gaddamn i need a tricone now. i've been playing around on them for weeks and my heart hurts more with each triconeless day that passes. i don't think i've ever heard a more beautiful sound.

Well it's part of the bottleneck blues playing in open tunings. That's open D minor he's using it's tuned to DADFAD. Get a book about how to play slide in open tunings and you'll get you're answer cause slide is mostly playing in open tunings like D,G etc. If you've any questions you can ask me.
