  • what gauge strings? 11's?

  • @tangypasta His strings are 9~42. Check his web site.

  • he is so good

  • There is a lot of fine musicians, guitarists on youtube. And a lot of good comments. But in order to MOVE ON creating music, try to restrain yourself NOT to make any competition on the matter. The term "He is better than xxx" is nonsense. If your favorite style of music is played, the person who plays it will suddently become a thing to defend. It doesnt say anything about who he is better. So lets skip the ranging comments, and stick to the actual impression on the artist. Thanks.

  • @pbstratocaster Sounds like you need to practice, cause that's an old copout. This guy can play any style.

  • @rjake61 ???

  • @rjake61 You're an idiot. Just because this guy can bang out a few cliched blues and rock licks doesn't mean "he can play any style". Put him in a room with Tuck Andress, Tommy Emmanuel, Albert Lee, and Paco de Lucia and let's see if he can keep up.

  • @jspartacus Nope. No idiot here. Been playing guitar longer than you've probably been alive. Look around on the web, and you'll find him doing more than just what you see here. Most all great guitarists can play any style. Take EJ for example. They just choose to showcase one or the other.

  • @jspartacus hahaha lol! theres actually a video to the right where he plays with tommy emmanuel.. and he does keep up! so shut up...

  • Interesting stuff

  • Amazing what one can do with the "simple" Strat.

  • Where can I find the song in the beginning!?!? Wow, I almost came!

  • i like babes and thomas blug

  • groove guitarist.

  • Great looking strat

  • great vid

  • hey,

im gona buy one for right handid people,

    put i am left handed.

is that bad? or kan you still lurn how to juse everything.

and i know that i have to turn the strings around.

  • @horrorfreakish i recomend that you buy a left handed strat, because if you get a right hand one and play it backwards, you will have a hard time playing the upper frets because of the way the guitar is built, the lower horn in your case would be in your way

  • 0:46 wtf he stole my lick! XD

  • Yeah man. I want buy an album by this dude. For sure. Nice. Great tone.

  • how call the hendrix song start at 7:06?

  • @daimonianyt Foxy Lady :) There's loads of way to play it.

  • @Willinthehall thanks

  • I love the look of his strat.

It almost looks like it is made out of bone.

    Very cool.

  • how do you just turn the volume on your guitar and get a clean tone on the distortion channel i dont understand it

  • @OutlawGuitarSlinger There's less input going to the amp, so there's less for the amp to distort, if that makes sense. So the further down you turn it, the less distortion you get.

  • damn what a fucking awesome tone

  • this, is amazing. ive always used my pick like that, and sometimes used my volume controls like that, but have never been so flexible with such a setup. he can make good with anything from what he knows

  • What brand of amp/pedals are those? i can't really read the name

  • Huges & Kettner

  • one guitar with a flexible setup...excellent.

    very good advice.

utility, practicality, and versatility, covering the full range of emotive responses from crushing depression to fiery indignation. 10 stars.

  • nice shallow scallop in there..

  • What was the first pedal he showed that made the cleaner tone at low volumes? I couldn't understand what he said

  • @jaf2312 Hughes & Kettner Replex, but the one he actually uses first is the H&K Tubefactor

  • 6:13 to 6:26 sounds just like Blackmore

  • I have a 1963 strat all original.

Whats the correct height for each pickup?

i notice toms are all differnt heights?

    What a player!!!!!!! incedible !!!!

  • i love his strat, you can tell its been through alot coz its wrecked, i hate those strats than you can buy that already look wrecked, its just pointless, the greatness of a wrecked strat is that its earned that look xD

  • poor Thom he looks tired. probably did this video between his own tours and H&K demos

  • This guy is a great player man.

  • 7:37

    he turns the volume. ;D

he even dont recognise that hes using the volume

    amazing player

  • Are those frets scaloped?

  • I think its just a bit of fingerpoo on the fretboard that is making it look slightly scalloped. Same as with my Strat.

    Awesome player!

  • I think its scalloped a bit. this guy is a new Ritchie

  • No, it's not scalloped. Keep in mind that his Strat is original '61 and it's played a lot! It might have some wax etc. on fretboard but i'm not sure...

  • I think so(Y)

  • Just got introduced to this guy via HCEG. WOW!

  • H&K-Blug=Germany-SAARLAND,Uhyeaaaah!

    Das Saarland rockt!

  • that echo sounds sounded amazing! one of the best strats i've ever heard

  • This guy is an amazing player and has excelent tone

  • his side view look like andy timmons leh

  • ahh man i respect the hell out of you, but you got "The" Strat and i wouldn't hesitate to punch you when you weren't looking and run away with it. Lol, but seriously though you've got some of the best tone on the block.

