  • You need to use angle iron to support the brickwork at the oven opening.

Using bricks with 4 holes, where ?

You need to buy firebricks and re-inforce the concrete base.

  • Great job - I know how hard it is........ wonder if you could help with a couple of queries -

    - you used fire bricks: how do you think these compare to the commonly recommended refractory bricks ? plus where did you get yours from ?

    - why not use firebricks for the oven roof ?

    - why a 'barrel' shape not a 'dome' ?

ta - sorry to ask so much, but to do it right first time !!!

  • doh - refractory bricks = firebricks !! although there are still different grades apparently ! Still appreciate knowing where you got yours from !

Also seen some builders try to 'isolate' oven thermally by suspending floor on the steels ! Any thoughts ?

  • @BLOGROCKROCKY

I read somehwere that you dont need to use fire bricks, Bricks are fired at 1100 degrees and the oven wont get that hot... im using class A Engineering bricks.... :).. will have to wait and see what happens...

  • Bravo ! when is next pizza ? lol

  • Very nice, good luck with your next project....

  • Awesome, this must have cost an absolute fotune and where did you find the space to build it?

It reallydoes lok first class you are no mug. Well done and thank you for sharing. PS how many hours did it take you to build ?

  • It cost less than a grand which when you see small oven's on EBAY for the same money makes it a bargain.

It took less than 40 hours to complete.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • Thank for the reply.

  • Glad to see you finished the project.... Iv'e been working on mine this weekend after a long gap 75% done but I want to build a tiled roof so that could slow things up again, but trying to finish it this year!, hows your pizza's / other food turning out? You did a good job there is a lot of work involved isn't there....

  • that is superb! and i thought when you first wrote to me you were an amateur!great oven
