk Hogans only move was a leg drop-Dean Malenko is a true wrestlor-if anyone wants to learn anything about real wresting watch Dean Malenko matches-he is the man of 1,000 moves
@TheSuicidalDragon He didn't say Malenko invented it, but he did say Malenko used to do it (in Japan, I think) from the top rope. Have you ever seen this?
@Jontish316 Dean Malenko did the Jackhammer first, yeah, but he did it from the turnbuckle. Goldberg was the first who did it in the middle of the ring with pure strength. but its true, he saw Malenko doin it n said: "oh yeah I like that"
Sorry you are missing a brainbuster, gutbuster, and flying leg lariat. He used those way more than he ever did things like a tombstone or flying crossbody...
@SERGEIwrecked Never had a dull match, could work with anyone! Never really got the break he deserved but always very well respected! He was the Kurt Angle of the 90's!
It was a joy to watch Malenko perform; his work against Benoit in WCW was a great display of technical skill, and I wish we had gotten the chance to see him work versus Bret Hart in Hart's glory days. Malenko had all the in-ring tools, but his mic skills and size are what kept him from top-tier status IMO.

Despite him being a favorite, I don't think he would have done well with a world title run, but I think he'd have made a good challenger for it.
@TheSuicidalDragon That's a tiger powerbomb. A Tiger driver looks similar but it ends up with a straight up piledriver. It's similar to Triple H's botched pedigree-- dangerous move. The move in this vid is definitely a tiger powerbomb and not a tiger driver.
I was unfortunate enough to only see Dean Malenko's appearences in the WWF where he remained at a pathertic mid-card status. Back then, I couldn't stand him. I thought he was increadibly boring & his James Bond persona was aweful.
It wasn't until years later did I realise that he had phenominal technical abilities and was nowhere near used to his full potential.
To make things worse, the main Championship holder back then was "The Man of 5 Moves" HHH.
@koalajones88 haha i agree on that but that would be one badass accountant can u imagine him ccrunhcing numbers than snap suplexing his boss on a fuckin table that would be Epic!!!!!
Although it was WCW I remember seeing Dean Maleko vs Chris Beniot in a great match up.....That was the most technicaly gifted match i've seen......Dean Maleko might not be a hall of famer but he won't be forgotten
@azrielseclements LOL, he wasnt a heavyweight though....he was a light-heavy, he also wasnt that tall.....like 5'7-5'6......so he was in an odd position....you dont see many guys that small in the business be a technical/mat wrestler.....except for maybe Brian Danielson.
@egg64 well it depends, I mean a light-heavyweight would be somebody under 230lbs. HBK, Angle & AJ Styles remain under 230lbs (Angle went from 220 to 240 & back down to 220). Styles may be taller than Malenko, but they were roughly the same weight.
I feel really sorry for Dean, Two of his Best Friends died in very close succession and Perry Saturn has been missing for a while and is assumed by many to be dead.
@fsfslehqi I didn't know Perry Saturn had been shot! It is unfortunate that Malenko lost his two best friends such close succession. Too bad Benoit and Malenko didn't get a bigger push in WCW as Horsemen.
Seriously you have forgotten all the innovative moves he s created and well they are the top ones: the Jacknife Suplex from the Top Rope (circa 1995) - Goldberg admits he took it from Dean, the Firemancarry gutbuster from the top rope (against Rey Misterio in 1997 for instance) and the backbreaker turned into a submission
Malenko had once a 4* Match with Scotty 2 Hotty...i think that says all. He was one of the best and there werent too many Workers who could go hold for hold with the Iceman!
What about Dean Malenko's gut buster from having his oponent on his shoulders and throwing them over his head onto his knee. I always thought that was classic when he would do that from the top rope!
@pedrokid77 I'm not sure how many people remember but he actually made number 1 in the PWI 500 in...I can't remember which year it was but I'm thinking it was between 96 and 98. But don't take my word on the year.
