"Conservative" in political terms has always described people who are resistant to progress, who is not open minded, and rejects new ideas as a matter of principle. Conservatives were against abolishing slavery, against women voting, against desegregation, against any program designed to help the poor (medicare social security). These days they're against minorities voting and Mexican immigration (even the legal kind).
And yes I know that the Democrats were responsible for a lot of that racism in the South because back then Conservatives had infested the Democratic party with people like George Wallace and Lester Maddox, Zell Miller, Strom Thurmond. But then the civil rights act passed and Conservatives ran to the arms of the GOP and they've been there ever since.

Cash for Clunkers worked. It was narrowly targeted, and temporary. Car dealers are in many cases the biggest employers in some of these small towns that were worst hit by the recession and they have "big gubment" to thank for giving them a helping hand. Voting rights? who is being denied voting rights besides illegals. Death by spreadsheet? can you give me many sources backing up that claim, because it sounds like your just demonizing insurance companies, I work at a low-end job and i get decent health care. I also am a firefighter/emt and i have never seen the hospital turn away 1 patient because they did/did not have insurance.
I am catholic, but i base my political beliefs on what i believe is common sense, and what i think is right.

Voting rights? How about 2000? Ms. Harris put "criminal sounding names" on a "black list" (it was almost exclusively a... black list). Ken Blackwell in 2004 purging voter rolls of poor people who (oh so coincidentally) move a lot and weren't able to answer the Ohio GOP's "tracking letters". How about the Michigan GOP in 2008 going through lists of people who had their homes foreclosed on (middle class, poor,minorities) and demanding that their right to vote is taken away? Just 3 examples for now

yeah ACORN is the problem. The ONLY lobby that poor people have in this country is the problem. If ACORN was an evangelical prosperity gospel preaching arm of Dobson's empire Conservatives would be singing their praises. But ACORN helps black people in urban areas register to vote and that's always bad for Conservatives.
Reliable sources for what Kathrine Harris did? Hundreds of examples are out there including a (surprise) black pastor with no criminal history who was turned away at the polls.

ACORN is connected to corruption, such as money laundering, voter fraud, ect. It was ACORN i saw at the town meetings pushing people around and bullying others. Black Panthers were reported at various voting areas to discourage votes. I see you take on another talking point from MSNBC "all conservatives are racist" you are 90% wrong on this i have the up most respect for black people, i am not racist at all, matter of fact many of my friends are black, hispanic, asian, you name it.

"Conservative" in political terms has always described people who are resistant to progress, who is not open minded, and rejects new ideas as a matter of principle. Conservatives were against abolishing slavery, against women voting, against desegregation, against any program designed to help the poor (medicare social security). These days they're against minorities voting and Mexican immigration (even the legal kind).

And yes I know that the Democrats were responsible for a lot of that racism in the South because back then Conservatives had infested the Democratic party with people like George Wallace and Lester Maddox, Zell Miller, Strom Thurmond. But then the civil rights act passed and Conservatives ran to the arms of the GOP and they've been there ever since.

ah ha, thats the liberal definition of conservatism. Conservatism means sticking to your core values, we accept change, however we don't believe all change is good. We believe in stricter interpretation of the constitution. We also believe in the ideas of John Locke which is Government 's cheif end is the preservation of property. We also believe in states rights, and smaller government. Lincoln was a conservative, so were many of the republicans who were anti-slavery.

No one believes in big govt. We just don't subscribe to Norquist's definition of it and since the govt if of the people and by the people it should serve the people. It was these strict interpreters of the Constitution who supported slavery, segregation and no rights for women because (in their words) the constitution "said nothing about freeing blacks", etc. State's rights are A-OK with Conservatives unless someone tires to pass a gun law in D.C. or open up an abortion clinic. I get it now...

1. Tort Reform
- Puts some regulations on suing a doctor causing costs to sky rocket (i had a great uncle who made a living suing doctors and he wasn't the lawyer.)
2. We want health insurance plans to be more like life insurance plans lasting over many years rather then going year by year.
3. While there should be a catastrophe saftey net, there should be health savings accounts for things like doctor appointments and ect.

Average citizens can't get a day in court when a private for profit health insurer denies them the "privilege" of health and they die because of their insurer's actions. First of all i am a conservative, and my family is considered very middle class, we help out with my community being volunteer firefighters/ems so don't call us "Greedy Vampires" 2nd of all you make this claim yet you can't produce a source to back it up. Cash for Clunkers worked. It was narrowly targeted, and temporary. Car dealers are in many cases the biggest employers in some of these small towns that were worst hit by the recession and they have "big gubment" to thank for giving them a helping hand. But hey I don't expect Conservative poiticians to admit that a govt program works. Unless of course they meet their Conservatives constituents in flyover land who beg of them to :"keep the govt out of their Medicare"....

Yeah because Obama won the independent's. But most of them are regretting the choice they have made. With all the useless spending and the troops he still hasn't sent home also the stimulus bill that hasn't done crap. Bush also was terrible with spending.
