In Brazil a group of scientists did DNA research on afro-brazilians that were believed to be black. The not-so-big suprise was: NOBODY had 100% African blood. That is very true. In the eyes of white people we are ALL black, regardless of complexion. However, to a small degree, some whites will half way tolerate a lighter skin black over a darker skin black person. This all goes to the Willie Lynch mentality with the color issue. In Brazil a group of scientists did DNA research on afro-brazilians that were believed to be black. The not-so-big suprise was: NOBODY had 100% African blood. He is considered as black by American society, but biologically he is just as biracial/mixed as Halle Berry or Maria Carey, thus he's 50% white. These ladies claim they're "100% African American" because their parents are most likely of African descent, but with a large percentage of European DNA as well. Whatever mixed genotypes they have DEFINITELY shows in their phenotype (physical traits). They can call themselves African American, but genetically they are not 100%. No one is 100% of one nationality. We're all mixed, and science has proven we can all trace our DNA back to Africa.

creates the issue: people falsely identifying as something they are not. The person becomes confused about who and what they are and so does everyone else. If you have mixed heritage, then you are mixed. Simple. If not, then you aren't mixed.
Whether or not a person decides to ACKNOWLEDGE their racial heritage, is their decision, but your heritage doesn't disappear just because people who have mixed racial heritage, sometimes don't identify as mixed. That's what people don't want to accept.

However, to a small degree, some whites will half way tolerate a lighter skin black over a darker skin black person. This all goes to the Willie Lynch mentality with the color issue. light skinned people can make up as many excuses as the want, for saying tey have it hard, when people compliment them by their hair, their skin, etc. WATEVER. if a white man were to bring a light skinned black girl to meet his family, it wouldnt be an issue. now say if a DARK SKIN black girl were to come home meeting a white mans family, everyone would have second thoughts on this relationship simple cuz shes darker.

That is so damn true. Although I understand where all of the women come from with their perspective. However, darker skin black people will always have it the hardest simply because of the negative and nasty stereotypes associated with darker skin black people. The two lighter skin black women did not understand what the darker skin black woman was trying to explain to them. It's a whole other picture to have contempt towards you base on the dark complexion of your skin.

@strwbery1234, you are 100% correct. A very light brown-skinned black chick really could gain acceptance into a white man's family a billion times more easily than a woman with much darker skin. Oh, and what if the woman had skin as dark as motor oil? It is likely everyone would bitch!
Mixing races does produce this concern. People on TV are pressured into being politically correct by saying race and color do not matter, but we know that no one of any color could deny having a preference.

some light skin people are actually blacker than the darker people. It all depends on the dna! Watch snoop dog vs Charles on lopez live. They took a dna test and charles was provn to be more blacker than snoop dog. Just because a person has light skin don/t meAn that they are more mixed....silly people. Dark skin people can be mixed as well. Bottom line is you don't just look at someone's skin and say they are mixed or not. DNA don't work like that!

@APGifts That's really not fair. We are obsessed with race. Even though the 'One-drop Rule" WAS banned long ago, you still have people with mixed heritage and, sometimes, even bi-racial labeling themselves as Black, because that's what they feel the social expectation is.
If we were not so racially focused this video (obviously with women of mixed heritage, rather it be two, three generations ago or whatever) would not be a topic of discussion or debate.

@APGifts I'm mixed Race living in the UK and the UK is FAR less racist then America. I've never had Any racist abuse or negative looks or comments. My Father is Nigerian and mother is white, they married in the 70's in London. Can you imagine that in most American towns? My Grandparents have never had a problem. The UK is far more tollerant then the US.

Including half the England football team, Lewis Hamilton the F1 Driver, Leona Lewis the famous singer, Shirley bassey who is now a officially a DAME. Alicia Dixon who won our version of dancing with the stars. The biggest boy band in the UK is made up of mixed race and black guys. The list goes on.

@ojideagu The UK is the most racist country I have ever been too. I studied abroad their this summer and was followed in several stores throughout the country, especially in London. That has NEVER happened to me in Paris, Berlin, or anywhere in the USA and Canada. Im Indian, and a few of my black friends from Canada and the US also find the UK to be a horribly racist place.
