This brings back memories of my dad playing Jolson records in the living room. My dad's cousin was Lou Bring, (I think that's how his name was spelled),. He was Jolson's orchestra leader for a time.
Thanks for sharing! ... Lou Bring was indeed the leader man for Jolson in his two season stint on the Kraft Music Hall radio show (late '40's) ... Jolson only wanted the best! ... To get the flavour of Lou's wonderful orchestra, listen to it via my video "Al Jolson sings Easter Parade - Tribute to Judy Garland" ... Taken from one of the half-hour Kraft Music Hall radio shows, which featured Al Jolson, Oscar Levant and the Lou Bring Orchestra.
This is such Bliss...It reminds me of my Dad who was born in 1915 and Jolson was his favorite singer and performer. The dedication to family and love ones in the songs of this era give credence to the soul of man which today unfortunatly is almost forgoten.
What a wonderful tribute. I remember driving in the car with my father, who died when I was 12, and his singing this song. I cried then, and I'm teary now.
Wonderful, my Dad used to do a Jolson tribute act, he passed away 10 years ago, some really good memories brought back listening to this, thankyou, god bless.
Yes, it was at the Centenary show with Clive Baldwin. I remember I took all sorts of Singing Fool memorabillia and he willingly signed everything I threw in front of him and I wouldn't get rid of any of it for the world.
this song made my mum cry as she had just lost my brother with meningitas when he was just4 and my dad took her to see the picture with out realising what was its content. she ran out of the cinema in tears . up until she died she could never listen to this song and she lived to be 89
What a poignant story ... Thanks for sharing ... We should also dedicate this video to your late (4 year old) uncle and in special memory to your Mum.
I know nobody cares, but I'm 13 and I love this.

Loved this song since I was a kid 80 years ago. But then the angels took my little girl when she was 10. Real tears ever since.

Watching this video, I'm crying my eyes out. It wasn't too long ago when both my boys were three. What a magical time : )

Magical time indeed, our eldest of four is now aged 52, the youngest 42 ... yet it doesn't seem that long ago when they took their first steps!

I remeber meeting Davy Lee at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1998 and found him to be a very down to earth and lovely man to talk to.
