There is a lot of fine musicians, guitarists on youtube. And a lot of good comments. But in order to MOVE ON creating music, try to restrain yourself NOT to make any competition on the matter. The term "He is better than xxx" is nonsense. If your favorite style of music is played, the person who plays it will suddently become a thing to defend. It doesnt say anything about who he is better. So lets skip the ranging comments, and stick to the actual impression on the artist. Thanks.
@rjake61 You're an idiot. Just because this guy can bang out a few cliched blues and rock licks doesn't mean "he can play any style". Put him in a room with Tuck Andress, Tommy Emmanuel, Albert Lee, and Paco de Lucia and let's see if he can keep up.
@jspartacus Nope. No idiot here. Been playing guitar longer than you've probably been alive. Look around on the web, and you'll find him doing more than just what you see here. Most all great guitarists can play any style. Take EJ for example. They just choose to showcase one or the other.
@horrorfreakish i recomend that you buy a left handed strat, because if you get a right hand one and play it backwards, you will have a hard time playing the upper frets because of the way the guitar is built, the lower horn in your case would be in your way
@OutlawGuitarSlinger There's less input going to the amp, so there's less for the amp to distort, if that makes sense. So the further down you turn it, the less distortion you get.
this, is amazing. ive always used my pick like that, and sometimes used my volume controls like that, but have never been so flexible with such a setup. he can make good with anything from what he knows
i love his strat, you can tell its been through alot coz its wrecked, i hate those strats than you can buy that already look wrecked, its just pointless, the greatness of a wrecked strat is that its earned that look xD
No, it's not scalloped. Keep in mind that his Strat is original '61 and it's played a lot! It might have some wax etc. on fretboard but i'm not sure...
ahh man i respect the hell out of you, but you got "The" Strat and i wouldn't hesitate to punch you when you weren't looking and run away with it. Lol, but seriously though you've got some of the best tone on the block.
the different sounds/tones he get's out of the 61' Strat is phenomenal! he still has the original pickups in it, amazing sounds. of course, the H&K Triamp helps a lot. never the less, he plays great!!
Im sure he done it a few years back in either Guitarist or Guitar Techniques magazines....theres an excellent section(not shown in this intro) which is in 7/8 I thnk....anyway....the guys a Legend, he has great feel!
@tw1488 I don't know where malmsteen came from in all honesty. Not even similar, although I do agree Thomas Blug is better. Malmsteen still has good tone, and a different kind of feeling.
Stupid little "Masters of the Universe" fans are impressed by Malmsteen and his shredding pals. Go get yourself a B.C. Rich Warlock and whack off to your dull idol.
@Philtration Malmsteen is amazing at his own thing, such as Blug is amazing at his own thing....You can never say one guitarist is better than another....Theyre all good, but in theyre own way. Malmsteen beats BB. King in speed, BB. King beats Malmsteen in feeling and amazing riffs, you see?
@tw1488 I LOVE Thomas Blug, but "blows Malmsteen out of the water"???!!?!? I don't think so. Malmsteen plays with a ton of feel and legendary tone. They are just very different styles. Malmsteen also plays with terrific dynamics, again just a different style. People should appreciate both without taking anything away from the other. If you don't like Malmsteen, OK, but it's music, not a competition. Saying things like that just make you look immature.
The frets look to be scalloped but actually is just from playing the hell out of it. Check out some Philip Sayce, his 63' looks the same...with a lot less paint.
not scallop very well used.beautiful Vintage 1961 strat given to him by fender after winning best strat player of 2006. Ordered the triamp after hearing this guy live cant wait for it to arrive!
Those frets are definately scalloped. Those amps sound pretty good but probably very expensive. Does anyone no the prices of hughes and kettner? But that tone is awsome. so much to learn from this guy.
starts around $3200.00 and quickly goes up from there, the price of the amp he is playing goes for around $3800.00 and then add the effects and your going to pay around $4500.00 to $5000.00........but you can see why they get so much money for such a amp (you get what you pay for)

is that a scalloped neck??? 0_O
subjulio 3 years ago
No. When the neck is played this much the middle between two frets becomes polished, and the dirt stays at the frets. That gives it a 3D-Look.
