  • we could be spending money on more important matters. DOES IT REALLY MATTER HOW WE GOT HERE? we're here now, so i'm not really that curious as to create something that might end us..... kinda ironic. no?

  • Such a fool this scientist filmed, and he even smirks as he gets high school physics wrong. Momentum cancelling fantastically high energy collisions such as in this collider have not "been going on for billions of years." Momentum cancelling means the collision results may end up stopped and remain here. Such fools are running this experiment. Clearly only luck is protecting us, not well considered science.

  • mark my words, they will eventually make large amounts of anti matter, and it will become the 21st centurys atomic weapons

  • @101andrewj what is anti-matter?

  • @happypants07 its energy without mass... our solar system contains none

  • @happypants07 Anti-matter is the opposite of matter as we know it. It has negatively charged particles in it's nuclei and positrons circling it, unlike our protons in nuclei being surrounded by electrons. When anti-matter and matter touch, they annihilate one another and release pure energy. Anti-matter is the most destructive thing in the universe, but it can not be produced in large enough amounts for practical use as a weapon.

  • So any news of the Higgs Boson???

  • If micro black holes didn't evaporate because of Hawkings Radiation we would have been long gone, sucked into a black hole already. Everyday millions of particles entered earth at carring higher energy levels than those of the Large Hadron Collider, yet not a single micro black whole has survived yet. If the media wasn't so paranoid about those events, maybe we would be 50 years more advance technologically than we are now.

  • What went wrong? Why is Earth not sucked in the black hole yet? LOL

  • @obaeyens. cause CERN's not Kern, and can't wrap their own girdle's roundabout the Earth's Ley Line Grid to catch up their their own asses!

  • Scientists trying to make balck holes, hahahahaaa, much ado about Nothing, looool

Nature 400,000,000,000,000 - Man made sceince 0, hahahahaha!

  • @KaOssis

Says the retard on his computer.

  • Vire70, I'ed like to see you wrap your girdle roundabout the Earth's Ley Line Grid and see if you can catch up with your ass before your Ass catches up with you!

  • @KaOssis

    Glad to see you agree.

  • Sorry, I don't ever agree with half brained Freemason Pavlov paedophiles like you Vire70, infact, I'm not sorry abut that, I'm extatically elated that all you have is a bash on the head with a cattle batton whilst standing in a black box with the skull and crossbones painted in the bottom of ti for which you call Enlightenment, whereas I'ed call it brain damage, and you've proven the fact Mr Alzheimer brain degrade!

  • @KaOssis

LOL, nice. We're definitely on the same page. You are retarded!

  • Well you the one that can't wrap yur only girdle roundabout the Earth's Ley Line Grid and catch up with yur own Ass Vire70, so whose going to be changing your nappies when your diagnosed with Parkinsons then, cause it certainly won't be me!

  • The guy with the annoying voice doing the bit is almost as irritating as most of the idiots here leaving comments.

  • Why waste money on this. I can drink a pint of whiskey and tell you how the big bang happend then you can just pay me lol!

  • "No black holes yet, hee he".

Uh ok, buddy. There is a very large variable for error here.

You are going to be drinking your coffee in your boxers one morning and some mad scientist creates a Black Hole that sucks up the earth... Ooopps.

  • stupid guy

  • so what the fuck are they gonna do with that thing since it doesnt work?

  • They said 3.8 Billion dollars and someone might say it's not worth the money yet these people do nothing about the cost of wars and other things many waste money on

  • lol this thing is the most wack bit of kit ive ever seen

will never work we know nothing , fuck me no person living on this planet can explain anything based on fact or fiction.

Its upper class guessing at best.

  • this research will fuck up the solar system and hence 2012. Yeah..

I like my theory, I'll spam it now.

