This video helped but I have a problem ... whenever I get the .rar/.zip file of the ps1 game and extract them all I get is an .mds and a .mdf file. I think you can convert them into an iso file but I'm not sure. If you could help me out with this that would be great

@arukiri123 Buy another blank disk :| and dont use re-writable disks they're not for games or dvd they're ar for data :D hope it helped ;)

When i go to burn the dvd-r it says "No CD-R/RW disc in" I know you need a dvd-r because of how much memory the game is, and when i do put in a CD-R it says not enough space which was obvious by the amount on the file and the difference of the disc.

good job. informative and to the point. burning ace combat 0 now. jst really wanted to play that game. good thing i keep my iso files from games i knew i wud want. and btw as for the 360 the process is alot diffrent. you NEED to chip it and you need 2 other programs. cnt go into detail in a comment but the space i got left will be used to say a chiped 360 wnt work on live.

Go to PSX-scene forums and request a free installation of FMCB.

It's an exploit they install on your memory card for free, all you have to do is pay shipping both ways.

This is not a scam, I have done it and now I can play backed up games and PS2 homebrew. I can even play media files off USB devices thanks to the good people over at PSX-scene forums.

Magic ISO can be downloaded from the BitTorrent network for free, but it is sometimes complicated to get up and running.

Buy the software, it doesn't really cost that much.

To get the PS2 to accept the disc, you will need to modify it . the easiest way would be to "fix" the lid closed/open equipment so the system thinks it's closed all the time.

then you put in any old (original) ps2 format disk let it load a bit and then swap the disks. your timing has to be pretty good though.

this way the system reads disc 1 and accepts it. then you swap discs and it doesn't know the diff

Swap Magic is actually easier then it seems....... you don't need any of they're hardware to get it to work all you need is the swap magic cd, a piece of tissue paper and some tape. I purchased a used white slim ps2 so I had no worries of voiding my warranty. I stuck a little piece of tissue paper where the lid opens, opened the bottom, taped the sensor and popped the swap magic in and it worked just like that.

Do the same thing you'd do with Swapmagic but instead use a Gameshark 2. I've tested this and it works.

There are no ways to do this for PS3

Apparently you can play burned PS1 games without modding your PS2 or using Swapmagic/Gameshark 2. I haven't tested this though.

To burn videos for the PS3, I use a program called Super. It's freeware, just google for the word "Super" without the ". Than you convert the avi movie or the mpeg movie or the divx movie to PS3 (MP4) and than burn that MP4 file via Nero on a DVD-R. For games it's the same tutorial as for PS2 games. Like MrShell311 said :)

what about ripping the game. How do you do it? I tried "make ISO from cd/dvd" but it doesn't make an exact copy of the original which of course cannot be mounted as a virtual drive if it doesn't work, it only calls command prompt and then closes back, and then nothing happens.

To make an identical copy to another Disc?

You are doing it in a diffecult and inpractical way.

All you have to do is find the options that says Copy Disc. And choice or find an options saying to another disc.

A virtual drive is a fake drive. This is used to play PC .iso's, to save a disc. Not for Ps2

If your asking can i play a game that is originally a PC game than no. You can only play games that are for the PS2.

You will need a DVD - R or a DVD + R.

But don't try playing a PC game on a PS2, it will fail

Actually it depends, if you live in North America, that means your PS2 requires a NTSC system of games, if you live in Asia or Europe ( I'm not sure about the location pretty much ) that means your system requires PAL, check the download info it must be written down.

Yes it would, but DVD - R Discs are easier on the laser of the ps2. However there would not be much difference, the burning speed doen't matter, thats how fast it can be burn on, a ps2 can play 1x disc if it has to, but it would take hour for the computer to burn it lol

Why does everyone use swap majic for god sakes just get the softmod on the memory card the ulauncher and use esr. All you have to do is patch it then burn it then play it no swapping and messing up your tray.
