@MrMecrob1 I've got a 42" LCD TV (It's a Sony "Bravia") It's a good quality panel. The TV itself has a load of useless features which Sony threw in to be competitive; like inserting 'fake' frames to increase the frame rate to 200Hz. All that is turned off, I got the telly for the superior panel it comes with. The TV content is Australia's free-to-air channels only. No pay-TV content. It comes in off the air via an UHF antenna (DVB-T in Aus). The tuner config is done through Media Portal itself.
Awesome setup. I've been looking into setting one of these up myself, so I was really interested in checking out Part 2 about the 20TB file server, but it looks like the link doesn't work.
Any chance you could give me a rundown on your setup for the server/client? (parts list, etc)
hey mate, im in the process of testing all recommended media centers (XBMC, Boxee etc..) and i just installed Media Portal. I like how you have set it up with the skins and plugins and want to know what plugins you use (all of them) and how you set them up. just post a message on my profile mate!
@kiwi1342 T.V. Functionality comes built-in with Media Portal, however I've turned off Media Portal's internal TV management and opted for a 3rd party solution called "4TheRecord", Google and check it out :)
Wow.. I'm jealous. This is incredible. I'm building a HTPC but no way will it be any near the level of awesome. I'm using a mini-itx form factor LGA775 motherboard with built-in wifi, hdmi out, onboard video powerful enough for 1080p.. a core2duo E8400, 4GB ram, 32GB intel SSD for boot drive. i was just looking into media portal as my software option. what kind of tuner card/remote do you use?

@arcooke Your specs look great. The Tuner card I am using is a Hauppauge Nova-T 500 Dual-Tuner. It's a standard PCI card, not a PCI express. It seems to be fine so far. Never had any real trouble.
The remote control I'm using is a Logitech Harmony 550. I'm very impressed with the remote.
Good luck with your setup mate! Make a vid when it's done :D
@trudyandgeorge Thanks for the reply :) I'll have to go with PCI-E .. mini ITX doesn't give me many options heh. Have you ever experimented with emulators/roms integrated into your setup? That was sort of my dream machine, to have a bunch of movies, and a massive collection of old classic games.. seamlessly delivered through the HTPC setup. I'm surprised how uncommon it is. There's very little info out there about doing that.
@arcooke Currently integrating emulators into the setup using the myEmulators plugin. So far so good! Seamless integration with my x-arcade sticks. Street Fighter Alpha/Zero series here I come :)
@trudyandgeorge Nice! I just ordered the last few parts I needed... 2TB "eco" drive, Hauppauge 2250 w/ remote. Really anxious to get all of this set up. :) I also want to get a BDROM drive eventually but that can wait.
@allanp81 It's called "XFactor" and can be found by going to the Media Portal forums. I'd post the link but goddamn youtube just says "Error, try again later"
Avalon hd skin looks looks best in my opinion for mp :)