  • that was gay its gonna destroy us all lmao

  • haha

  • I'm eating a cheese toasty :)

  • particle collides tomorrow morning

  • lols he said it's done in nature on a regular basis at much higher speeds, so why don't we study that on a regular basis instead of spending billions building something that doesn't work?...I guess it's all about control; we can't be happy unless we can control every aspect of our lives...lol

  • your hair color proves it all

  • My hair color proves that particles are colliding at much higher speeds in nature than the hadron collider? Mind explaining? Are you talking about light particles colliding against my hair causing it to be black? So, what are they hoping to achieve from the hadron collider if it already happens all the time?

  • It happens all the time in NATURE, not in a laboratory which is a condition that must be met for science to be done. It does happen in the upper particle collisions happen all the time in Earth's atmosphere, but there are not detectors up there to supply the physicist data to learn from. They are mainly looking for the Higgs Boson which is believed to give atoms mass.

  • Damn it, you guys! This is not going to cause black holes that will threaten the Earth! These people know what they're doing.

And stop debating religion every time there is a science video put on YouTube! This has nothing to do with it! Relax!

  • This has never been done b4 therefore they dont know, Theories are Theories not facts. and what did mr. head of uni say? This will definatly work... Yea and then all those wonderfull problems popped up the magnets Melting and fusing the helium leakage going through the pipes.. come on you just cant predict things are going to work.

  • @SilverIgnika I know right, why are the people on here, who probably work at a gas station or some other job that only requires a GED, so convinced that scientists are crazy and just winging it? I blame television. But if you know the science to build the LHC I think possibly you have a better grasp of whats going on than your average person.

  • It's funny that quaran, bible, and other doctrines constantly state that "god" wants us to basicly learn, grow, and love so if we are not trying to learn about the where and what we live in are we not technically defeating the reason our lord created us for in the first place? Not to mention making ourselves exist in ignorence therefore creating a hatred of the earth it self because we are discriminating against the physical systems which might help us undersatnd what we live in better?

  • im sorry.. which god do u believe in again? theres just so many out there its hard to choose...

  • I essentailly belive in god but i hate religion (mainly because it's used by the powerful as a manipulative and brainwashing tool) but i believe that the universe is to complex for no inteligence or a creator to be behind it

  • wow. I thought I was the only one who believed in God and not in religion. Hello person.

  • Complexity is subjective.

  • Ha ha. I suppose you think we will all die on December 21st 2012 as well then. lol Research first please

  • you are epic dude

  • Hey Kid! can you tell me how Muhammad SAW know about the BIG BANG 1400yrs ago? Science was even advance in that year.. Can you tell me why my prophet is wrong and science can tell us better? Am i wrong to say that science took out verses from the Quran to discover the Big Bang Theory? Can you tell me why scientist are confused on how Muhammad discover the big bang before science could?

  • i used to be mouslim bro and i can tell you that greeks were already talking about atoms 5000 yrs before jesus so nevermind mohamed

  • this video kinda reminds of the movie were these army men go though a tunnel to time travel

  • im sorry... where did u get these statements from? mohammed never saw the big bang, i dont recall being told that by any of my muslim friends..

and why do u fear change? change is what makes us human.. denying our right to change and flourish as human beings will never let us understand what it means to be human.

  • by the way, "big bang" is a scientific theory. muhammad was a child rapist, not a scientist, so he didn't know shit.

  • Normal people are trying their best to save the world by not having war and trying to reduce global warming and many other things. Whats the point of doing this if there are a few people risking the world more? Some people say that it's a risk that we have to take. But some individuals dun wanna take the risk. Do you think for urself and not others? There are alot of people who wants to live without risking what other people are doing.

  • how.....the....hell? why the hell would they do this? really? my possibly dooming us all, we will learn more about the univers. how the duck will use learning about the collision of an atom affect my life so much, that we just have to do it. despite the huge risk. i, and most of the rest of the world, dont want to die ok. just a wast of money.

  • There is risk every day. The risk of the unknown. It is knowledge that gives us the ability to deal with risk and avoid it. Lack of knowledge just makes us sitting ducks for the unknown!

  • well, were sitting ducks then.

  • Give me 20 years to answer this question and I could probably write a book on it. Your asking for answers that we don't have yet to explain your question. Whenever you were sitting in a crib, people were saying the same thing about computers!