  • Great sound but really interested what does he uses besides those 2 pedals. Its not only reverb for sure...

  • Good sound! Compliments for guitar, ampli and pedals,is very excellent!!! By..

  • Wow, Brilliant technique !

  • No. When the neck is played this much the middle between two frets becomes polished, and the dirt stays at the frets. That gives it a 3D-Look.

  • @jamesallen87

the song is called "strat king"

  • the different sounds/tones he get's out of the 61' Strat is phenomenal! he still has the original pickups in it, amazing sounds. of course, the H&K Triamp helps a lot. never the less, he plays great!!

  • Whats the name of the song during the Intro?

Im sure he done it a few years back in either Guitarist or Guitar Techniques magazines....theres an excellent section(not shown in this intro) which is in 7/8 I thnk....anyway....the guys a Legend, he has great feel!

  • I've never heard about this guy before, but man.. He's awesome. Great player, and very very nice tone.

  • Wow. What a player, Im blown away.

  • amazing tone. he's no slouch on the guitar either

  • i just found this guy and he is really really good

  • I can never catch the name of the pedal he talks about at 3:36. Anyone know? It sounds tasty.

  • hughes & kettner tubefactor

    a 2 channel tube driven overdrive/distortion

similar to the ibanez tubeking, or the seymour duncan twintube etc.

  • what pickupsis he using

  • These are the original pickups from that guitar. I think it´s a Fender Stratocaster made in 62.

  • The Schumacher of the guitar...

  • fabulous dynamics!

  • Hey Thomas what kind of pick is that ?

  • Heh, German Malmsteen :D

  • This guy blows Malmsteen out of the water. He actually plays with feeling, dynamics, and a good tone.

  • @tw1488

    I agree entirely.

  • @tw1488 STOP COMPARING GUITARISTS!!!!!

  • @tw1488 I don't know where malmsteen came from in all honesty. Not even similar, although I do agree Thomas Blug is better. Malmsteen still has good tone, and a different kind of feeling.

  • @tw1488 go give him a blowjob now. define "good tone" and "feeling". malmsteen haters are boring

  • @tgolba90 It is Malmsteen that is boring as shit.

Stupid little "Masters of the Universe" fans are impressed by Malmsteen and his shredding pals. Go get yourself a B.C. Rich Warlock and whack off to your dull idol.

  • @Philtration Malmsteen is amazing at his own thing, such as Blug is amazing at his own thing....You can never say one guitarist is better than another....Theyre all good, but in theyre own way. Malmsteen beats BB. King in speed, BB. King beats Malmsteen in feeling and amazing riffs, you see?

  • @tw1488 how the hell can you compare them, they play completely different styles of music

  • @tw1488 and how doesnt malmsteen?

  • @tw1488 I LOVE Thomas Blug, but "blows Malmsteen out of the water"???!!?!? I don't think so. Malmsteen plays with a ton of feel and legendary tone. They are just very different styles. Malmsteen also plays with terrific dynamics, again just a different style. People should appreciate both without taking anything away from the other. If you don't like Malmsteen, OK, but it's music, not a competition. Saying things like that just make you look immature.

  • this is calle foxy lady by jimi hendrix !

  • What's the name of the song around 7:19 ???

  • The frets look to be scalloped but actually is just from playing the hell out of it. Check out some Philip Sayce, his 63' looks the same...with a lot less paint.

  • This guy is fantastic is he German?

  • yes he is german lots of people think of the mighty strat as a old mans guitar this proves them all wrong long live the strat

  • Best guitar I have ever heard...

    Amazing player

  • Very good indeed

  • lol

  • not scallop very well used.beautiful Vintage 1961 strat given to him by fender after winning best strat player of 2006. Ordered the triamp after hearing this guy live cant wait for it to arrive!

  • i have the switchblade amp, its awesome. and the guitar is quite old and the frets wear slightly. might be that

  • i thought those frets looked abit scalloped

  • Great sound and a great player.

  • good tips. are those frets slightly scalloped ?

  • i think they are yeah. He makes me wanna go buy a switchblade x)

  • Those frets are definately scalloped. Those amps sound pretty good but probably very expensive. Does anyone no the prices of hughes and kettner? But that tone is awsome. so much to learn from this guy.

  • starts around $3200.00 and quickly goes up from there, the price of the amp he is playing goes for around $3800.00 and then add the effects and your going to pay around $4500.00 to $5000.00........but you can see why they get so much money for such a amp (you get what you pay for)

  • thomas blug payd $4000 for his '64 strat he told me today at a show
