These are amazing. Whenever I saw pictures like these around the internet I thought they had been Photoshopped. Well, some might've been - but you can obtain the same result with a little bit of creativity. :)
Thanks for another quality video Mark.Theres not many tutorials that explain things as well as you which is why I subscribed and keep watching and learning from you.Cheers buddy keep up the good work.
hi there.i saw all your episodes and i improved my photography..but i have one question............ can u tell me the function of redeye........... and how to setup...........in camera? i hav d90 nikon.................
@MrMukeshguru Red-eye is caused when light is reflected from the inside of your eye, and you get the curious red effect. On most cameras, red eye mode attempts to fix this by firing a flash before taking the exposure. By firing a bright light quickly before taking the exposure, the eye closes up and there is less chance of light bouncing off the inside of your eye and coming back red when the shutter opens and the flash for the photo fires.
@dalex100 In answer to question 2. He's shooting at a slight angle, so the light is not reflected back to the camera lens from the glass when using an on camera flash.
food coloring and flower shooting technique is amazing. One most technique that I love is your dancing step. Your are awesome tutorial with good entertainer.
Thank you Mr Mark and say hello to Chelse and Michael
can you use the d7000 in commander mode without having the on camera flash going off or only with the SU-800 speedlight commander? anyone who knows please answer, thanks!
@ErnieCosmo its equipent that you can get from his site that are over price by a LOT! Amazon is a much more affordable place to get it. You gotta be thankful for the ideas though. I'm gonna replace his flashes with a couple flood lights that i have in the garage and see how that turns out. :)
@IngloriousSob Amazon is NOT cheaper to get photo equipment from !! Sometimes, you can find SOME cheap Chinese imports that are not nearly as good, as you can find on Adorama or B&H. Example. El Cheapo sandbags from ePhoto vs Matthews (I own BOTH: Matthews is unquestionably better AND yes, a better value also) BUT, when you compare same items, Amazon is almost ALWAYS more expensive.
Example, Adorama offers stuff on Amazon, but when you buy direct, it's free shipping.
@valleyboy314 I think Amazon is definitely cheaper and I've used them several times and NEVER been disappointed with their products. Im sure Adorama has qualityt items but I dont think they compete with Amazons selection and prices.
If you want the cheapest product, regardless of quality, then Amazon is a better choice, but eBay stores can be better. Note: the "cheapo" brands like CowboyStudio and ePhoto sell on Amazon, eBay, etc, plus their own sites, which are cheaper than Amazon.
For a quality product like the Manfrotto 190XPRB Tripod I am buying for my brother right now, it is $136 at Amazon, and $99 after rebate, regularly $124, at B&H.
@dokgold Bounce your speedlight off colored foam core or construction paper. Way cheaper and more flexible than the (very expensive) Apollo Mark is using.
@Maxsdiscos Im gonna say they werent because he said the one on the left was a "hair light" which means it was probably not at full power while the one on the right was at full power.
Mark, I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from them. One suggestion about the food coloring. I learned from "Learn My Shot" to combine glycerine(sp) with the food coloring. It makes it last longer before dissipating. I did that and got some awesome results.
Can we just turn off all lighting in studio, and freeze motion with flash only, using slower shutter speeds?

For fun, try a dark or even black background and instead of food coloring drip whole milk into the water. It gives some pretty spooky looking photos.

1 - What if I only have a flash that come with my camera and I can't have external flash?
2- How come we don't see flash reflection on the glass?