  • It's actually safer than smaller particle colliders, because micro black holes are harmless (because they just vanish due to hawking radiation) and it's less likely to produce strangelets than a less powerful particle collider.

  • Man recreating god's creation = doom to us all.. Humans are stupid animal. They think they know a lot about the universe. If this LHC is risking the whole universe, might as well stop the experiment and carry on a normal life. They think they know it all.

  • what are you talking about? humans knowingly admit that we know nothing about the universe. the point of the experiment was to find out more...its called science.

  • some things are not meant for human to find out.. these things are to be left alone to our creator. Some things we can depend on science but some are not to be played with. God created us with brains to think, but not to play with god's creation.. And yes, there are risk everyday, but we human must reduce the risk, not making it worst.

  • says who? stop talking about "god" of which you know nothing about. you're living in religious, brainwashed fear. and i've noticed you don't have a clue about english vocabulary so don't preach to me or anyone else mate. you're just afraid science will be able to tell the true story of the universe instead of what prophecies and such say.

  • Comment removed

  • Hmm, Look at your background, you're a kid.. 18 yrs of age. You're a kid, grow up. You know nothing.

  • Hey kid! I'm afraid science will be able to tell the truth instead of what the prophecies say? You're wrong fool. LHC is an experiment to create a miniature big bang for scientist to study. I'm sorry to say this kid. My Prophet, Muhammad SAW, discovered the big bang before scientist gets to find out. Please read the quran before you say science can tell the truth. The Quran is able to tell the truth even science took it out from the quran.

  • I heard Rumors they said LHC will start in mid-November, we don't know another VLHC will built in 2011 and start in 2012, OMG! if LHC start in 2012 like doomsday 20121 that's can be our end! check internet and type " Very Large Hadron Collider. so it's appear LHC don't have black hole detector.

  • its amazing SUNS COLLAPSING IN ON THEMSELVES create black holes i HIGHLY doubt that small atoms that have MUCH less enrgy would be able to create such a force and besides they didnt even find any black matter one of the reasons they wanted to find black matter is for space travel black holes are like shortcuts in space but their "black" holes which mke them hard to find in an ndless sa of BLACK plus if we did find black matter it would be hard to transform and could kill anything thatwent in it

  • The concept of the God Particle is most probably correct but to assume that recreating the conditions for its detection will remain as science fiction. Generating Quantum conditions of time and space will not allow detection of the God Particle in designed precise locations. Unexpected forces under these conditions can easily be generated in other parts of the cyclotrone (Let the mathematicians give this some thought, if only to prevent further costs to the Project.

  • What a waste of time and money, they are obsessed about firing these particles, and they are not even particles. Particles are ok if your working out finite math, but in the real world light, protons, photons are not particles, in the same way the earth is not flat!!!! And we knew tht a long time ago....

  • so when will the big test begin i wanna see the pictures GOddaemmet

  • I agree with (prabindahal) there not going to get the protons to go the speed of light.

  • ''Could destroy the earth!'' LOL

  • It's going to be very good for everyone; i'm looking forward to this:)

  • Love how they say "critics" and not science fiction fans who think the experiments are cool anyway and would totally be worth such a risk. lol.

  • lol 3.8 billion, was 5.4 billion then 8 billion now I think it's at 10billion? Sounds like a big money vacume to me lol

  • as i understand it, no collisions yet, even as late as July 4, 2009. the people gloating about not having re-created the Big Bang or black holes, apparently didnt even know that for any particle production from collisions, collisions are first necessary-- the startup tests have not included any collisions, as i understand it. one would think even pop science writers would make that point clear, but perhaps not making that clear was part of their job.

  • this sounds like a sci-fi movie. a group of mad scientists are secretly plotting to destroy the world lol not rule it, destroy it

  • WHAT THE HELL!?!?! It might create a black hole that will rip the fabric of space and eat the whole figgin' solar system. Those scientist might destroy the EARTH! Wow, I thought I'd never had to say that

  • they said mother nature's power is much stronger then the big band RECREATION, if it was real mother nature would be killed in one hit.

