  • Yo I proxied out of country just to see this again!

  • lucille must've been one hell of a woman

  • I'd forgotten what perfection that chorus is--just blindingly, ear-candy sweet. Just transporting.

  • Oh, the '80s. Swoon, indeed.

  • SUBLIME!!!

  • Two Wheels Good was far and away this band's best work. Each song on the LP is memorable. Great stuff--a hip Steely Dan for the early 80's.

  • An all-time classic. I love Prefab Sprout. So original. So absolutely brilliant.

  • Love it ....love it!! We don't have bands like this anymore!!

  • And they put a Michael Buble ad. below this song - have they no shame?

  • What a song!

  • I just Love this album!

  • This LP was a gift - Christmas 1985. I had just turned 18. While I knew a few tracks from my college radio station - I heard the album all the way through for the first time that night. After a day with family, it was nice to escape to my room for an hour and give it a spin. Combined with the warmth of the holiday and loved ones a few rooms away it was a listening experience that I'll always remember. It's also one of the few 80's pop albums I go back too. Wonderful!

  • @stanpnepa, what a great memory! Mine's similar---I was back in England visiting friends and ended up in their sitting room, gas fire roaring against the cold, spinning this vinyl over and over again. I loved Langley Park, too. Paddy MacAloon had this quirky writing talent---it sounded just like candy pop at first, but you found yourself sucked in, remembering riffs thirty years later and hunting them down on youtube!

  • The 80's was a decade of much outstanding pop music. It's great to be able to go back to that time and see and hear them all here. And, for me, to discover a whole bunch of them I never heard or new about back then - like these guys.

  • Embarassed to admit that I somehow missed this in the 80's (though I was very much into alternative stuff then).

Only recently discovered how good this band was/is and wonder how they slipped under my radar.

And this didn't make number 1 because it didn't suck (sucking was almost a prereq back then).

  • @mafketays THE GOOD THING IS THAT YOU FINALLY GET THEM IS A GREAT BAND.

  • S. Mc Queen is an album very important to me...

  • What's the name of the piano player? I think he wasn't an official band-member although he can be seen playing keyboards with PS on several live videos.

  • just gorgeous - the perfect song

  • "Greatest songwriter on the planet " !!

  • Life's not complete

    Till your heart skips a...

    Beat

  • got this album in HS still have it

  • Yet another of the great, overlooked GENIUS bands of the 80s...alternative pop music with intelligence. This song is a.k.a. "Goodbye Lucille #1." Paddy McAloon: one of the great voices of the 80s, too.

  • so much nostalgia .... !!

  • Can anyone tell me what Black and White movie the clips are from.

  • @filmnoir67 I think the film clips may be from a film from the early 1960's called A KIND OF LOVING.

  • brings back memories this one !

  • i can hardly bare the vocals ... make me weep ... in a good way ... but christ what a stone cold genius

  • tears

    the best ever song

    a huge group

    a huge album

so fragaile and painfull and sweet

kids of today- what do they know

  • Hello, would like to say that this is a top record. Very well written. A great voice, top 80s tune. If only music of today was still this great!!! A band that can play, their own music and therir own songs too!!!. Top draw end of story!!!!!! Thanx!!!...............

  • They are unforgettable!

I found this gem in long play, a local compilation of British music recorded in Costa Rica

  • One of their best songs and they have s lot of them. The Steve McQueen album, which this track came from was a classic!!

  • meravigliosa...

  • lifes not complete til your hearts missed a beat and you'll never make it up or turn back the clock, no you won't

  • The KING of Rock & Roll completely

  • godd bye lucille... number one

  • Brilliant everything

  • Hello, magnificent and wonderful song and unforgettable band, thanks, bye.

  • Poetic, beautiful sound and harmonies - so evocative. Takes me back to the best of the 80's: Annie Nightingale's Sunday radio show, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Human League's Dare, Heaven 17, The Chameleons (from Manchester) etc. Good old days.

  • Annie Nightingale on Sundays - wow I had forgotten. That was a fab time! Thanks for reminding me!!

  • do you know what film that clip is from?that fella is beautiful he is probably old or dead but ah well

  • It's Alan Bates brilliant actor, died 2003. I think the film is 'A Kind of Loving' from 1962.

