i don't understand what this does exactly...

like what signal is being sent to the house ... cuz if you're not micing the cab how are you getting the guitars distortion, or clean sound?

@snapascrew It goes after the amp head, so it still gets the overdrive from the amp.

Palmer speaker simulators are great. I initially bought my Palmer PDI-09 for the convenience (consistent sound and no mic stands to carry / accidently bump). And after A/B comparing the sound of the PDI-09 with real mics (SM57 and e609), I actually preferred the *sound* of the PDI-09 over the mics, too. It's like the PDI-09 gives an "ideal" sound that would be hard to achieve with typical dynamic mics pressed hard against cabinet in a bad-sounding room.