  • -_-" The experiment's kinda already been executed. lol.

  • No it will not, They cannot move these particle faster than light , even if they could, This would not do formation of blackhole or any kind of hole

  • They need to cut this shit out, who the fuck told them it's okay to endanger the entire fucking planet just cause they're curious about a theory that is probably extremely incorrect anyways. Im gonna be very pissed if it's the swiss... the fuck swiss!! that destroy the world

  • There are, although very rare, highly relavitivistic protons smashing into our upper atmosphere that have energies of 10^20 eV, far above those that can be produced by the LHC.

If these particles have never creeate a stable black hole or a vacuum bubble or some othewr 'dooms-day' until now, then we are quite safe with the LHC.

  • Learn how to write in proper English first. Or else your going to look like an idiot your self for just cussing randomly at a youtube video that no one is going to give to fucks about : D

  • ur all fukn idots fuck you fuck the goverment an these idiots who made the atom smasher becouse wana prove allah an god wrong so soon theyll get their black hole for bein ignorant

  • They're not trying to prove God wrong, I can pretty much guarantee that every scientist at CERN has a better understanding of religion than you would. After all your the one who is so afraid of dying. You assume that what someone with poor scientific knowledge is saying about, oh only the biggest conglomerate of scientists around, is true. Let me guess you watched five minutes of the news about the LHC and suddenly your and expert on it?

  • @smoothjamskillmouren no, scientsits are not trying to prove God wrong, they're just desperate for a Scapgaot that God wont give them, hahahaha!

  • lol watafuck? Go and die , stupid.

  • = ]

  • Dude.People glorify ignorance are ignorant. That means you.

  • this is why humans are truly stupid. even if they say its unlikely, they said it was unlikely for the titanic to sink and it did anyway, except this is with the earth meaning everyone would die if even a milli second of anything goes wrong

  • boy...particles are given higher energy outside Earth everyday every minute!did anything disappear?...NO!look,google Hoover Dam ...people also said it would destroy Earth stopping it's rotation....

    Newer generations bring more ignorants

  • 3.8 billion dollars? Thats chump change to our new president Obama. Seriously, he probably spends that much on a daily basis. Heard he printing up a trillion.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, we've had some mediocre presidents in the past. Great response.

Our CURRENTpresident will fund any project that remotely sounds like a project and the american taxpayers will mortgage their futures to pay for it. Why not pay for this project, just add it the list.

Obama will be known for bancrupting our nation, yeah I know you were unhappy with Bush, but try to stay current will ya?

Obama: Yes we can...spend every dime.

  • Comment removed

  • We'll just spend our way to prosperity!

Obama's making it up and you are brainwashed.

Before Obama came along, I'll bet that you knew that bancrupting a great nation in the name of stimulization would lead to prosperity.

No, of course you didn't because it's not a fact. It's stupidity and arrogance on the grandest of scales. Let us ignore history and common sense and for gods sake, PRINT MORE MONEY. One stupid action deserves another.

  • This was a reply to thelifeaquatica

  • Though it is physically possible for it to form a black hole, the chances are so small(smaller than all of the air molecules in a classroom to stay on one side) that we just accept that it'll never happen.

  • if we got sucked into a black hole it would happen so fast we would not even know what happened eny ways

  • are we sure time wouldn't slow when entering an event horizon?

  • maby but we would be dead right away eitiher way

  • No. Only a distant observer would see the time slow down. Actually we would 'red- shift"' indefenitevly according to him and he would never see us enter the black hole.

We wouls not even notice passin the EH also because we would be dead.

The gravitationa field of a small black hole would tear us apart far before we reach the EH.

  • i thought burned out stars created black holes

  • hey churchy mcChurcherson. we ARE the books of the bible. the live through our actions and minds everyday. even the books of the bible that constantine took out when he edited the gospels to conform to his new kingdom, constantinople, in which we still live.

  • Also if some of you idiots actually did your research and weren't so ignorant, you would find out that if a black hole is created, it would be so small that it would disappear in a fraction of a second. You big dummies.