  • @micksharp well done, human imdb :-)

  • Wow - hadn't heard this since it was a hit way back when. Superb!

  • Great!

  • life's not complete 'till your heart's missed a beat

  • Loco, juntemos firmas para que editen Let's change the world with music en Argentina!

  • "You're still in love with Hayley Mills" ......Paddy McAloon is one of the best songwriters this island has ever produced.

  • where are you , john loftus, of the rendevous casino, park lane . this song is and always was , for you.

  • Paddy McAloon what a poet

this album is simply glorious as is this song

  • Great stuff. Love how they skip a beat when Paddy sings "your heart's missed a beat." Lots of subtle bits in this song. Powerful tune!

  • johnny johnny and when the angels = masterpiece

  • For me this is the best thing on Steve Mcquenn and thats saying something.

how was this song not a number 1?

  • @cheevers4ever

Because "number 1" is meaningless. it's just sales, sometimes the public makes a great song number one, "Fairytale of new york" for example, mostly crap is number one.

  • not cry! something better - what's the recipe - listening ear seems to know, otherwise not a clue! Any answers?

  • the shock makes me want to cry eevrytime! interlude makes no difference. god what a brlliant song

  • WHY OH WHY is Talking Scarlet STILL not on You Tube ? It's the Sprouts best song

  • It is now.

  • Kudo's to June Ritchie for standing in for Hayley Mills.

  • On of the great tracks from the album Steve McQueen .The first 5 songs are classics .if you have not heard it go and get it

  • The first five songs are classics and then we get Hallelujah ,Moving The River and Desire As , AND When The Angels . Masterpiece.

  • This reminds me of the eighties... Yeah but it is stlll a great song. The years have past since then. Fifteen years and now fourty years. Still a child but also grown up. Fiction Factory so to say. Stay alive!

  • ya it brings me straight back to 80,s and memories of then and playing that tape in my fathers vw beetle.

  • Yhéééé thank you very much , it's a very good select

    10/10

  • My all-time favourite band. Can't understand why they didn't achieve superstar status - the lyrics, music and Paddy's voice are out of this world!!!

  • maybe it had something to do with the bloke in the frock

5 estrelas!!!!

Intemporal, magnifico, Tem tanto a ver com eles e nada com ninguem que me faz lembrar Sade Adu, pois soa me a qualidade de 1ª águae inimaginavel ver ou ouvir outra pessoa a interpretar estes temas.

  • it always\reminds me of the 80,s. could never understand why more people werent in to this fantastic band and paddy mcaloon.

  • I think it's sick that this (and other songs from Steve McQueen/Two Wheels) WEREN'T on the radio, instead of all that other tuneless top forty crap of the day. It's not too often that I hear music that really stirs my soul, and Two Wheels Good is one of those rare albums that did, and still does, too. "Swoon" is also fantastic.

  • Who's the actor of the movie?!!!

  • Alan Bates, in 'A Kind of Loving'.

  • Classic !!!

    That voice...!!!!!!!!!!

  • Prefab Sprout ,an underrated band, most of their songs must have been great hits

  • I was dumped once in 1985, I was very broken hearted. Then I discovered PF and this song. You can imagine the impact! Especially the part about "why don't you join the foreign legion"! This album is fantastic. I always thought they should have done more with Thomas Dolby. (BYW, I got me a wife now who beats the crap out of the one who dumped me.)

  • You should try to restrain your wife.

  • This and "WLBD" are the most beautifully depressing songs...

  • paddy mccaloon is symply a genius....

got introduced to this album at 12 ....

my fav of all time "STEVE McQUEEN " is so underrated

  • me too!

  • '..life`s not complete ... ` till your heart has missed a beat ..." .........

well, Prefab Sprout has made my heart miss MANY beats .......... for over 20 years already > LOVE THEM FOR IT!!!

  • THE GREAT FORGOTTEN PREFAB SROUT

  • One of the gratest bands ever! With lack of recognition.

  • I first listened to this song circa 1987. Many years went by since then until I've been able to listen to it again thanks to YouTube. Now I can do it time and time again! It's a simple song yet it's got something special, its bass line helped me create a couple of songs of mine. Can somebody kindly tell me what film those scenes were taken from?

    JaiBlueCave2 from Argentina
