now i saw and double checked it but they got a clip from twlight zone the movie in there, at 2:44 with that guy from 3rd rock from the sun. now i know they would never play that movie on nick so........why would they place that shot in there?
I first started watching nickelodeon in 1983 when my family first got more than 13 channels. Seeing these commercials brings me back to those days in Albany, NY, the 80s was a great decade!
@jessiekittygurl Hey if you’re interested in seeing several classic (80’s) Nick shows I’m hosting a Classic Nickelodeon Fan Meet on October 1-3, 2010 and hopefully many more years to come as well. E-mail me here and I’ll send you the link to the official website. I need at least 10 people to buy tickets from me so that I don’t have to cancel it again. Please help me to get this off the ground!!! Thanks!
Oh wow I remember that episode of Standby…Lights! Camera! Action! Would loved to have seen the one’s that got cut off but I LOVE THESE THANK YOU!

Hilarious - an episode of Going Great featuring Jennifer Beals in a film ( Flashdance ) restricted from most of Nickelodeon's young demographic at the time. Unless you had cool parents and they sat with you watching R-rated films ^_^ I've have had cable for well over 27 years and remember most of this stuff. Its great to see some people kept recordings of daily broadcasts from these networks. Filled with nostalgia! Thanks for the memories ^_^
Everything on Nick and Disney and any channel in the 80's looks the same! It's like it was the same 10 people doing everything! I miss the simplistic but genuine feel. I'm amazed Nick cared about Mountain time.
My mom says "No shit, Mr. Wizard" a lot. Does this have something to do with it. I'm pretty sure she wasn't watching Nick in the 80's. Did he have a show in the 60's too?
Makes you realize how simple minded they think kids are these days. I feel blessed to have grown up in the 80's. Today's kids have no idea how badly they're being shortchanged.
@Eric9233 It was mainly about empowering teens by showing examples of young people who made it in their profession of choice. If I remember right, and that's a big if...a teen would be featured with a particular interest, and they would meet someone in that field who made it. Kind of, "if they can do it, I can do it too."
Back during the Silver Ball era the channel's sign off had the National Education Association endorsement. today, not so much. not even Nick Jr can get such an Endorsement
It's almost over. they should have a Nick rock 80's Block and a Nick rewind channel on a Nick Rewind channel. 6:00 The Smurfs 6:30. DangerMouse 7:00 YCDTOT 7:30 Dusty's Treehouse 8:00 Going Great 8:30 Tomorroe's People 9:00 Mr. Wizard's World 9:0 Third Eye 10:00 Out of Control 10:30 Livewire 11:00 standby.

Tornado1994 4 years ago
Nickelodeon was launched in 1977 as the Pinwheel channel in Columbus, Ohio on the QUBE cable system (now Time Warner Cable).
During its broadcast day, it would air shows such as Pinwheel, Video Comic Book, America Goes Bananaz, Nickel Flicks and By the Way.
On April 1, 1979, the channel went national when they expanded to another QUBE system in Buffalo, New York.
In 1981, the channel expanded nationwide and was renamed Nickelodeon.
