The measurements on the side of the bottle are pretty accurate if you are using the playtex brand liners the rest get a little dizzy but they are calibrated from the bottom of the liner. So they will be accurate.
I've seen on the side of the playtex bottles that there are two measuring scales. One for 'expandables' and one for the standard liners. Either way, it is very interesting. Thanks... we also use pkaytex! =)
I always pour the water into the liner before placing into the bottle. I too was worried about whether or not the measurement was correct so I conducted my own little testing.
It's always best to measure and make up the milk in a sterilized measuring jug, then pour the milk into the Playtex bottle. To be honest I've never trusted the measuring marks on bottles.