  • stop being pussy's and let these people do their work lol. id rather these guys being at the controls than some of u idiots!

  • when it run's at full power. I believe that instead of a black hole forming, I believe it will be more like a gateway. Reformation of lay lines will occur creating a nexus. A hole yes. Just not one that pulls everything in. We are in for a real treat. Instead of waiting for a natural disaster that will wipe out humanity. Humans being curious little no brain creatures, Actually finds a shortcut to the obliteration of it's species and every other poor creature on this planet. Sad sad days.

  • Oh....I dont see a new universe yet..... I love science but to watch people spend all this money on what is nothing more than conjecture and hope and yes faith, when it could better go to starving children. Genesis is the only explanation you'll ever need for our origin. Now take that crap apart and sell it for junk and feed people starving around the world. The only black hole this thing is going to open is the one that leads to the pit of hell.
  • Oh shut up. The advancement in technology will one day provide the means to feed starving people on this planet.

  • i like how your preaching hope to me. as far as im concerned that thing has shown me more hope and proof than your damn pocket jesus book. why the fuck am i gonna listen to a stupid fuck that reads a book about a guy following directions from a burning bush?

  • Like I said...the pit of hell.

  • you are a moron sir... 3gdosrsfs.... this is awesome stuff that has no business being harrassed by a guy who is moronic... do me and the rest of us a favor and just quit breathing

  • The risk is SO not worth it...

At least let people vote on this sort of thing so this madness doesn't have the chance to go wrong.

  • wate so this thing is gonna destroy earth

  • Big bang?

    More like small whimper

    (at vast expense)

  • Again....save the taxpayers around the world money... read Genesis...its all you need to know. Oh, do yourself a read solid

and read the rest of the books too.

All this effort and money could have solved poverty already.

billions of dollars and effort on what

amounted to what? Someone could have lit off a firecracker and got a much more

impressive result......think of the cost savings there..

  • FYI, Einstein is considered to be the greatest physicist of that time because he had more new theories that were confirmed and accepted by the scientific community than any other scientist. Neils Bohr was also greatly respected; but they did have some differing opinions.

  • This particle collider, (in my opinion) is kind of like a key, to a safety deposit box, that is believed to contain tangible proof, (if you will), of the most fascinating, wonderful, and globally beneficial theories.and it will no doubt also contain things, knowledge, that goes beyond what we'd imagined.

  • Comment removed

  • 3.8 billion....and they still cant do it....hmmm but it all happened by chance

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • So I've read the comments posted here about this particle collider today, and both arguments are reasonable. The state of the world in general, has been one of my biggest indignations for a long time; but I do believe this collider will work and will benefit people greatly world wide.

  • Yeah it's gonna make a good bomb shelter.

  • Actually, I was viewing it as a solution for global hunger, something that has made Me feel sick ever since I was a child.

  • Just more proof that scientist waste alot of money on a bullshit theory!! lots of hungry children coulda been fed with that money, but instead they try to play God..sad

  • What kinda bullshit is that? Hungry kids need to go fishing or find animals to eat, who the fuck helped us originally? No one, do it themselves and if they are incapable, our race will continue to evolve leaving the weak and incapable out to die while the intelligent and strong continue to advance in technological matters.

  • ppl like you make me sick. That kinda mindset is why the world is so fucked up.And let me tell you the weak and incapable will be the last ones standing, and dancing on your grave!

  • and you better be fucking careful about your remarks like that in the real world because sombody like me would kill your fucking ass.

  • After reviewing my comment to you i was overreacting a little, your right in a way..but sadly..

  • I had sex on a boat yesterday. Yup, interesting.

  • lol

  • honestly i've been working on atsronomy since i was 6 years old and i've NEVER beleived in the big bang, because how can u have a bang, from absolutely nothing. If you don't know, the theory states that the universe was created from a big bang, and before that there was nothing? thats like trying to make a dynamite explosion without any dynamite. aND THEY'RE TRYING TO PROVE AN IMPOSSIBLE THEORY BY SPENDING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS? This human race is very sad indeed.

  • You're an idiot. Do you honestly believe the top scientists in the world are wasting billions of dollars over nothingness? The objective is not to prove the Big Bang theory but that may come with understanding the symmetries of the new matter and antimatter particles they are attempting to discover through these collisions. Personally, I find it extraordinary. I hope they get the LHC up and running soon.

  • Yep, you are stupid! All of universes history is a loop. In the end of universes history our universe will colapse into its self so it ends in a point that is the beginning of a new universe. This point is called singularity. A point with universes mass, with no size and were physic laws don't work! That's the "big bang" for new universe. A loop!

  • Who said Einstein was God?

  • Do you know that they're just guessing, or are you just guessing?

  • shut the hell up you morons, none of you are scientists

  • Yeah maybe there has been particals smashing into the earth. But thats not particals smashing into other particals at near the speed of light.

  • Yes it is, because the Earth is made of particles? lol

  • there will always be retards in this world

  • Why do a huge experiment which could end the world when you can end world hunger WTF 3.8BILLION?!

  • you do know that if we did spend the 3.8 billion you propose it would be short term. iter will advance our tech and is a more long term solution and will have a way larger impact.

you do know that cern invented the world wide web, revolutionized computing with grid computing. created the magnets that will be used at iter (fusion project) as well as advance medical technologies like mri pet and x ray amongst the manny scientfic achievements;cern generates more revenue and does more than you think

  • No black holes because this was only an initial test of the machine in which they spun individual proton particles in the SAME direction. The REAL experiment isn't scheduled until this spring when they will actually COLLIDE particles traveling in OPPOSITE direction. How stupid these people are that don't even understand what they are doing. Of course nothing will happen whenever you're merely testing the machine to make sure that it is capable of spinning the particles in the same direction.

  • like you know more????? do you even know what you are talking about?

lhc is 100s of times more powerful than the other coliders but the speed is pretty much the same. high energy particles have been bombarding the earth for 4.7 billion years. i havent spotted a black hole yet

  • Further to your good point, collisions in opposite directions - especially with such a perfectly aligned head on vector - is a condition that does not occur in the natural world.

  • You're absolutely right. Particles colliding in nature do so by traveling in the same direction!

  • i think the same too...thats why they dont ever talk bout the origins of the big bang just what happened after

  • why the fuck are they spending billions of dollars on a theory that doesnt even matter. point is where here regardless of an explosion or not. stupid mandking messing with forces that arent sup

  • you are a retard

  • i have to agree with conejita why does this matter considering that cern admitted that 1% of the data they will collect MIGHT be useful but most likely will not be.

  • you do know that cern invented the world wide web, revolutionized computing with grid computing. created the magnets that will be used at iter as well as advance medical technologies like mri pet and x ray amongst the manny scientfic achievements.

science impacts your life more than you think and every science project or experiment biulds on the knowledge that powers the computer that you are using to view this. as a matter of fact the world wide web was invented at cern. dont like it? gtfo.

  • dude like this is like cool sh1t man

  • Maybe they never collide?????????? meybe they just spin forever until a force breaks it up

I don't think they'll vreate a blackhole lol they're not "that" smart MUAHAHAHA

  • They didn't collide anything yet, and they haven't even gotten CLOSE to full velocity. Good thing they broke the damn thing, gives us a few more months =P

  • that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard

  • suck in planets xD....sounds like porn

  • thats just fucking stupid proffesionals on black holes, you do realize that its a theory wich means i making this shit up but compacted all the it into one smart word, whens the last time you've met a scientist correct about somthing (on purpose)

  • When they say it won't happen, that's also a theory.

  • a theory holding consensus and the overwhelming majority of evidence, even the theories that state it could create a black hole say it is only going to last for a few femtoseconds.

we have already observed a man made misfeature black hole, its really nothing new

  • they are usually right except when they are meddling with far off theoretical stuff. even then the theories that are off are not off by too much

  • It could have already happened.

  • Well, if you consider time as being the 4th dimension..... Its only going to take time before it happens. Which is kind of a scary thought.
